00:00 Welcome to the Tech Math Channel . What we're gonna
00:02 be having a look at today is going to be
00:03 having a look at part to sort of a video
00:06 I've been doing , which is looking at an easy
00:08 way of doing long division . So we're having the
00:10 last lesson , we were looking at dividing 19 into
00:13 numbers . This time we're going to be using numbers
00:15 which end in nine . Also , they were going
00:17 to start getting into harder numbers . But I really
00:20 recommend you have a look at the link if you
00:21 haven't had a look at the earlier video already .
00:23 But anyway , we're going to move on now to
00:26 numbers that still ending nine but get a little bit
00:27 more complex are the first ones we're going to be
00:30 dealing with . We're gonna be dealing still with multipliers
00:32 and things like this . But I'm going to be
00:33 dividing 29 into 3124 . And so let's have a
00:41 look at how we do this . Now , last
00:43 lesson we have to look at , we're having a
00:44 look at these things called multiplies . First off ,
00:47 what we have to do is realize which number is
00:50 this closest to in terms of 10 . So it's
00:51 closest to 30 . So I'm going to put the
00:53 three from the 30 there . The only thing we
00:55 have to know is how many steps , How many
00:58 numbers do we have to move to get to that
00:59 30 ? Which is a plus one . Okay .
01:02 We have to add 1-29 to get 30 and this
01:05 is known as how multiplier . Now the multiplier is
01:10 not going to seem that important again in today's video
01:12 , but I'm going to keep mentioning it because it's
01:14 really , really anything to know that something is very
01:17 important . Okay , the other thing to remember is
01:20 this very last number is our remainder number . We
01:24 we treat that a little bit differently . Okay ,
01:26 so let's start out doing this . So how do
01:29 we do this ? Well , we start with this
01:30 first number , so we got three and we divide
01:33 three into it . So what's three divided by three
01:36 ? That's one . Okay , That's always a nice
01:39 easy one to work out . And we're not going
01:41 to do much to that . Okay , this one
01:45 here , as we're doing in the last video ,
01:47 our answer that we got for the previous numbers affects
01:51 the numbers we get for this next part of our
01:53 answer . Okay , This is kind of a cool
01:55 thing I find with this , but the numbers we
01:57 get previously affect our other answers to get the correct
02:01 answer . Okay ? So what we do here ?
02:03 Yes , we've got a okay , A one .
02:06 And what we have to do is To this one
02:10 . We add the number here , which is this
02:14 number up here , times by a multiplier . So
02:16 one times one Which is one . We get the
02:20 answer of two and this is the number , we're
02:22 dividing three into two , divided by three . Well
02:26 we can't do we get a remainder of two ?
02:28 I'm going to put that there and I'll get this
02:30 answer of zero . Okay , did you get that
02:35 ? We'll go through that again . And sorry .
02:39 Here we go , where are we ? So there
02:42 we go , 22 and we get this zero and
02:46 we times it by the multiplier . So zero times
02:48 one is nothing unfortunately . So we don't have to
02:51 add anything to this . And then we divide this
02:53 number by three , 22 divided by three equals seven
02:57 . Up with the seven up there with the remainder
02:59 of one . I'll put the one down here .
03:01 Now what we're doing is we're working at the remainder
03:04 . Okay , pretty easy this question , like changing
03:07 one's perfect , purposely easier . Get harder . Next
03:10 question . Okay , so this one here , what
03:12 do we do ? We get 14 ? And what
03:17 we again have to do is we have to add
03:19 this number on which has been times by the multiplier
03:22 . Okay , so seven times one is seven And
03:24 we're going to add that to our 14 here .
03:27 So we get the answer of 21 , this is
03:30 our remainder remainder is 21 , So the answer is
03:34 107 remainder . 21 . Pretty cool . Right ,
03:39 Okay . Let me give you a harder question now
03:43 . All right , Rub all those out . Keep
03:47 the multiply there because we're going to be talking about
03:49 him again and I'm not going to be letting him
03:51 go but say we do 59 and we will divide
03:56 into that . Well , we're going to divide that
04:00 into 63,214 . So let's first off if we add
04:07 one which is our multiply now . Okay ? We
04:10 have to add one . And again that becomes our
04:15 multiply . We get very very close . 26 Okay
04:19 , so six goes into six once attack this three
04:23 here . These three we add two . One times
04:30 multiplier . Okay , so one times multiplier is one
04:33 . So one times one is 13 plus one equals
04:36 four . So four divided by six equals we just
04:40 get a remainder of four . We're still getting a
04:42 zero there . Were getting a zero there . We
04:44 get a remainder of four there . So this leads
04:47 us to the next number . Okay , So we've
04:53 got 42 , 42 . We're going to add to
04:56 that zero times the multiply . Which army is going
04:59 to be zero . So 42 we now just divide
05:02 by six . So 42 divided by six equals seven
05:06 . Okay , this is a seven here . All
05:09 right . All good . Let's get on to this
05:12 next No . zero remainder there by the way .
05:15 Okay . So what we do now is we get
05:17 this one here . We're working at this number here
05:20 . So this one and we add to this one
05:23 seven times the multiplier because So seven times 1 is
05:29 seven . So we're gonna add that on . So
05:32 we get the answer of one plus seven equals eight
05:35 . Now we divide six into it and we get
05:37 the answer of one with a remainder of two .
05:40 So there's my one and I'm gonna put it to
05:42 down there . Now what you probably remember now and
05:45 you probably you realized I might have forgotten . This
05:49 is our remainder number . This last number . Okay
05:55 , Now how do we work this number ? It's
05:56 a slightly different one . We get this 24 here
05:59 . And what we do is we add this times
06:03 the multiply . So one times one we're going to
06:06 add one to it and so 24 plus 21 plus
06:10 one equals 25 . We get a remainder 25 and
06:15 that's our answer . Pretty cool . Right ? The
06:18 next video , we're going to start getting even harder
06:19 than this , so make sure you know how to
06:21 do those . It's really , really , really ,
06:23 really , really a much easier way than doing standard
06:26 long division anyway . Any questions let us know ,
06:29 we'll see you next time .
