Shopping for New Clothes

Cassie and her best friend, Sherrie wanted new clothes for the summer. They had never gone shopping together for clothes.

Their moms agreed to take them to the mall. Both moms had talked it over and decided on how much the girls could each spend. Their budget would be around $120 each. The girls also had to purchase at least 6 outfits to fit within that budget.

The stores in the mall ranged from family clothing stores like JC Penney’s and Ross to high-end stores like Macy’s and Dillard’s. It was going to be difficult to stay within their spending amount if they went to the high-end stores. There were other tiny shops, too, that might have good sales going on.

Sherrie really wanted to go to Macy’s, but Cassie realized that would be too expensive for them. She had to talk and talk to Sherrie to get her to understand about the prices of clothes at Macy’s. Finally, Sherrie was convinced they better stick to the other stores with reasonably priced clothes.

The day came to go shopping. Giggles could be heard as the group entered the mall. Their mothers couldn't help but laugh, too. The girls were excited to pick out and try on clothes with each other.

As they were walking toward JC Penney's, Cassie saw a little shop named Fancy Fashions. The display had bathing suits and shorts in the window. A sign read, "Buy one,  get one half off. "She ran inside the store tugging Sherrie's arm. The girls tried on several swimsuits. Each one was $40. They decided that if they both got one, they could use the sale price to save money. Their moms thought that was a smart idea. So, they both got swimsuits for $30 each.

Next it was on to JC Penney’s where they were able to get 3 short sets and stay within their budgets. Cassie took pictures on her mom's phone to share later.

Heading back on the other side of the mall, Sherrie saw Macy's but shook her head "no" as they continued to Ross.

Inside Ross, Cassie and Sherrie decided to look for matching outfits. They had to search and search to find them. Finally, they found tops and skirts to try on. The outfits fit not only the girls, but the budget, too!

The girls even had enough money left over to stop for ice-cream sundaes before leaving. What a fantastic time they had!
