00:05 in this video we are learning about owls , wow
00:09 ! You are going to learn some deep facts and
00:11 learn why owls are such fascinating birds . Let's start
00:18 with this . Owls are nocturnal birds . Nocturnal means
00:22 they mostly sleep in the day and are active at
00:27 night . And as you can see , we don't
00:32 mean this in a rude way . But let's be
00:34 honest owls are unique looking birds . Okay . They
00:37 are they just start their unique looking birds . They
00:40 have a flat face and have really big eyes .
00:47 Yeah , they're big . Guys are perfect for seeing
00:50 at night which works really well for them because remember
00:53 owls are mostly active at night . Now not only
00:57 do their eyes help them see well at night ,
00:59 their eyes help them see things that are far away
01:02 . In fact , owl eyes see things that are
01:05 far away better than things that are close . Isn't
01:08 that fascinating ? So owls are really cool birds that
01:14 are nocturnal . That means they are active at night
01:17 . They have flat faces and big eyes that help
01:20 them see things in the dark and help them see
01:23 things that are far away . Another helpful thing for
01:29 owls is that they can turn their heads way further
01:33 than we can . Do you see how this owl's
01:35 head is turned back . They can turn their heads
01:38 to see what is going on behind them and with
01:41 their super powerful eyes they can see if they found
01:46 prey and they love finding prey . They just do
01:55 you know as cute as owls are owls are predators
01:59 . Okay . They're predators . Remember predators are animals
02:05 that hunt other animals . Yeah , owls love to
02:11 hunt . In fact they hunt and eat small mammals
02:15 , reptiles , amphibians , fish , insects and even
02:19 other birds . Mhm . Now check this out .
02:24 Their beaks are sharp and so are their talents .
02:27 Plus their wings are super quiet while they're flying .
02:31 It's crazy . They're like quiet silent fliers . Okay
02:35 . No wonder they're so good at it . They're
02:37 like super snaky . Who knew ? Who knew ?
02:40 Raise your hand if you already knew . The owls
02:43 are sneaky . Okay , wow . How did you
02:45 even know that ? Yeah , they're sneaky . So
02:51 they're sharp talons and beak there . Quiet wings ,
02:54 their ability to turn their heads far . They're powerful
02:56 eyes and the fact that they hunt at night makes
02:59 an owl a really good hunter . Oh , hey
03:05 , little mousey . I get it . You're getting
03:08 some food , it's at night . You know ,
03:10 you're hungry and you think this is a good idea
03:13 , right ? This is kind of a terrible idea
03:17 . Okay ? Not to be mean or anything ,
03:19 but there could be an owl coming and you don't
03:21 even know what they fly so quietly . Come on
03:24 now , see . Yeah , wow , let's talk
03:29 about something else . Baby owls . What our baby
03:35 owls called ? Do you know what are they called
03:42 ? Yeah , baby owls are called owl . Let's
03:47 what a neat word , owl . Let's these are
03:50 a few owl . Let's isn't it amazing how proud
03:52 they are . This outlet is like , hey everyone
03:56 just happy to be here . Take my picture .
04:03 We just ask you a question . But you know
04:05 what ? We are going to ask you another one
04:11 here it is . Where in the world can you
04:14 find owls ? That's an interesting question . Do you
04:16 happen to know where in the world ? Can you
04:19 find owls ? This might surprise you , but owls
04:25 live all over the world except for a few islands
04:29 and the polar ice caps . They can live in
04:31 many different habitats even in extreme temperatures . Wow owls
04:36 are worldwide birds . Mhm . Mhm . Not only
04:42 that apples do not migrate to warmer climates . They
04:46 just stay right where they are . These are tough
04:49 birds . I will stay where they are all year
04:52 long . No migrating for this bird . Yeah owls
04:58 are tough . Well actually this owl just looks sleepy
05:01 but owls are tough birds . Mhm . Now we
05:07 can't make a video about owls without talking about their
05:10 signature sound . What do owls say ? Yeah ,
05:18 owls often make a loud hoot sound hoot hoot hoot
05:24 ! Now not every owl hoots . Okay some owls
05:27 don't hoot . Wouldn't that be sad to be an
05:33 owl and you know not be able to who you
05:37 know it's kind of sad you know but hey if
05:43 now we can't hoot owls can make other sounds to
05:46 like whistles , chirps , Screeches and more . These
05:50 sounds allow owls to communicate and you know different sounds
05:54 mean different things . For example when an owl hoots
05:57 , it is claiming its territory . So the next
06:00 time you hear an owl hoot the owl might be
06:02 saying to other owls , hey , like this is
06:05 my area and I'll find your own area . This
06:08 is where I am staying . Who , Who ,
06:11 who owls are super awesome birds . What was your
06:19 favorite owl fact ? Comment below And let us know
06:23 we would love to hear from you . That would
06:25 be really cool . You know , we didn't even
06:29 mention how owls can use camouflage . Very impressive job
06:33 out . You know , just hiding in plain sight
06:36 . It's a good thing . We're not mice hanging
06:37 around your tree . When we hope you had fun
06:41 learning about owls with us . Don't forget to tell
06:43 us your favorite owl fact . That would be really
06:46 neat . Almost as neat as this owl's camouflage skills
06:50 . You know , actually even neater . Mhm .
06:57 So where are we going next ? It's really up
07:00 to you . Here are two videos you can watch
07:03 . You know , if you want to keep learning
