03:38 | Hello , uh , someone's name . I can't read
03:41 | . Hi , Alexandra David Fatima . Hello everybody .
03:44 | Okay , we are here . Let's go to today's
03:48 | lesson topic if you missed it . Where's my mouth
03:51 | ? If you missed it ? Today's lesson is about
03:53 | how to explain your habits , how to explain your
03:56 | habits . So what does that mean ? So before
04:00 | we start , I want to cover again . What
04:02 | does habit mean , habit ? We often talk about
04:06 | bad habits , the negative things we do like maybe
04:09 | biting our nails or I don't know , eating too
04:13 | much junk food , those kinds of things . Today's
04:16 | lesson is going to be about your regular activities .
04:20 | How do we talk about the regular things like every
04:23 | week or the every day activities that we do ?
04:26 | How do we do that ? Uh in past tense
04:30 | and in present tense . So that's our topic for
04:33 | today . Let's take a look at today's lesson boards
04:36 | . If you want to take a picture of today's
04:38 | lesson boards , you can do so now or later
04:41 | . So here are our three topics for today .
04:45 | We're going to begin with simple presence tents . Uh
04:49 | then actually , sorry , we're going to talk about
04:51 | used to in part to actually sorry , my bed
04:53 | and then we're going to do would in the last
04:55 | part of the section . Sorry to put them out
04:57 | of order when I took this picture . But this
05:00 | is the topic for today . Let's get started .
05:02 | Ok ? Let's begin with simple present tense . Also
05:06 | , don't forget if you haven't already , make sure
05:08 | to hit the like button because it helps other people
05:10 | find the lesson . So let's begin . I will
05:14 | check you facebook . It's very warm right here .
05:17 | Sometimes my phone gets too hot in the sun .
05:19 | Okay , let's start with simple present tense , simple
05:23 | present tense . So we can use of course simple
05:27 | present tense to talk about our schedules and the everyday
05:31 | things we do . And it's one of the grammar
05:33 | points for today because we use simple present tense statements
05:40 | with expressions of frequency . What does that mean ?
05:43 | I'll explain in a moment with expressions of frequency to
05:48 | express habits or regular actions . So we use this
05:52 | grammar point to talk about something we do every day
05:56 | every week , every year and so on . We
05:59 | use this grammar plus an expression of frequency . So
06:05 | here are some examples . For example , every day
06:09 | , every week , every month , every hour ,
06:12 | you kind of get the idea Yeah , every year
06:14 | . Every summer and so on every season . Whatever
06:18 | . Some other examples are things like these all the
06:22 | time . All the time is a casual way to
06:24 | say . Very often I do that all the time
06:28 | . Is saying I do that very often in a
06:30 | more casual way . Or sometimes of course , never
06:35 | as well . We can do something 0% of the
06:39 | time . So we express our current actions with this
06:44 | when we want to talk about something . That is
06:47 | true . Now we can do that with this grammar
06:51 | point . Let's look at some examples here I have
06:55 | in blue , the blue underline is the verb ,
06:58 | The red underline is the expression of frequency . So
07:03 | while I look at uh these examples , your your
07:09 | your your homework for your livestream homework if you're watching
07:13 | live or later is to describe a regular action in
07:17 | your life . So try to use this grammar to
07:19 | send a comment in the live chat . Yeah ,
07:22 | I'll try to check live . Okay , let's look
07:24 | at some examples . So for example , I go
07:28 | to the gym every day . I go to the
07:31 | gym every day . So here's my verb in simple
07:35 | present tense because my subject is I , so now
07:39 | I went to the gym every day , that's past
07:41 | tense , I go to the gym every day .
07:45 | This sentence is also correct . I go to the
07:48 | gym , we don't know how often , but I
07:52 | go to the gym every day . So every day
07:55 | is my frequency expression . Okay , all right ,
08:00 | Next one he visits his family . Every christmas ,
08:04 | he visits his family every christmas one point lots of
08:09 | people forget this ? S right here , not he
08:11 | visit , he visit is incorrect . He visits his
08:15 | family every christmas here's my frequency expression . Yeah .
