| 00:23 | type of question ? How did you attempt to solve | |
| 00:25 | it ? What most people do is they will try | |
| 00:28 | first off to work out 40% of 100 and 10 | |
| 00:31 | , And then what I'll do once they have that | |
| 00:33 | answer is they will then subtracted from 110 to get | |
| 00:36 | their final answer , and this will give them the | |
| 00:38 | correct answer . Of course , however , there is | |
| 00:40 | a faster way , there is a way that you | |
| 00:42 | can do this type of question pretty much instantly . | |
| 00:44 | Not in five seconds , but instantly . And let | |
| 00:48 | me show you now how to do this . So | |
| 00:50 | let's start by looking at their example . So what | |
| 00:52 | we're going to be looking at is 100 and 10 | |
| 00:54 | minus 40% . The first step we do this occurs | |
| 00:58 | so quick . It doesn't really take any time at | |
| 01:00 | all . What we're going to do is we're going | |
| 01:01 | to get 100% and we're going to take 40% from | |
| 01:04 | its 100% take away 40% . This gives us 60% | |
| 01:09 | which is cool , Because what we're really trying to | |
| 01:11 | work out is we've got 100% here And we're taking | |
| 01:14 | 40% off it . We're really trying to work out | |
| 01:16 | the answer here , which is going to be 60% | |
| 01:18 | of 110 . So 60% of 110 , how can | |
| 01:23 | we do this almost straightaway ? Well , I'm going | |
| 01:26 | to show you . First off , let's work out | |
| 01:29 | 10% of 100 and 10 . 10% of 100 and | |
| 01:31 | 10 , Nice and easy is 1/10 of 100 and | |
| 01:34 | 10 . So what we're going to do is we'll | |
| 01:35 | start here and we're going to divide by 10 . | |
| 01:38 | Move the decimal place left one time , which will | |
| 01:40 | give us the answer of 11 , We're not after | |
| 01:44 | 10% , where after 60% , which is six times | |
| 01:48 | as much . So we're going to go six times | |
| 01:51 | 11 and get our final answer six times 11 gives | |
| 01:55 | us this answer of 66 . So how is that | |
| 01:58 | ? A really fast way of working at percentage discounts | |
| 02:01 | almost instantly . And this is a great trick for | |
| 02:03 | working at those percentage discounts when you go shopping where | |
| 02:06 | the discounts are often nice and round percentages like 20% | |
| 02:10 | , 30% , off . So what were our steps | |
| 02:14 | first off ? What we did is we win 100% | |
| 02:16 | , take away 40% and 60% and then we worked | |
| 02:19 | at 60% of 110 , which we could do really | |
| 02:23 | easy as you can see by working at 10% 1st | |
| 02:26 | and then multiplying by six lots in this particular case | |
| 02:30 | . So what about a few questions for you ? | |
| 02:31 | I'm going to give you four questions that you can | |
| 02:34 | practice on two of them when we take away percentages | |
| 02:36 | and two of them were we add on percentages . | |
| 02:38 | And I know I haven't discussed on how to add | |
| 02:40 | percentages on , let's see if you can work this | |
| 02:42 | out , but I will go through in the answers | |
| 02:44 | how to do it . Okay , so first off | |
| 02:46 | , let's start with 70 . And from this let's | |
| 02:49 | take 30% . The next one we're going to do | |
| 02:53 | is we're going to start with 120 . And from | |
| 02:55 | this let's take 60% . cool , let's do another | |
| 02:59 | one where we start with what about we have 50 | |
| 03:03 | ? And from this we're going to add 30% nice | |
| 03:07 | and easy . And finally what we'll do is let's | |
| 03:10 | get 40 and to this will add 20 awesome . | |
| 03:15 | So four questions for you , pause the video and | |

| 03:38 | 70% of 70 . All right , nice and easy | |
| 03:42 | because the first thing we're going to work out is | |
| 03:44 | 10% of 70 . 10% of 70 . Move the | |
| 03:47 | decimal place one time is equal to seven . Were | |
| 03:50 | working at seven lots of that . So seven times | |
| 03:53 | seven gives us our answer of 49 . So let's | |
| 03:57 | have a look at the next 121 is 60% . | |
| 04:00 | First off 100% minus 60% . Well , that's going | |
| 04:04 | to give us 40% . So we're going to be | |
| 04:06 | working at 40% of 120 . All right . How | |
| 04:11 | do we do that ? Well , first off we | |
| 04:12 | work out 10% 10% of 100 and 20 . Well | |
| 04:16 | we move the decimal place one time and get 12 | |
| 04:18 | and we're gonna be working out four lots of that | |
| 04:20 | . So four times 12 gives us 48 . Let's | |
| 04:25 | have a look at the next question . 50 plus | |
| 04:27 | 30% . Okay , so instead of getting 100 and | |
| 04:30 | taking 30% what we're going to do , you probably | |
| 04:33 | guessed it is . We're going to be adding 100% | |
| 04:36 | to it . So we're going to end up with | |
| 04:37 | 100 and 30% of 50 . So what does this | |
| 04:43 | equal ? Well , 10% of 50 is equal to | |
| 04:45 | five . We're going to be getting 13 lots of | |
| 04:48 | that . So what's that going to be ? 13 | |
| 04:50 | times five is equal to 65 . Finally , what | |
| 04:54 | we have is 40 plus 20% . So we're going | |
| 04:58 | to get 100 plus 20 is 100 and 20% And | |
| 05:02 | we're gonna be working this out of 40 and we'll | |
| 05:06 | see what this equals Simple . Okay , 10% of | |
| 05:09 | 40 is 420% . So we're gonna be going 12 | |
