00:00 | Hello . My name is Chris Man , and I'm
00:01 | gonna be taking you through the first part of our
00:03 | series on accelerated reading goal of this exercise right now
00:07 | is gonna be toe help you read faster and home
00:09 | and hopefully get you through your books that you've been
00:12 | looking to read for a while . All right ,
00:14 | so here's how reading works for the average reading .
00:17 | First , what happens is the eye sees the word
00:20 | fish . Okay , It sees the word fish and
00:23 | then sends a signal down into the larynx , which
00:25 | then voices the word fish . Even if you don't
00:28 | say it out loud , your larynx is still gonna
00:30 | produce the word . And then from there , the
00:32 | signal's gonna transfer your brain , which is then gonna
00:35 | come up to that picture of the fish . And
00:38 | that's how we read . Now the average person reads
00:40 | to himself 125 words per minute to 250 words .
00:46 | That's average . If you read any higher than this
00:50 | level , you're actually reading with not your larynx ,
00:52 | but with your eyes . So your eyes air ,
00:54 | taking in words such as the or a or it's
00:58 | or is , and transfer them straight over the brain
01:01 | . So what we can do to increase our speed
01:03 | from 1 25 to 252 5 to 1000 words per
01:08 | minute is by using this exercise . Exercise is really
01:15 | simple . And all you do is you take a
01:16 | page of text . And while you're reading , you
01:20 | take your learning side of the equation by voicing a
01:24 | simple sound such as a IOU or 12341234 And you
01:30 | just do this A I O u a e i
01:33 | o u a e i o u a e i | |
01:35 | o u or 12341234123412 Before now . Granted , you're
01:41 | not gonna get any comprehension in this section by doing
01:44 | this , but by practices . Over time , you'll
01:47 | notice that your comprehension level will go up when you're
01:49 | enjoying reading and in other texts that you're studying as
01:52 | well . Okay , that's it for accelerated reading today
01:56 | . All right , let's give our example . Try
01:57 | now , What we're gonna do is we're gonna read
02:00 | through this using the techniques that I just taught you
02:03 | . And what up here ? I have 20 words
02:05 | Okay , So what did you read them ? You're
02:07 | gonna say to yourself a e i o u a
02:10 | e i o u a e i o u a | |
02:12 | e i o u a e i o u a | |
02:15 | Iot e u a e i o . Now , | |
02:19 | if you can read this two sentences in one second
02:23 | , that means that you're reading it about 1200 words
02:27 | per minute . That means you can finish the catcher
02:30 | in the rye in about 10 minutes . Um ,
02:32 | now , normal people would take about nine , maybe
02:36 | 10 seconds to read this because you're reading the dog
02:39 | . Chased after the cat . They ran around town
02:43 | all day long and never stopped chasing after one another
02:48 | . But if you're using the accelerated techniques that I
02:50 | have taught you , you should be able to look
02:52 | at this and take it all in at once and
02:54 | see the entire picture and not a Siris of words
02:57 | . But you should actually able to see the dog
02:59 | chasing after the cat and then chasing each other all
03:01 | around town throughout the rest of the day . And
03:04 | that should be a picture rather than a series of
03:06 | words . And once you've got to that step ,
03:08 | you'll notice that you're reading for pleasure will be much
03:12 | more enjoyable on any text for school or any text
03:15 | for work will be much more easy to understand because
03:18 | you're reading an accelerated rate where your brain can take
03:21 | in the information and challenges you and you won't notice
03:24 | any days ing off or slipping out . And you'll
03:28 | just be accompanying the information right away . So that
03:32 | concludes this part of accelerated reading . Thank you . |