08:21 | Okay . Good . Um , some examples are coming
08:25 | in . Uh , good ones . I never give
08:28 | up . I go to school every week day .
08:29 | Good . I usually go to my uncle's house every
08:32 | summer . Nice examples . Everybody sees our CSR says
08:35 | I visit my best friend every year . Good .
08:38 | Uh , no one says I change , I change
08:41 | not change is we use that ? S for he
08:44 | she in its subjects to win . I change diapers
08:48 | for my baby every app every hour , every hour
08:51 | . Okay , great . Good examples . Then another
08:55 | one we go hiking all the time . So here's
08:59 | that all the time frequency expression . We go hiking
09:01 | all the time instead of saying very often this is
09:05 | more natural , at least in american english . If
09:08 | I say we go hiking very often , it sounds
09:11 | a little too polite for everyday conversation . So typically
09:16 | we use all the time . All the time .
09:19 | Okay . Here's a negative . You never eat junk
09:23 | food . You never eat junk food . You're so
09:25 | healthy . You never eat junk food . Okay .
09:28 | And one more , she sometimes cooks at home .
09:32 | She sometimes cooks at home . All right . So
09:35 | this is the most basic way to talk about a
09:39 | regular action , something that we do now uh with
09:43 | some kind of frequency every week , every day ,
09:46 | every hour . Yeah , many good examples are coming
09:49 | in . I watch your videos every day . Say
09:51 | many people . Fantastic . That's great . I'm happy
09:54 | to hear that . Shereen says I play with my
09:57 | daughter every night . Very nice . Nice example ,
09:59 | sentence um Javier I go to the park at morning
10:04 | . I go to the park in the morning in
10:06 | the morning . We use at four night . Yeah
10:08 | . I go to the park in the morning .
10:10 | Okay . Um I dive into Youtube all the time
10:14 | . Nice , nice , good , nice examples .
10:17 | Okay Jonathan , what means hiking ? Uh When you
10:21 | ask this question , what does hiking mean ? What
10:24 | does hiking mean hiking ? It means going for a
10:27 | walk in the mountains , like a challenging walk in
10:31 | the mountains . Okay . All right , nice .
10:35 | Good examples . That is part one . How to
10:38 | express your regular activities with simple present tense . So
10:43 | let's take one short break to think about that and
10:47 | then we'll go to part two . We're going to
10:49 | go to the past for part two . So if
10:52 | you missed it , if you want to pick up
10:54 | some vocabulary practice sheets , you can take a look
10:58 | at these . There are many different topics , pets
11:01 | and so on and on the back Here let's look
11:04 | at this one , the supermarket one . There are
11:06 | vocabulary words you can use here . Yes , but
11:09 | on the back you'll find some expressions depending on the
11:13 | one you choose . Uh and some discussion points too
11:17 | . So things you can say uh throughout these activities
11:21 | . And there are some new pdf you can download
11:24 | that have conversational phrases , like whole conversations to correct
11:29 | . So you can download all of these from the
11:31 | link below the video or above the video , Check
11:34 | that out . Okay , so let's go to part
11:37 | two . Also if you haven't , please make sure
11:39 | to like this video . Yeah . So other people
11:42 | can find the lesson . Actually I'm going to share
11:44 | the video now . Here I go share . Okay
11:46 | , I didn't do that but I'm done . Okay
11:50 | , so let's go to part two . Let's talk
11:53 | about how to use used to we're going to use
11:57 | this to express our past habits . So uh I'm
12:02 | going to many of you probably are going to say
12:05 | what's the difference between used to and would we're going
12:08 | to talk about ? Would in part three for today's
12:11 | lesson . So let's look at used to used to
12:14 | used to so we use used to to express actions
12:20 | or conditions that were true in the past , but
