  • DIVISIBILITY RULES

    • Number 2

      1. A number is divisible by 2 if its units digit is 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8.
      2. For example: 48 is divisible by 2 since it has 8 as the units digit.
    • Number 3

      1. A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of its digits is a multiple of 3.
      2. For example: 237 is divisible by 3 since the sum of its digits (2+3+7 = 12 ) is a multiple of 3
    • Number 4

      1. A number is divisible by 4 if the number formed by its first 2 digits is divisible by 4.
      2. For example: 364 is divisible by 4 since 64 is divisible by 4.
    • Number 5

      1. A number is divisible by 5 if its units digit is 0 or 5.
      2. For example: 435 is divisible by 5.
    • Number 6

      1. A number is divisible by 6 when it is divisible by both 2 and 3.
      2. For example: 132 is divisible by 6 since it is divisible by both 2 and 3.
    • Number 8

      1. A number is divisible by 8 if the number formed by its first 3 digits is divisible by 8.
      2. For example:  4248 is divisible by 8 since 248 is divisible by 8.
    • Number 9

      1. A number is divisible by 9 if the sum of its digits is a multiple of 9.
      2. For example: 486 is divisible by 9  since the sum of its digit (4 + 8 + 6 = 18) is a multiple of 9.
    • Number 10

      1. A number is divisible by 10 if its units digit is 0
      2. For example: 290 is divisible by 10 since its units digit is 0.
