00:0-1 | Good day . Welcome to the Tech Math channel .
00:02 | Don't be looking at in this video is how to
00:04 | subtract decimals . So Without much further Ado I'll give
00:07 | you an example of where we're doing this . So
00:09 | the example I'm going to use to our show how
00:11 | to do this is this 132 567 And we're going
00:19 | to take from this one 0.3 died . Okay .
00:24 | Yeah . We're subtracting any number from one another .
00:27 | But especially so with decimals , it's really , really
00:30 | important that we line up numbers are the same place
00:32 | together . So we're gonna write this . So these
00:34 | this one's on top of this one and we're gonna
00:37 | line these up . So units are above units and
00:39 | tens or above 10 . Well there's no tens but
00:41 | 10th or above tens and hundreds or above hundreds .
00:44 | And as well with these sort of decimals line up
00:47 | with one another as well . So we do this
00:50 | as well , look like this . So I'll start
00:52 | off with 32.5 67 Are we going to take away
01:00 | one point 39 And you're going to see the units
01:04 | lined up the decimals lineup , the 10th lineup and
01:08 | 100 slaughter . Okay , so we can start actually
01:12 | then subtracting there . So first off what I'm gonna
01:16 | do with this , I'm actually gonna put a zero
01:18 | here just in the minute when you're first doing these
01:20 | , I think it's really , really important when you
01:22 | do this is a good little step to put in
01:24 | this way you pat it out . Uh just so
01:26 | all of our numbers have the same link . So
01:29 | this has a number here with three decimal places .
01:32 | This only has two decimal place . I'm gonna put
01:34 | a zero there Just to avoid any little confusion .
01:37 | It's a seven take away zero is seven . Six
01:42 | take away nine . Now we can't do that because
01:45 | six is smaller than nine . So we must borrow
01:48 | one from over here . So five becomes a fall
01:52 | And one goes over here so it becomes 1616 take
01:56 | away nine . It's seven . There we go .
02:00 | To this attempts here . four take away three is
02:03 | 1 . The decimal place goes here To take away
02:06 | one is 1 and three take away nothing . three
02:10 | Take away . Well nothing is three . So We
02:14 | have an answer of 31.177 . That's pretty easy .
02:19 | Right ? I'll tell you what , I'll go through
02:21 | one more example of these uh just so you can
02:24 | pick these up . Okay ? So for example ,
02:28 | I'll go through with this one . It's a slight
02:30 | variation to this one is where we're going to have
02:33 | a say 26 .4 and I'm going to take away
02:39 | 12 point three four . Okay . Now the way
02:46 | we do this is as follows . Okay , we
02:48 | get again we're gonna like them so everything lines up
02:50 | this this number really didn't work very well . Just
02:52 | fix it up there . So all right , everything
02:55 | . So again the tens line up , The units
02:58 | lined up the decimals lineup . The 10th line up
03:01 | And there's only one with hundreds . So let's do
03:03 | this . So 20 6.4 and I'm going to take
03:08 | away 12 point 34 And once again you're gonna notice
03:17 | , I'll put a little line under here that this
03:19 | one is one decimal place . This one is two
03:22 | decimal places . So I'm going to pad it out
03:23 | with an extra zero here . It's really really important
03:26 | to do this , especially where these numbers on top
03:28 | . So it's a good habit to get into .
03:30 | So we started we got zero takeaway for we can't
03:34 | do so we're gonna have to borrow one from here
03:36 | . So we have this becomes a three . This
03:38 | becomes a 1 10 take away four six three take
03:43 | away three zero . The decimal place goes there .
03:47 | six take away too is four . And to take
03:52 | my one it's one . So our answer is 14.06
03:58 | . Hey that's the way you used to attract decimals
04:00 | . Future videos are gonna be looking at how to
04:02 | multiply decimals and divide decimals . Okay so I hope
04:05 | to see you then . See you . Bye . |
