Students in grades 2-12 are issued district devices which they are expected to use during an eLearning day. We will be limited in our ability to provide support on home wireless networks due to the wide range of potential problems that could arise during a weather event. We will do our best to provide support on any problems related to login and the use of devices issued by Florence 1 Schools to complete eLearning assignments. All students in grades 2-12 can access, complete, and submit work via Chromebook. For school devices WiFi will be in operation at all of our school locations and the range typically extends beyond the building into the parking lot. This may vary from school to school, location and proximity to the building itself. Students will have 5 days after returning to school to complete eLearning assignments in case of issues with internet connectivity at home.
In grades prek-6, students will receive work in each of the 4 core subject areas including Reading/ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies. In grades 7-8, students will receive work in each of the 4 core subject areas including ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies as well as their elective course(s). In grades 9-12 eLearning assignments will be posted in Google Classroom for each of the 4 subjects they have in a normal school day. Each lesson will be relevant to current instruction and should take students no more than 50 minutes to complete. By using current instruction, we give them work to prepare for state assessments and meet educational standards that they missed.
From start to finish, students should spend a total of about 200 minutes (3 hours and 20 minutes) on elearning for the day. Students should complete their work carefully, using the amount of time that is appropriate for them.
