00:0-1 Good day . Welcome to Technet channel . What we're
00:02 going to be having a look at in this video
00:03 is a little trick to getting rates and unit rates
00:06 right all the time . Okay . Just something I've
00:09 noticed when I have my students doing these and just
00:11 a little trick , I can tell them in order
00:13 to get this correct all the time . So first
00:17 off what a unit rates , unit rates are ,
00:18 where you're giving something like uh you would be ,
00:22 I had a question say like you had something which
00:23 was $20 for uh five liters . And what we
00:29 wanted to know is we wanted to know what the
00:31 dollars per liter was . Okay . What each leader
00:35 cost in dollars . So how do you go about
00:37 working this out ? Well , it's really simple .
00:39 You just follow the formula . You've been given the
00:43 formula , you've said one of the dollars per liter
00:45 that is we do it in this order . Number
00:48 of dollars per per amounts always means divide . So
00:52 the number of dollars divided by the number of leaders
00:55 . So how many dollars we got ? We have
00:58 $20 Per always means divide and the number of leaders
01:03 is five L . So We can easily work out
01:06 our answer what's 20 divided by five , What's for
01:10 ? So our price is $4 leader and that's how
01:14 you work at unit pricing . There are a couple
01:16 of tricks to these and I'll show you these as
01:18 we go along . But you just follow the formula
01:21 you've been given . Okay you do it in that
01:23 order and you can't go wrong . So what about
01:26 another one of these ? I'll just give you a
01:27 nice easy you want to start off with say we
01:29 had Suddenly which costs $35 . It it was There
01:36 were three kg of it . And what I wanted
01:40 to know . Okay so that was $35 for three
01:42 kg . And I wanted to know that price particular
01:49 . I got $2 per kilo . So how would
01:51 I work this out ? Hey you yell out ,
01:54 just do it that order . You know the number
01:55 of dollars divided by the number of killers say the
01:58 number of dollars is $35 per means divide always means
02:04 divide . The number of kilos is three . So
02:06 35 divided by three . The answer is 11 .
02:12 Okay 11 threes are 33 and there's two left over
02:15 . So we're gonna say 11 and 2/3 of a
02:20 kilogram . Okay now I'm going to get into some
02:23 harder ones of these . Okay so just some variations
02:26 anyway . They're not harder because you just follow that
02:28 formula right ? So they're not harder at all .
02:30 Just gonna remember follow the formula . So just some
02:33 variations of these . So another example that might be
02:35 where you were you were told , okay , you
02:38 bought eight rolls for what ? Say $3.60 and you
02:48 were asked what is the price that dollars per roll
02:53 ? Okay . So how would you work this out
02:55 there straightaway ? The dollars , they're not sitting over
02:58 there . It's not a handy little thing where everything
03:00 this lines up straight away , you have to actually
03:02 find which one surprised that the price is this over
03:04 here ? $3.60 . So how many dollars ? $3.60
03:08 . Hey , that's the only variant hospital matt per
03:10 , what's permian per always means divide the number of
03:13 roles is eight . Okay . So what's $3.60 divided
03:17 by eight . And the answer to that is this
03:21 is 45 cents per roll . Okay , this is
03:29 $30.45 per roll . Nice and easy . Okay .
03:32 One last variation of these is occasionally you'll be asked
03:35 something like this when you're doing these in maths or
03:38 or doing these , say in reality and trying to
03:40 work them out . So say you were given something
03:43 like you had something that cost $2 For 400 bill
03:52 . Okay . And I want to know what the
03:53 price was the dollars per liter . Now what you're
03:56 going to notice is this first off the dollars ,
03:59 the dollars of the dollars of the dollars and per
04:01 means divide . So that's no problem . But here
04:03 we got mills and here we have leaders . So
04:06 what we have to do here to find the price
04:07 world leader is we have to change this . Mills
04:10 is 400 mils into something in liters . So there's
04:14 1000 mills in the leader . Okay , so if
04:17 I divide by 405,000 , I divide 405,000 , I
04:20 say , okay , we're going to get that .
04:22 There's 0.4 liters . This is the same . You
04:26 know , they're just unit conversion . So now we
04:29 just chuck things in . The formula dollars is $2
04:32 Per . Always means divide . The number of leaders
04:36 is 0.4 leaders . So Two divided by 0.4 or
04:42 $2 divided by R . cents . You might think
04:44 of something like this is too divided by .4 .
04:47 Okay , There's five lots of it . This is
04:49 $5 . Her leader . Okay . That's all we
04:53 got in this video . Hopefully that helped you out
04:55 and help you find that nice and easy . We'll
04:57 see you next time . Bye .