12:25 | that are not true now this is a key point
12:29 | true in the past , but that are not true
12:32 | now . So you we wouldn't use we don't use
12:36 | used to to talk about an activity that we did
12:40 | in the past and we do now we don't use
12:42 | it in this way . The change is a key
12:45 | point at this grammar . Okay , so how do
12:50 | we make an expression ? How do we make a
12:52 | phrase with ? Used to we use subject plus used
12:57 | to plus our base verb . So it's like the
13:00 | infinitive form , this two plus your base for Yeah
13:03 | . Used to used to and in speech it sounds
13:06 | like used to like this . D . Sound sounds
13:10 | very short . I used to I used to we
13:12 | connect this D . And T together . Used to
13:15 | used to Okay , but when you're writing typically we
13:20 | use this D . So how do we use used
13:24 | to again we need to express a change . For
13:27 | example , I used to see my friends every day
13:32 | at school . I used to see my friends every
13:35 | day at school . Okay , so the feeling with
13:39 | this sentence is I used to see my friends every
13:42 | day at school , but now I do not see
13:46 | my friends every day at school . This used to
13:51 | communicate all of that . We don't have to include
13:56 | but now I don't . So if it's helpful you
13:59 | can imagine all of these sentences end with but now
14:07 | I don't like this . So imagine all of these
14:13 | sentences finish with but now I don't but because we
14:18 | use used to we don't need to include this part
14:21 | here . Just I used to see my friends every
14:24 | day at school . Okay . Claude Revenge on facebook
14:28 | has a good example . I used to be in
14:30 | good shape but not nowadays . Yeah , many people
14:33 | can relate to that I think for sure . Great
14:36 | example . Okay send me your example . So this
14:39 | is your homework question here , describe something in your
14:42 | life that was true in the past , but that
14:45 | is not true now , okay , let's go to
14:48 | some more examples . We used to sorry uh we
14:52 | used to visit my grandparents house every holiday . We
14:57 | used to visit my grandparents house every holiday , but
15:01 | now we don't . So this is showing the change
15:05 | now we do not do that . We used to
15:07 | visit , we used to visit . Okay , good
15:13 | . Uh Sergio , you say I used to watch
15:15 | your on facebook . Sergio Hernandez . You say I
15:17 | used to watch your videos . So again , that
15:20 | means you do not watch my videos anymore . If
15:23 | you use this grammar point and you say I used
15:25 | to watch your videos , it means you do not
15:28 | watch my videos now , but you are watching my
15:30 | video now . So how is that ? True ?
15:33 | Okay , so we use this to talk about something
15:35 | that is not true now . Okay . Maybe you
15:39 | could say I used to watch your videos every day
15:42 | now . I watch my favorite video every week .
15:45 | Maybe that's good for you . Okay . Uh ratio
15:48 | one of our members on Youtube . Hello . I
15:50 | used to go to the cinema . Yeah . Before
15:52 | the pandemic . I used to go to the cinema
15:54 | . Nice example . Okay , Good , good ,
15:57 | good . Uh Cynthia Reese says I used to play
16:00 | video games games with my brother . Good , good
16:03 | , good . Sow says I used to hug my
16:05 | boyfriend . Yeah , chang says I used to study
16:08 | english every day . Good examples , everyone . Okay
16:12 | . Uh Good question . Mr Dawn on Youtube says
16:16 | do we use didn't for the negative ? Yes ,
16:18 | we can use didn't it's not so common to make
16:23 | a negative sentence with this grammar point . For example
16:26 | , I didn't use to see my friends every day
16:29 | at school . You can use that . Typically we
16:32 | talk we want to compare something we actually did in
16:37 | the past . But yes , if you want to
16:39 | express something you did not do in the past but
16:43 | that you now do , it's not so common .
