Literacy Unbound

This course is a six full day professional development sessions, teachers will be supported in designing and implementing a long-term, standards-aligned curriculum project. Each teacher who participates will be supported to implement and refine this project in one or more of his/her classes.
Teachers will craft curricula designed to “unbind” traditional conceptions of literacy, troubling the divide between critical and creative thinking and ultimately coming to understand that intellectual rigor requires both
Building Highly Engaging Classrooms through Creative Approaches to Challenging Texts. This hands-on professional development workshop invites secondary humanities teachers to reimagine curriculum in the teaching of reading and writing by incorporating creative approaches to text. Engage your students in challenging texts by integrating the arts—drama, music, movement, visual art—and technology.
