00:06 | ? Okay , this is the first video we're going | |
00:08 | to be having a look at trigonometry in a series | |
00:10 | of making right now . Um and so first off | |
00:14 | , we're gonna have a bit of a look at | |
00:15 | some different terms that we're gonna be using when we | |
00:17 | look at trigonometry . So , first off , what | |
00:19 | is trigonometry ? Trigonometry is essentially where were quite literally | |
00:24 | means the measurement of triangles . Okay , so basically | |
00:28 | for right angle triangles , that's ones that have this | |
00:30 | little 90 degree uh algorithm . You can use this | |
00:35 | trigger dormitory to work out . So if you have | |
00:39 | an angle here , you could work out some unknown | |
00:41 | side . Like so you can use unless you can | |
00:43 | use side leads to work out unknown angles . Okay | |
00:45 | . Because it has these fairly uh handy little ratios | |
00:49 | that we're gonna be having a look at . Okay | |
00:51 | , so just pretty much that's what you need to | |
00:53 | realize for them . We're gonna be using angles in | |
00:56 | this writing or trying to work outside links and silence | |
00:58 | to work at angles . As long as you have | |
01:01 | two of them , you can work out everything else | |
01:03 | . Okay , so first off , really handy what | |
01:06 | we can do is we put some labels on them | |
01:08 | because every particular uh , side here has a name | |
01:13 | . So first off , it depends on the angle | |
01:16 | that were either trying to work out or the angle | |
01:18 | that we have , but the angle that we're are | |
01:20 | the working out of the angle we have , we | |
01:22 | call theater . Okay , I'm gonna market here , | |
01:24 | but I could just as easily market here , it | |
01:26 | would just changes sides uh , what they were in | |
01:30 | relation here . So , first off , the longest | |
01:33 | side here , you may remember this of Pythagoras , | |
01:36 | is there we call the high what news ? Okay | |
01:43 | . Or for sure , we're gonna , it's gonna | |
01:45 | often referred to as h okay , now , if | |
01:49 | you want to have a look from this angle directly | |
01:53 | across this side , over here , to the opposite | |

02:08 | opposite . Okay , You can probably guess . So | |
02:12 | we often call this , oh , and we have | |
02:16 | this other one here , which is adjacent to theater | |
02:19 | here . Okay . We call this the adjacent Jason | |
02:26 | . We don't call it Jason , we call it | |
02:28 | the adjacent . All right , so there we go | |

02:35 | to symbolize that . Okay , so the high pot | |
02:38 | news always along the side , the opposite , opposite | |

02:45 | there . Okay . Often I find it easier to | |
02:47 | put the opposite one in first . So there's a | |
02:49 | couple of really , really , uh , there's three | |
02:52 | true economic ratios they're called that we're actually gonna be | |
02:55 | using that . We can work out unknown sides , | |
02:58 | unknown angles and these are as followers . Okay . | |
03:02 | So I'll move this just like this and we'll write | |
03:04 | this down the ones that you see . I'm going | |
03:06 | to put up a calculator . Okay . You're depending | |
03:09 | on which calculator you have . Uh , first off | |
03:12 | , if you're using the one on the computer , | |
03:13 | you might see that I have it on scientific here | |
03:16 | under view . Okay . But you might also have | |
03:20 | one that actually is an actual calculated calculator . And | |
03:23 | they often see they have these buttons tan cause and | |
03:26 | sign . See those ones . These are the ones | |
03:29 | we're going to be using a lot sign cause and | |
03:32 | Tan . And these basically are the three different trigger | |
03:36 | atomic ratios . Okay , so the first one , | |
03:41 | the side of the angle . Okay , The first | |
03:43 | one is called the sign ratio . And that's what | |
03:46 | we're dealing with . The opposite . Okay . And | |
03:49 | the high pot news . Ok , so essentially it's | |
03:52 | looking at a ratio . That's where the opposite here | |
03:55 | and the high pot news . If we end up | |
03:58 | , it's a ratio . So it ends up with | |
04:00 | opposite overhype . What do you use ? Okay , | |
04:05 | we also have one which I put back up because | |
04:07 | that was a sign . We have the one here | |
04:09 | which is called the co sign . But often we | |
04:10 | just call it cause for short , the co sign | |
04:14 | is looking at the relationship between uh the adjacent and | |
04:22 | the high point news . It's not the opposite the | |
04:25 | high point news . Now we're looking at the adjacent | |
04:27 | and the high point news . So this is that | |
04:30 | ratio where it is the adjacent and the high pot | |
04:34 | news . These are a couple of rules we're gonna | |
04:35 | be using to . They've got their pads . Remember | |
04:38 | the other one we do . I put it up | |
04:40 | here . This calculator again , as we have this | |
04:42 | one down here called Tad . And it's hand of | |
04:45 | the tangent . Yeah . Is the relationship between the | |
04:50 | opposite and the adjacent . Okay . The ratio between | |
04:53 | these two the opposite the A choices . And you | |
04:58 | might have seen in the past if I write these | |
05:01 | letters out , okay . In that particular order , | |
05:04 | okay . We would end up with sign opposite of | |
05:07 | what news because because I hired cars . I spelled | |
05:15 | that incorrectly . I'll get rid of that . I | |
05:17 | apologize . Ah . Mhm . Oh , hi . | |

05:29 | This is not the way I think about necessarily all | |
05:31 | the time . So , And then we end up | |
05:33 | with tad equals opposite over adjacent . And look , | |
05:37 | some teachers are gonna probably have said to you in | |
05:38 | the past and some people are gonna go , yeah | |
05:40 | , we remember this because this word Sakar Tower , | |
05:43 | I don't never , I could never remember it like | |
05:46 | this . I'll be honest about some people remember this | |
05:48 | particular rules here because I remember this particular thing here | |
05:51 | . We're gonna be using these rules in a second | |
05:53 | . Okay , So this soccer toe , I think | |

07:37 | where is the opposite ? Well , first off , | |
07:39 | that's the high Point news which is a long one | |
07:41 | here . Okay , that's this long one here . | |
07:43 | The high point news . The opposite is we can | |
07:46 | imagine looking to the opposite side . So this is | |
07:48 | the opposite but the adjacent is the one running next | |
07:51 | to them . Okay , So first off really , | |
07:56 | really important that you can go through and label these | |
07:59 | . Okay , the next thing you want to be | |
08:01 | able to do is you want to be able to | |
08:02 | remember these particular rules because we are going to use | |
08:05 | the you can label them , then you can remember | |
08:08 | these rules . And what was that particular thing again | |
08:10 | , if you remember it was sub old Hags . | |