16:46 | But yes , you can use didn't hear you did
16:50 | it here . Okay , let's go to another example
16:53 | . My brother used to hate bananas . My brother
16:56 | used to hate bananas . So this pattern is really
16:59 | useful to talk about changes in your food and drink
17:03 | preferences . Something you hated to eat when you were
17:07 | a little kid . Like this is a great grammar
17:09 | point to describe that . Okay , you can use
17:12 | this to talk about your habits , your bad habits
17:15 | and your good habits as well . Like some people
17:17 | , many people I used to work out every day
17:20 | . I used to work out all the time .
17:22 | Oh , David says , David Weiland says I used
17:24 | to drink alcohol , but now I don't . Yeah
17:27 | . So this is a great example of how we
17:29 | can use these . Mm We should you speak spanish
17:33 | . I used to speak spanish . It's true .
17:37 | I took spanish lessons . I took spanish classes in
17:40 | high school . So I used to speak a little
17:42 | spanish , but now not so much . Okay ,
17:45 | one more example , my roommate and I used to
17:48 | be good friends . So this sentence because we use
17:52 | used to there's some drama here , right ? My
17:55 | roommate and I used to be good friends . Also
17:59 | . What happened ? Remember it's like saying , but
18:02 | now we're not . So you can use used to
18:07 | to show some change in your condition or in this
18:10 | case your relationship . My roommate and I used to
18:14 | be good friends , but now we're not what happened
18:19 | that we use used to to show changes and to
18:22 | talk about our past habits . Okay . Uh ,
18:25 | here Ito says they're used to lazy if you want
18:28 | to use an adjective . I used to be lazy
18:32 | . Don't forget beat you . Still you need a
18:34 | verb in that sentence . I used to be lazy
18:37 | or I used to be bad , whatever . I
18:40 | used to be adjective . Okay . Uh Deka says
18:45 | , how do I use supposed to ? It's a
18:47 | different grammar point from today . I think I have
18:50 | a video about it on the channel . Were you
18:52 | supposed to to talk about ? Uh , the responsibilities
18:56 | . We have someone else's responsibilities of us . It's
19:00 | a bit different from today's grammar point . Okay .
19:03 | All right . Nice example sentences everybody I'll go on
19:07 | , let's go on to the last grammar points .
19:09 | So great job with used to used to . So
19:12 | the key , is there some change in your ,
19:16 | in your behavior , some change in your condition you
19:19 | want to talk about . So let's take one more
19:23 | quick break and then we'll go to the last flight
19:25 | we're going to talk about would if you are just
19:28 | joining live or in case you want to see the
19:31 | left and title again . Today's topic is your habits
19:35 | were explaining habits With simple present part one used to
19:39 | ed wood . Okay . So let's take one more
19:42 | quick break . I will remind you if you're just
19:45 | joining . Uh , there's free stuff you can download
19:47 | from the link below the video . If you're watching
19:50 | on Youtube above the video . If you're watching on
19:52 | facebook , I showed you a couple of these earlier
19:55 | . Uh , here's a good one . Maybe hotels
19:59 | were not looking so much at spending time in hotels
20:02 | , but if you want to practise some conversations ,
20:05 | you can find key questions and answers on the back
20:08 | of this . So pick a topic that is interesting
20:11 | for you shoppers . Perhaps if you need some new
20:14 | clothes for the season , this will help you ,
20:17 | but you can choose whatever you like and download them
20:20 | . So check out the link below the video or
20:22 | above the video . Youtube . Below the video facebook
20:25 | , Above the video to get them . All right
20:28 | . Um , let's go to the last part .
20:30 | If you want to take a screenshot , take it
20:32 | now . A picture . Take a picture of today's
20:35 | lesson boards here . So part one was simple present
20:39 | tense . Part two . Sorry , it was used
20:41 | to now we're going to talk about part three .
20:44 | Would how do we use wood ? What is the
20:47 | difference between used to and would , let's find out
20:51 | . Okay , so would let's take a look .
20:56 | Okay , so we use wood in this grammar .
20:59 | Would has other uses . I'm not going to talk
21:03 | about all the uses of wood today in this lesson
21:07 | . I want to focus on this use of wood
21:10 | to talk about past habits . Yeah , so we
21:14 | used wood to describe repeated past actions , repeated past
21:19 | actions , usually from a very long time ago .
