A parent course will be created in Canvas. In this course, parents can expect to find resources to support their child both academically and socially emotionally. In addition, parents can expect to receive training on how to use Canvas.
Surveys will be sent out periodically to solicit feedback from families, teachers, and staff. Survey results will be used to make adjustments to the plans as needed.
a. The staff member will be required to be isolated for a minimum of 10 days since symptom onset AND it has been at least 24 hours with no fever without fever-reducing medication AND symptoms have improved.* b. If a healthcare provider provides documentation that the symptoms are not related to COVID-19, the staff member may return to work after being fever free (without the use of fever-reducing medication) for at least 24 hours with documentation. * These recommendations are based on current IDPH guidance which is subject to change.
The staff member would be required to isolate at home for a minimum of 10 days after symptom onset and can be released after fever free (without the use of fever-reducing medication) for at least 24 hours and improvement of other symptoms.* Staff that are required to isolate are eligible for paid sick leave under the EPSLA for 10 school days, which would cover this period of time.
The District has an employee assistance program (Perspectives) that is available to anyone. Information from Perspectives is regularly shared with the staff. We will continue to share this information as well as set up periodic sessions from Perspectives. If other areas arise that staff need support in, we will work with Perspectives to put together a tailored session for the staff of each building.
Remote teaching is expected to happen in the school building. An accommodation request to remotely teach from home will be reviewed by Human Resources and it must be certified by a medical professional.
All staff are expected to be role models for safety during this crisis. Any staff member that refuses to follow the safety protocols and guidelines that have been implemented by the District are subject to disciplinary action according to the collective bargaining agreement, Board policies 5:240 Suspensions, and 5:290 Employment Termination and Suspension.
We are working with the bus company to build additional time onto every route. Students will be assigned seats which will be sent home prior to the first day of school and masks will be required. Any students who do not comply with the new rules will be barred from riding the bus.
a. Remote Only Learners: Parents will have access to breakfast and lunch via a pick-up time frame at each school building. More details will be forthcoming as plans are finalized. b. Hybrid Learners: Breakfast will be sent home with students of all grade levels if desired. Lunch will be sent home with students at Parker Junior High School. There will be no lunch eaten at the junior high. Students will be dismissed at 12:45 p.m. Elementary school students will eat lunch in their classrooms. Social distancing will be enforced while they eat their lunch. Classrooms will be thoroughly cleaned after lunch while the students are outside at recess. Monday/Tuesday students will bring home lunch/breakfast for Wednesday/Thursday/Friday on Tuesday afternoon as desired. Wednesday/Thursday students will bring home lunch/breakfast for Friday/Monday/Tuesday on Thursday afternoon as desired.
Face coverings must be worn at all times in school buildings. Face coverings can be removed when outside if social distancing is maintained. Snacks at the junior high school will be eaten once students are appropriately social distanced.
Classrooms will be cleaned a minimum of two times per day (once after lunch and a second time after school is over). Bathrooms will be cleaned multiple times during the day. All frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned multiple times per day. To continuously clean the buildings, night cleaning crews will be deployed during the school day to assist with the cleaning. Every room will have a check sheet that will be signed to monitor the cleaning of each space and by whom.
a. The cleaning of the school buildings will be monitored by the Director of Buildings and Grounds as well as the Custodial Supervisor daily. Signed check sheets will be required after each classroom and bathroom is cleaned and high standards will be expected. We will view video tapes of the inside of the buses periodically to ensure compliance with cleaning protocols. b. In addition, every teacher will have their own supply of cleaning wipes in their classroom
Purchasing has already begun. We already have enough products on hand to begin school and more are on order.

a. Proper hygiene will become a part of the teaching process. Reminders, lessons in handwashing, and mask wearing will be stressed throughout the day. b. Frequent hand washing breaks and hand sanitizer will be consistently administered.
Per the ISBE transition joint guidance, to the best extent possible social distance must be observed. Desks will be moved and classrooms will be modified to better assist with social distancing. Children will have outdoor recess and the playground equipment will be routinely cleaned.

For hallways, classroom movements will be choreographed and scheduled. Additional adults will be supervising to ensure that the groups of students move quickly and safely through the school.
a. Certification and symptom checking is answering the questions about COVID-19 symptoms that a person may or may not have at that moment. This must be done on a daily basis for all students and adults in District 161. Parents are expected to certify their child[ren] everyday. b. Individuals who have a temperature greater than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit/38 degrees Celsius or currently known symptoms of COVID-19 may not enter the buildings. If a staff or student becomes ill, they will be assessed to determine further interventions/evaluations.
