Place Value
Definition: It is the value represented by a digit in a number on the basis of its position in the number
Types of Place Values : 3
(For numbers from 1 to 100)
They are defined according to their positions from the right to left- The ones (O) x 1
For example:
We have: 6
--> Number 6 is in the ones and its place value is 6 x 1 = 6
==> The sum is 8 - The tens (T) x10
For example:
We have: 47
--> Number 7 is in ones and its place value is 7 x 1 = 7
--> Number 4 is in tens and its place value is 4 x 10 = 40
==> The sum is 7+40=47 - The hundreds (H) x100
For example:
We have: 100
--> The first 0 from the right is in ones and its place value is 0 x 1 =0
--> The second 0 from the right is in tens and its place value is 0 x 10 = 0
--> Number 1 is in hundreds and its place value is 1 x 100 = 100
==> The sum is 0+0+100=100