21:24 | So we used wood to talk about something we did
21:27 | when we were like a little kid or maybe in
21:32 | schools or in university , something like that . We
21:35 | don't really use wood to talk about something from last
21:39 | month or like last week . We want to kind
21:43 | of make the feeling of uh like a long or
21:46 | maybe like a distant memory . That's the feeling with
21:49 | wood . We use this to describe those kind of
21:53 | memory , uh like important memories . Okay then we
21:58 | also use this with a time period so we need
22:01 | to express some point in time , some time period
22:06 | that this memory happened . Okay , so let's look
22:09 | at some examples of this . And for those of
22:11 | you in the chat , you can , your homework
22:14 | is to describe a repeated action from your past with
22:18 | wood . So how do we do this ? A
22:21 | basic pattern is we begin with the past time period
22:25 | . So when I was a little kid or when
22:28 | I was in university or when I was in school
22:31 | , whatever , we have a past time period are
22:35 | subject would and our verb . So what does this
22:40 | look like ? Okay , for example , when I
22:44 | was a little kid , I would play with my
22:48 | friends every day . When I was a little kid
22:52 | , I would play with my friends every day .
22:55 | So here's my past time period when I was a
22:59 | little kid when I was a little kid . So
23:02 | this gives we understand the like the memory time period
23:07 | of the memory here . Okay , then I would
23:11 | play with my friends every day . So using wood
23:15 | here shows it was a habit of repeated action of
23:18 | some kind . You might think why not just say
23:22 | when I was a little kid , I played with
23:24 | my friends every day . Can I say that ?
23:26 | Yes , you can 100% . When I was a
23:28 | little kid , I played with my friends every day
23:31 | . That sentence sounds like a simple fact that sentences
23:35 | like basic information . This was an activity I did
23:39 | . However , if you use wood when I was
23:42 | a little kid , I would play with my friends
23:44 | every day . This sounds like a memory , a
23:48 | repeated activity . It sounds more like something you want
23:52 | to remember . Like a special memory about your past
23:56 | . Okay . Uh Good , good , good .
23:59 | Yes . Many people are saying wood can be used
24:02 | for this . Wood can be used for that .
24:03 | Yes , you're all correctly . You can use wood
24:05 | for many other things . Today's focus is one use
24:09 | of wood . Okay . All right . Uh Oh
24:12 | , Diana , I just saw Diana on facebook when
24:15 | I was a child . I would spend time in
24:17 | video games every day uh , to make it more
24:20 | natural . When I was a child , I would
24:22 | spend time playing video games everyday . Yeah . Good
24:27 | job , good job . Okay . Uh , Cynthia
24:30 | says when I was very young , I would go
24:32 | to the beach with my aunt every summer . Very
24:34 | nice , very nice . So this has the feeling
24:37 | of a memory , like a happy memory . Yeah
24:40 | . Allah Rassam says when I was a kid ,
24:42 | I would fight with my brother . Yeah , that's
24:44 | a good one . Yeah . Very common memory from
24:46 | a long time ago . So you get the feeling
24:49 | , it's from like , it's like a childhood memory
24:51 | or a school time memory , something like that .
24:54 | Okay . Um , could even says when I was
24:57 | a little kid , I would build castles made of
24:59 | sand . Yeah , you can say sandcastle as well
25:02 | . Sandcastle to make it shorter . Nice . Okay
25:05 | , Guillermo says when I was younger , I used
25:08 | to be , when I was younger , I was
25:10 | in good shape because I would work out every day
25:12 | . Okay , so maybe you don't need used to
25:15 | in that sentence . When I was younger , I
25:17 | was in good shape because I would work out every
25:19 | day . Okay . You don't have to say used
25:21 | to for that past situation . Yeah . Okay .
25:25 | Um , good . Let's look at another example .
