Equity for our ELL Learners

This workshop will take a close look at the importance of effective teacher collaboration for the sake of English language learners (ELLs). It will specifically focus on the issues of equity as they pertain to the our ELL learners and their families. Participants will examine essential frameworks for English as a New Language (ENL), and innovative approaches to integrated instruction that benefit all students.

Participants will:

explore the implications of changes in the Part 154 regulations for the education of ELL learners
consider strategies and policies to achieve equity for ELL learners, particularly collaborative strategies and co-teaching models
become familiar with various types of instructional and non-instructional collaborative practices among ESL and mainstream teachers
identify strategies and analyze tools for a collaborative instructional cycle
learn how to implement various co-teaching models to enhance integrated services for ELLs
