00:0-1 Welcome to the Tech Math channel . What we're gonna
00:02 be having a look at this video is how to
00:04 divide decimals . Okay , uh Now look , dividing
00:08 decimals is much like dividing normal numbers . It's just
00:11 got a couple little tweaks to it . And especially
00:13 if you've already started multiplying decimals and you're pretty confident
00:16 with that , you'd probably be pretty good with this
00:18 . So I want to go through a few examples
00:21 to show this . So first off , an example
00:23 we might use is , what we will use is
00:25 we will do 25.68 and we're gonna divide that By
00:34 0.4 . Now , when we do this , as
00:36 I said , it's fairly similar to normal division .
00:38 In fact , I'm going to treat this initially like
00:40 normal division , so I'm going to actually treat this
00:42 like 2568 divided by four . And then we're going
00:46 to deal with the decimal places because It's going to
00:50 end up with the same numbers . If it was
00:51 2,568 , divided by four , it's just the decimal
00:54 place is going to be in different spots . So
00:57 first off , let's do this in . So let's
00:59 go to 568 Are we going to divide this by
01:09 four ? So let's do this now . four into
01:13 two . We cannot do . So I put a
01:15 zero there 4 25 . That goes six times 6
01:20 . 24 and we're going to carry the one because
01:23 there's one left over 4 to 16 guys four times
01:29 With no remainder and 14 to 8 goes two times
01:34 to answer . It's 642 . Okay , so how
01:39 do we do with this test in place now ?
01:40 That's really , really easy . But it's a great
01:42 question . So first off , what we do is
01:44 we count the number of decimal places Uh here .
01:48 Okay , so there's 1 , 2 decimal places .
01:52 This is in our number that we're actually dividing and
01:56 this is another were divided by Okay . And there's
01:59 one decimal place And we get this over here too
02:03 and we take this one away so to take away
02:05 one his work . Okay . So we're gonna have
02:09 one decimal place . So with our one decimal waste
02:14 . That means Your answer has one decimal place .
02:16 So the answer is 64 . What ? Okay .
02:24 All right . How did you go with that ?
02:26 I'll tell you what , We'll give you one more
02:27 example with this rough that out . And our example
02:32 will be as follows . So you're just you're just
02:34 going to do that with the deaths . It's fairly
02:36 simple . But you know how to do it .
02:38 So why don't we do this ? 132 15 We're
02:45 going to divide that By 0.00 five . Now look
02:52 being five moments , you know this is going to
02:54 go into fairly nice . We're gonna treat this once
02:57 again like 3215 , divided by Mhm . What ?
03:07 So let's do this , they're uh different color down
03:11 uh five and a three . We can't do so
03:13 I'm gonna put a zero down there . 532 goes
03:17 six times With two left over . 5 21 goes
03:23 four times with one left over and 5 15 those
03:28 three times . So we get this answer is 643
03:32 . So we have can we can't we can't with
03:34 the decimal places are going to go , we have
03:36 $3 here , They're behind the decimal place . We
03:40 have 123 numbers here that are behind the decimal places
03:44 to take away three Is -1 . This is a
03:49 bit of a trick . How can we put a
03:51 -1 decimal place and I'll show you how this is
03:55 here . So we have 643 and instead of going
04:01 this way , okay , putting your death always won
04:04 best ways . We're actually going to minus where we're
04:06 gonna go this way . Okay , someone's gonna go
04:09 here and here we put a zero . So answer
04:14 is 6430 . So if you're getting these negatives you're
04:18 actually going to add on an extra zero or an
04:21 extra couple of Zeros . Okay . Just a little
04:24 trick to be aware of , I'll tell you what
04:26 , I reckon we'll do one more . So the
04:30 one will do now is as follows . Uh We
04:35 will go UB 630 . Right , who won ?
04:43 Uh we're going to 19 and we're going to divide
04:47 that by , let's divide this by died . So
04:55 That's right this out as usual . six 38 1
05:01 9 . We're going to divide that by No .
05:06 So let's start making our answer here . Uh So
05:11 92 6 . We can't do 1963 or seven ,
05:18 So it's a 79 8 . We can't do .
05:21 So I put a zero there and carry the eight
05:23 . So 1981 guys nine times and 19-9 goes once
05:28 . So we have this answer of 7,091 . How
05:32 many different ways is are we going to have we
05:34 have to hear we have done here . So to
05:40 take away nothing is we should end up with two
05:43 decimal places . Okay ? To take away nothing is
05:46 too so we're gonna end up with one 1 ,
05:50 2 decimal places and put it up there where it's
05:53 supposed to go . Okay , whispered all the wrong
05:56 part . So the answer is 79 1 . How
06:02 did you go with that ? Good . All right
06:04 . Hopefully you're really , really confident with these and
06:07 any questions comments , put them down and we'll see
06:10 you next time . Bye .
