00:16	did you go ? Did you get the answer of
00:18	5.2 if you did well done , that is the
00:21	correct answer . If not not to worry because right
00:24	now I'm going to show you how to go through
00:26	and work out these types of questions pretty much instantly
00:29	. Well , under three seconds anyway , so sit
00:31	back and enjoy . So the way we're going to
00:33	solve these types of questions is we're going to break
00:36	our percentages into different amounts . For instance , 13%
00:39	we have a 10% part and 31% parts . A
00:42	percentage is really easy to work out . Especially percentages
00:45	of certain amounts . 100% of a number . Well
00:49	, that's a nice easy one to work out because
00:51	100% of a number percentage is a measure out of
00:54	100 100% of 40 . Well that's nice and easy
00:57	is equal to 40 . But we can also easily
01:00	work out 50% of the number . 50% of a
01:03	number . Well That's just going to be half over
01:06	100% . So half of 40 Is equal to 20
01:09	. 10% . Well , 10% of the number is
01:13	1/10 of that number . So what we do is
01:15	we get our amount here and we divide by 10
01:17	40 divided by 10 is equal to four . As
01:21	you can imagine 5% nice and easy to work out
01:23	because it's just half of 10% . So we divide
01:27	by 10 , we get four and then we have
01:29	our it's our and get to finally we can easily
01:32	work out 1% of the number because 1% of a
01:35	number is just the same as dividing by 100 .
01:38	It's 1 1/100 of a number . So the way
01:41	we do this is we divide 40 by 100 .
01:43	We move the decimal place two times still left .
01:46	12 we get the answer of 0.4 . And as
01:50	you can see here we can work out these parts
01:52	that we're gonna be breaking down into . Really simply
01:55	We don't have to do is for every single amount
01:57	every single time , just for the amounts that we're
02:00	concerned with . So let me show you this .
02:01	So if we consider 13% of 40 as you can
02:04	see we have a 10% part here and 31% parts
02:08	here . So the first thing we don't do is
02:10	we're going to work out 10% of 40 . of
02:14	40 . Nice and easy to work out . Well
02:16	that's going to be equal to four . We just
02:19	divide by 10 . The next thing we can do
02:21	is we can work out 1% . So 1% of
02:24	40 . Well that's pretty simple . We just divide
02:26	by 100 and we get the answer of 0.4 ,
02:31	but we don't want just one of these as you
02:33	can see for 13% , we're gonna need three of
02:36	them . So 0.4 times three is equal to 1.2
02:41	. Now . Finally , what we do is we
02:43	just get our two answers here and we add them
02:46	together . So four plus one point to our answer
02:50	5.2 . So how is that a nice easy way
02:54	of working out percentages of any amount . Do realize
02:57	obviously like any mental math techniques be bit flexible with
03:01	this . You are going to see easier ways to
03:03	do particular questions and where you can do that do
03:06	that . But I find overall this is one of
03:09	the best ways of going through . I'm working at
03:11	mental percentages of amounts . So what about to give
03:15	a couple of these for you to try ? So
03:17	what about three of these you can do right now
03:19	? The first one I'm going to give you nice
03:21	and easy . 21% of 70 and I reckon you
03:26	should be able to do that one without too much
03:27	fuss . The next one we're going to do ,
03:30	what about we do 32% of 75 . I reckon
03:35	this . You got to give that one a fair
03:36	go to the last one will make it a bit
03:38	harder . What about we do 56% of 420 .
03:45	All right , pause the video . If you'd like

03:58	Anyway , let's have a look at the answers here
04:00	. So first off we have 21% of 70 .
04:04	Now , as you can see here , we could
04:06	break this 21% up into the following , could have
04:09	two lots of 10% , which we can work at
04:12	10% . Really easy . And we also have one
04:15	lot of the 1% , which we can also work
04:18	out fairly simply as well . So 10% nice and
04:21	easy to work out as you remember , is literally
04:24	dividing by 10-70 , divided by 10 is equal to
04:27	seven to lots of this is equal to 14 1%
04:32	. Well we're dividing our 70 by 100 So divided
04:35	by 100 is 0.7 . Okay . And what we
04:39	do now is just at our two answers together .
04:41	14 plus 0.7 gives us a final answer of 14.7
04:47	And you go with that one and you go ,
04:48	okay , so let's go through the next one .
04:50	We have 32% of 75 . Now look , you
04:53	might realize you can attack this by making this 75%
04:57	of 32 and making this a really easy question .
04:59	And if you did that , congratulations that we spotted
05:01	that , But I'm not going to do that right
05:03	now . What I'm gonna do is I'm going to
05:05	work out 32% of 75 going this way . So
05:08	first off what we have is three lots of 10%
05:12	and we're gonna work out with that equals we also
05:14	have to lots of 1% and we will work out
05:17	what that equals Fairly simple . All right . Because
05:21	The way we'll get 10% is we just move the
05:23	decimal place one time 7.53 lots of 7.5 22.5 .
05:29	Nice and simple . 1% . Were moving the decimal
05:32	place twice . 0.75 . So two lots of that
05:36	is going to equal 1.5 . We add these together
05:39	. 22.5 Plus 1.5 . We get the answer of
05:43	24 . Hope you went all right with that one
05:46	. What about me now ? We get to the
05:48	last 1 , 56% of 420 . And I'll just
05:52	move that because I reckon we're gonna need a little
05:54	bit more space just to show you're working out there
05:56	. So first off , we're gonna break this into
05:58	the following . I'd break this into a 50% amount
06:01	. I'd break it into a 5% amount and I
06:04	break it into a 1% amount . And as you
06:06	can see these easily add up to 56 . So
06:09	we're going to work this out . So 50% of
06:12	420 is 210 , 5% . Well , this is
06:16	going to be this divided by 10 , so it's
06:18	going to be 21 , nice and simple 1% .
06:21	While we divide 420x100 , boom , boom , we
06:26	get the answer of 4.2 , we add all our
06:29	answers together . What did you get when you do
06:31	this ? 210 plus 21 is going to be 231
