00:03 Hi , My name is Rebecca , and in today's
00:06 lesson , we're going to talk about three commonly confused
00:09 words in English . They are who ? That and
00:13 which . Okay , I've written some information on the
00:16 board that I hope will help you . Let's have
00:18 a look . So the point to remember is when
00:23 we use who we should use it to refer to
00:28 people . All right , that's how you should be
00:30 using the word who were going to look at some
00:33 examples in sentences as well . But remember , for
00:36 now , who is used to refer to people that
00:41 is used to refer usually two things and sometimes to
00:46 people . You would not be wrong when you use
00:48 it to refer to people , but it is preferable
00:51 . It is better to use who to refer to
00:55 people and which is used on Lee for things .
01:00 Alright , so to review who is used for people
01:05 that is used for people or things , but preferably
01:08 for things and which is used on Lee for things
01:13 . All right , so let's look at some examples
01:16 . I know someone who can help you , right
01:21 ? I know someone who so a person who can
01:26 help you with a person we can only say we
01:30 should say who ? The woman who called didn't leave
01:35 a message . The woman who called didn't leave a
01:41 message again because it's a person we're using . Who
01:46 ? The house that she lives in is huge .
01:51 What does huge mean ? Huge means very large ,
01:55 very big . The house that all right ? Because
01:59 it's a thing we're using that I like the piano
02:05 that costs $800 . I like the piano that costs
02:11 $800 . So again , we're talking about a thing
02:16 . So we're using that another one . Where's the
02:20 cell phone that was on the table , or where
02:24 is the cell phone which was on the table ?
02:28 Because it's a thing . We could use that or
02:31 which right ? Another example . The clothes which he
02:37 bought were quite expensive . The clothes which he bought
02:43 were quite expensive . Again . We're talking about things
02:46 . Clothes . So we use the word which all
02:51 right , in a moment we're going to do a
02:54 little quiz to see how well you have understood this
03:00 . Okay , So are you ready for a little
03:02 quiz ? On who ? That or wage ? Let's
03:05 get started . So what would we say ? The
03:09 musician , who the musician that or the musician ?
03:14 Which What would we say ? You should say the
03:20 musician , who we could also say the musician that
03:26 . But as I mentioned , it's probably clearer in
03:28 your mind if you tell yourself that when I'm talking
03:32 about a person , I'm going to use who you'll
03:36 always be right that way . Okay , the next
03:39 one , The table . What should we say ?
03:43 The table . Here we have a choice . You
03:51 could say the table that is in the room or
03:54 the table , which is in the room . Next
03:57 one , the teacher blank . What do we say
04:02 ? The teacher , who again ? We're talking about
04:08 a person . The book blank . What do we
04:13 say ? All right , the book that is on
04:21 the table , the book which is on the table
04:24 , The computer ? What do we say ? E
04:32 me again ? That or which The doctor ? What
04:40 do we say there ? Because it's a person .
04:45 We're going to say who the doctor who treated you
04:49 is very good . The doctor who treated you is
04:53 very good . All right . Next one , the
04:56 shops blank . What do we say if not a
05:02 person ? The shops that are on the street are
05:09 very good or the shops which are on the street
05:12 are very good . Last one . The manager .
05:17 What do we say ? The manager , who ?
05:23 Because once again we have . We're talking about a
05:26 person . Okay , if you would like to do
05:28 some more practice on these commonly confused words who that
05:33 in which please visit our website , www dot invaded
05:38 dot com . And there you'll find a quiz on
05:41 this and many other subjects in English . Thanks for