25:28 | When we were in college , we would go to
25:30 | parties every weekend . So this is something a memory
25:34 | you share with someone else when we , so maybe
25:37 | a partner or a good friend of yours or your
25:40 | roommate when we were in college , we would go
25:43 | to parties every weekend . Yeah . So a college
25:46 | or school memory . All right . And then one
25:50 | more when he lived far away from his parents ,
25:54 | he would call to say hello weekly . When he
25:58 | lived far away from his parents , he would call
26:02 | to say hello weekly . So you can use this
26:05 | to talk about those nice memories or sometimes like fighting
26:08 | with your brother . You can use it to talk
26:10 | about those kinds of memories to , Oh wow ,
26:13 | lots of questions and examples are coming in on facebook
26:15 | . Hey , um , let's see . Gulnara says
26:18 | when I was a child , I would cook with
26:20 | mom every day . Very nice , very nice example
26:23 | . Uh , so how many days you teach every
26:25 | week ? This live stream is once a week .
26:27 | Always at this time . But of course we have
26:29 | many videos on Youtube and on facebook . So check
26:33 | them out . The english class 11 Youtube channel is
26:36 | very easy to search . We have many videos ,
26:38 | their grammar , lots of lessons that I've done in
26:41 | some others too . So please have a look .
26:44 | Uh , Andalusia says when I was 15 I would
26:47 | work in a fishing factory every day . Great .
26:50 | Okay . Um , when I was a teenager ,
26:52 | I would swim with friends every Sunday . Great example
26:55 | . Oh , you have such nice memories . These
26:57 | , these are really nice memories . I liked it
26:59 | . Okay . Um , let's see . Minal says
27:04 | I would eat oily foods when I was young .
27:07 | Okay . Maybe it's hard to eat those things now
27:10 | . Nice examples . Great examples . Okay , Nice
27:14 | one . So , some people , just really quickly
27:16 | , there are many comments some people are using will
27:19 | hear . You can't use will in this grammar .
27:23 | You have to use wood to talk about your memories
27:25 | . So we don't we cannot change will and would
27:29 | or swap the tube in this grammar . Okay .
27:32 | Um , let's see . Uh , there's some questions
27:38 | . I'm not sure it would possible . Is this
27:40 | phrase used for , I'm not sure what it would
27:42 | possible means . Can you give me an example example
27:45 | symptoms ? All right . So there's a good negative
27:49 | , nice example of a negative Catherine . Uh ,
27:53 | Loretta , I hope I said your name right on
27:55 | facebook says when I was in university I wouldn't go
27:58 | out with my friends . Good example . So you
28:00 | can use this to talk about something you regularly did
28:04 | not do as a kind of memory . I wouldn't
28:07 | go out with them like I wasn't comfortable or I
28:10 | didn't like to go to parties or whatever . Okay
28:13 | , great example of everyone . Alright ? Yeah ,
28:16 | someone is sending lots of emojis on facebook . Can
28:18 | you stop that ? Please be polite to your fellow
28:20 | classmates . All right . So , um Daniel says
28:25 | , can I use will to talk about habits in
28:28 | the present ? No , you cannot . We use
28:30 | will to talk about our future tense . Uh to
28:34 | talk about our future plans that we decide During the
28:37 | conversation . If you missed part one . How to
28:40 | talk about your habits in present . Please use simple
28:43 | present tense . So we talked about this in part
28:45 | one of today's lesson . So you can watch this
28:47 | lesson . It is being recorded . Uh , so
28:50 | when I finish you can watch it back . Okay
28:53 | ? I have to say goodbye . Oh my gosh
28:55 | , I'm late . So I have to say goodbye
28:57 | there uh , for today . But fantastic example sentences
29:00 | and great questions , everybody . That was fantastic .
29:03 | I have to finish there . But if you want

29:18 | true in the past , but that are not true
29:20 | now and would talking about past memories and past habits
29:25 | . Uh , pretty good . So now you can
29:28 | talk all about your habits and the things you did
29:31 | now for things you do now and things you did
