00:06 we are going to learn some really cool things in
00:09 this video because in this video we are going to
00:12 learn about owls howls . But first we want to
00:20 hear from two of you , 10 year old Pablo
00:23 from Spain had a joke for us and said ,
00:25 what do you call a fly without wings ? A
00:28 walk . That's a good one . We also heard
00:34 from seven year old cave in from Georgia . Who
00:37 watched our video on dogs and said I love that
00:39 their sense of smell is stronger than human beings .
00:42 What a great thing you learned ! Yes . Dogs
00:44 are able to smell much better than we can as
00:48 people . It's so fun to hear from all of
00:52 you watch this entire video to see how you can
00:55 have a chance to be featured . That would be
00:57 really cool . Well , as we mentioned earlier in
01:02 this video , we are learning about owls , wow
01:06 ! You are going to learn some deep facts and
01:08 learn why owls are such fascinating birds . Let's start
01:15 with this . Owls are nocturnal birds . Nocturnal means
01:19 they mostly sleep in the day and are active at
01:24 night . Mm And as you can see we don't
01:29 mean this in a rude way . But let's be
01:31 honest owls are unique looking birds . Okay they are
01:35 they just start their unique looking birds . They have
01:38 a flat face and have really big eyes . They're
01:45 big . Guys are perfect for seeing at night which
01:48 works really well for them because remember owls are mostly
01:51 active at night now not only do their eyes help
01:55 them see well at night their eyes help them see
01:58 things that are far away . In fact owl eyes
02:01 see things that are far away better than things that
02:04 are close . Isn't that fascinating ? Yeah . So
02:09 owls are really cool birds that are nocturnal . That
02:12 means they are active at night . They have flat
02:15 faces and big eyes that helped them see things in
02:18 the dark and help them see things that are far
02:22 away . Mhm . Another helpful thing for owls is
02:27 that they can turn their heads way further than we
02:30 can . Do you see how this owl's head is
02:33 turned back . They can turn their heads to see
02:36 what is going on behind them and with their super
02:39 powerful eyes they could see if they found prey and
02:46 they love finding prey . They just do you know
02:52 as cute as owls are owls are predators . Okay
02:56 they're predators . Remember predators are animals that hunt other
03:03 animals . Yeah . Mhm owls love to hunt .
03:09 In fact they hunt and eat small mammals , reptiles
03:13 , amphibians , fish , insects and even other birds
03:18 . Mhm . Now check this out . Their beaks
03:22 are sharp and so are their talents plus their wings
03:26 are super quiet while they're flying . It's crazy .
03:29 They're like quiet silent fliers . Okay No wonder they're
03:33 so good at it . They're like super sneaky .
03:35 Who knew ? Who knew ? Raise your hand if
03:38 you already knew The owls are sneaky . Okay ,
03:41 wow . How did you even know that ? Yeah
03:43 , they're sneaky . Mhm . So there's sharp talons
03:49 and beak there quiet wings , their ability to turn
03:52 their heads far . They're powerful eyes . And the
03:54 fact that they hunt at night makes an owl a
03:57 really good hunter . Mhm . Oh , hey ,
04:02 little mousey . I get it . You're getting some
04:05 food . It's at night . You know , you're
04:07 hungry and you think this is a good idea ,
04:10 Right ? This is kind of a terrible idea .
04:14 Okay . Not to be mean or anything , but
04:16 there could be an owl coming and you don't even
04:18 know what they fly so quietly . Come on now
04:22 , see , wow . Let's talk about something else
04:27 . Baby . Our walls . Yeah . What our
04:32 baby owls called ? Mm . Do you know what
04:36 are they called ? Mm hmm . Yeah . Baby
04:41 owls are called owl . Let's what a neat word
04:45 owl . Let's these are a few owl . Let's
04:48 isn't it amazing how proud they are . This outlet
04:51 is like , hey , everyone just happen to be
04:55 here . Take my picture . We just ask you
05:01 a question . But you know what ? We are
05:02 going to ask you another one here . It is
05:09 . Where in the world can you find owls ?
05:12 It's an interesting question . Do you happen to know
05:14 where in the world can you find owls ? This
05:21 might surprise you , but owls live all over the
05:24 world except for a few islands and the polar ice
05:27 caps . They can live in many different habitats even
05:30 in extreme temperatures . Wow owls are worldwide birds .
05:37 Mhm . Right . Not only that owls do not
05:41 migrate to warmer climates , they just stay right where
05:44 they are . These are tough birds . I will
05:47 stay where they are all year long . Yeah no
05:52 migrating for this bird . Yeah owls are tough .
05:56 Well actually this all just look sleepy but owls are
05:59 tough birds . Mhm . Mhm . Now we can't
06:04 make a video about owls without talking about their signature
06:08 sound . What do owls say ? Mm Yeah owls
06:16 often make a loud hoot sound hoot hoot hoot now
06:21 not every owl hoots . Okay some owls don't hoot
06:29 . Wouldn't that be sad to be an owl and
06:31 you know not be able to who you know that's
06:34 it's kind of sad you know but hey if now
06:40 all can't hoot owls can make other sounds to like
06:43 whistles , chirps , Screeches and more these sounds allow
06:48 owls to communicate and you know different sounds mean different
06:52 things . For example when an owl hoots it is
06:55 claiming its territory . So the next time you hear
06:57 an owl hoot the owl might be saying to other
07:00 owls , hey , like this is my area and
07:03 I'll find your own area . This is where I
07:06 am staying . Who who who owls are super awesome
07:15 birds . What was your favorite owl fact ? Comment
07:18 below and let us know we would love to hear
07:21 from you . That would be really cool . You
07:25 know , we didn't even mention how owls can use
07:28 camouflage . Very impressive job out . You know ,
07:31 just hiding in plain sight . It's a good thing
07:33 . We're not mice hanging around your tree . When
07:36 we hope you had fun learning about owls with us
07:39 . Don't forget to tell us your favorite owl fact
07:42 . That would be really neat . Almost as neat
07:44 as this owl's camouflage skills . You know , actually
07:48 even neater . Okay , do you remember the kids
07:56 comments that were at the beginning of this video ?
07:59 Just by commenting , you can have a chance to
08:03 be in one of our videos too . Just include
08:06 with your comment , your name , age and where
08:09 you're from for a chance to be featured and if
08:14 you are a class , be sure and share your
08:16 teacher's name , your grade and where you are from
08:19 along with your common . We hope you have as
08:22 much fun writing them as we do reading them .
08:28 This is the end , but don't cry . You
08:31 know , there's a circle in the middle of the
08:32 screen that's popping up . You can click that to
08:35 subscribe if you haven't already . And there are two
08:38 special videos that you can check out . You can
08:40 just go straight to those or you know , do
08:42 whatever you want . You know , an internet land
08:45 . But why not learn more ? We have so
08:47 many more videos . All right . So we hope
08:50 to see you there . Okay .
