Common nouns

- Examples -man, mother, father, bird, pencil, dog
- Sentence - She loves to scribble with a pencil.
Proper nouns
- It is a specific name for a particular person, place or thing
- Examples - John, London, Oxford university
- Sentence - John is my friend.
Possessive nouns
- It shows ownership by adding an 's to singular nouns
- Examples - Jim's, women's, lamp's
- Sentence - They were able to find Jim's shoes.
Compound nouns
- It is a noun made with two or more words.
- Examples - blackboard, football, breakfast, haircut, bedroom
- Sentence - He likes to have bananas for breakfast.
Collective nouns
- It denotes a group of people or things
- Examples - Team, audience, family, crowd
- Sentence - Dia spends more time with her family.
Irregular nouns
- They are nouns that do not become plural by adding -s or -es.
- Examples - man-men, tooth-teeth, goose - geese
- Sentence - A group of men were walking in the park.
