00:0-1 Good day and welcome to Tech Mouth channel . I'm
00:01 josh . This problem is stumped . A lot of
00:03 people see if you can solve it . Three men
00:05 go into a store and buy radio for which the
00:08 clerk charges them $300 . Let's put the cost .
00:11 And so each man pays $100 each and then the
00:13 men take the radio and they leave . Later ,
00:16 the manager tells the clerk that he's overcharged the men
00:19 and that the actual cost of the radio should have
00:21 only been $250 . He gives the clerk $50 and
00:25 tells him to take it back to the men .
00:27 So on the way to returning the money , the
00:28 clerk decides to cheat the man and he pockets $20
00:31 of the 50 returning $10 to each of the men
00:34 . So here's our problem . Each of the three
00:36 men paid $90 . That's $100 . Take away the
00:39 $10 have got returned And three times 90 is equal
00:43 to 270 plus . There's $20 at the clerk kept
00:46 . 270 plus , $20 is equal to $290 .
00:50 They paid $300 originally . Where did the other $10
00:54 go , pause this video of your life to get
00:56 this problem and try and when you're ready to see
00:58 how to solve it , started up again . So
01:10 time's up the German to solve it or you couldn't
01:12 work it out . Maybe . Anyway , here's a
01:14 solution . What happened to the other $10 . So
01:17 there are two ways that we can account for where
01:18 the money is gone . The first way , let's
01:20 start with the $300 that the men originally spent .
01:24 So of this $250 went towards the radio . The
01:28 clerk he pocketed $20 and each of the men got
01:32 $10 . So that's $30 . And if we add
01:35 all this together , 250 plus 20 plus 30 .
01:38 Well , this actually adds up to 300 . No
01:41 problem there . Right . The second way we can
01:43 account for the money is by looking at the $270
01:46 . The men actually spent three times 90 . So
01:49 of this $250 went to the radio Into the till
01:54 of the person who sold the radio and $20 went
01:57 to the Dodgy clerk who stole the money . 250
02:00 plus 20 . Once again , no problem . This
02:02 adds up to $270 . So what's the problem with
02:06 this ? Missing $10 . So let's go back to
02:08 the original problem that said the three men paid $90
02:11 each , three times 90 is equal to 270 plus
02:14 $20 . A clerk pocketed equals $290 . The problem
02:19 that we have is this part here with that little
02:21 phrase plus $20 at the clerk took and this is
02:24 deceptive because this should not be added . It should
02:27 be subtracted since the $20 at the clerk took is
02:30 part of the original 270 here . So 270 take
02:35 away 20 . Our answer would indeed be 250 which
02:39 was the price of the radio . So there is
02:42 no missing money . So another deceptive question , Right
02:45 ? You guys are never gonna trust me again .
02:46 Thanks to poor er Yeah , I'm shitty for sending
02:48 me this particular question . I hope I did it
02:51 justice anyway . As usual , thank you for watching
02:53 the tech Math channel . Be sure if you like
02:55 this video to give me a big thumbs up and
