00:02	What we're gonna be having a look at this video
00:04	is how to mentally add numbers together . Okay .
00:06	There's a larger numbers now . So we've been looking
00:10	at these in previous videos . We're looking at how
00:12	to do these using complementary numbers and a special way
00:15	of adding . So use these little techniques , if
00:17	you can remember how to do them , but now
00:19	try to apply them These three numbers . You got
00:22	five seconds . So how did you go with Oregon
00:26	? That's five seconds . Did you get 2308 if
00:30	you did . Congratulations . Really good . Really happy
00:33	with you . Uh , if not , we're going
00:35	to have a look at how you might add these
00:37	together and this does take a little bit of practice
00:39	. Maybe five seconds is a little bit ambitious .
00:41	Maybe we're looking at seven seconds here . Okay ,
00:44	so with this , I'm gonna show you how a
00:47	little trick for adding these together . Now , last
00:49	video , we were having a look at these .
00:51	We were looking this idea of complementary numbers . Okay
00:54	, these are numbers that add up 10-1 , annoyed
00:57	two and eight . Three and seven . Four and
01:01	65 and five . And we're gonna be looking for
01:04	these once again to try and add our numbers together
01:07	a lot easier . But we're also going to be
01:08	once again adding from left to right . Okay .
01:12	So if you haven't seen those previous videos , have
01:15	a look . If you'd probably be able to catch
01:17	it up though , I must say . So we're
01:19	gonna start out with some easy examples . What about
01:21	we go 487 Plus 539 I want to recommend here
01:27	is pause them and and first off , we'll show
01:29	you how to do it . But for later ,
01:30	once pause them and give it a go . Doing
01:32	yourself . So what we were doing with these Is
01:34	we're adding it left , right and going as follows
01:37	, 400 900 980 1010 . 1017 . 1026 .
01:48	Okay , so we're adding it in this direction and
01:51	we're not saying plus this plus this plus this .
01:54	We're just going 400 900 , 980 , So we're
02:02	adding that in this direction . Okay , you see
02:04	that this will get bigger and bigger and some of
02:07	these numbers ? Yeah , you might be able to
02:08	look at and go , hey , I could add
02:09	this particular set of numbers together quicker this way and
02:13	that's really good . But we're gonna try and get
02:15	in the habit of doing these for bigger strings and
02:17	numbers also . Okay , So with these later ,
02:20	once pause them , give them ago . So what
02:22	about we have 795 And we're going to add 313
02:28	to this . So again look for complementary numbers .
02:31	We have These two are complementary . They make 1000
02:35	and then these two complementary they make 100 . So
02:37	1100 1105 . 1190 . Okay . You see how
02:46	these complementary numbers together ? So you can just straight
02:48	away block them together . With 1000 1001 100 105

02:59	that ? Good . Maybe you were going 700 .

03:06	for these complementary numbers . Okay . What about we

03:19	at 1st . Maybe 500 , 900 , And I
03:26	reckon this is actually a lot more accurate way of
03:29	doing because you're not trying to carry numbers backwards ,
03:32	then you're actually you would be thinking that , but
03:34	I think it's a lot more accurate method . Okay
03:39	. Given I'll probably get one wrong now and then
03:40	all the people say you got this one wrong ?
03:42	Okay . All right . Um what about we do
03:46	this 1 ? 380 7 88 . Okay . What
03:56	about we add these together now ? Okay . So
03:58	there is some complimentary numbers . We got 1,000 1900
04:02	and then we've got 1910 . 2076 . 2084 .
04:11	Okay . How did you go with that ? Yeah
04:14	. You're getting it that fast . I hope so
04:17	. Okay , let's let's go a couple more and
04:20	then we're gonna get back to that original example .
04:21	Okay ? So and I reckon you probably go that
04:24	really fast . Okay . So 390 for 173 .
04:31	How did you go with this and pause it ?
04:33	Give it a go . All right . So we
04:36	have 304 105 105 190 . 660 . And this
04:41	whole lot here is a big complimentary number . Okay
04:44	. All right . Up to 10 to 660 plus
04:46	stand here is 670 . Okay . I'm all very
04:50	good . Yeah . Okay . What about What about
04:55	a big string of digits now let's let's do let's
04:58	do four of the 612 . 73 . 7 38
05:05	and 4 50 for now . I did also get
05:08	these numbers of a random number generator . So I
05:10	wasn't actually choosing , I thought I don't want to
05:13	choose numbers that are too easy or too hard or
05:15	deliberately subconsciously choose whatever . So we'll see how we
05:19	go with this . Just what I tell you that
05:20	. So we have 1000 1700 , 2500 , 2510
05:33	. Okay . 2517 , 2573 . Okay . How
05:46	did you go with that ? Good . How did
05:47	I go with that ? I'm not sure . Okay
05:49	. Hopefully I got a good answer with that .
