00:0-1 another episode of mental abuse to human math . Not
00:03 really . But listen to this one . So today
00:05 I want to talk a little bit about positive interaction
00:09 and joy of learning what it looks like and if
00:13 you have young kids what to look for . All
00:15 right . So the question posted on the website is
00:18 what are some of the with your young kids show
00:22 the enjoyment of math from early age . So listen
00:25 to what this four parents said . The parents that
00:28 worked with once said we had a Montessori school in
00:31 our neighborhood . Our two year old loved counting Montessori
00:35 school was really fantastic way to start sorting shapes and
00:39 learning counting 2nd 1 set transits . I'm sure kids
00:44 get an early sense of math by assembly , train
00:47 joe and push it on the magnetic train card around
00:50 the tracks . Maybe that made all the difference for
00:54 later on solving those distance travel related work problems .
00:58 Awesome . Next one right from the first grade ,
01:03 our son loved to talk and show us what he
01:06 learned in school . That's a fantastic way to have
01:09 your child come back and teach you what they learned
01:12 . All right , Last one . Alright , ironically
01:16 our oldest child when he was little , I was
01:19 doing my own math homework . This is a dedicated
01:22 parents . So I could give him a problem involving
01:25 an equation such as one plus X equal to find
01:29 what exits . That's a mystery number is equal to
01:32 one . That's how he started . All right .
01:35 So here's my own experience when our son showed uh
01:40 , one day interesting counting the rice balls and this
01:43 is before he could talk . One day I noticed
01:45 he was rolling his eyes , rice balls in his
01:48 plate from one side to the other . I'm thinking
01:51 he was counting , but he didn't know how to
01:52 speak . So I followed his pattern . I content
01:56 the rest fall and roll back and forth with him
01:58 . When he wrote one , I stick one finger
02:00 , I said one when he countered to I said
02:03 two and then three and so on and so forth
02:05 . After the dinner . He knows this means three
02:08 rice balls . Now with our daughter , she started
02:11 a little slower , um , one summer when she
02:14 was about three or four , we left her with
02:16 our parents to see a movie . When we come
02:19 back , our daughter took her socks off and say
02:21 , look , look , she was really excited .
02:24 She stuck about five fingers . I still remember this
02:26 and counted to four more toes on her foot To
02:30 show us that 5-plus 4 equal to nine . So
02:33 if we have a young kids , it's really ,
02:35 really important . You look , time , take the
02:37 time and patience to search for those joyful moments and
02:41 tie the math to them and introduced in a gentle
02:44 and subtle by more joyful fun . Way until next
02:48 time . Mental abuse to human doesn't have to be
02:52 that
