00:0-1 Good day , Welcome to Tech Math channel . What
00:01 we're going to be having a look at this video
00:02 is a nice , easy trick for converting between kilograms
00:05 and pounds of two units of measurements . Okay ,
00:08 so let's just launch into this and if you like
00:11 this video , please remember like button and subscribe .
00:13 So I guess the first bit of information we need
00:16 when we're doing this is well , we're converting between
00:20 kilograms and pounds . How many pounds are there ?
00:22 In a kilogram ? And to be exact , ah
00:24 , well , but not too exact yet . In
00:26 one kg there is about £2.2 and we want to
00:31 be a bit more exact , we'd say to about
00:33 £2.2046 . Okay . Um , so we're going to
00:37 see straight away is we're gonna be using this idea
00:39 that there's £2.2 in the kilograms . So our answers
00:43 are going to have a degree of error in them
00:45 . So how do we go about converting between kilograms
00:48 and pounds ? Well , we're going to literally get
00:50 the number of kilograms , and we're going to multiply
00:52 by the number two points . And I'm gonna show
00:54 you how to do this really quickly in your head
00:57 , how to multiply by the number 2.2 to get
00:59 your answer . It's okay . Let's just start with
01:02 an example and see how fast you can do this
01:04 particular one , knowing just the information that you know
01:08 right now to say we had a nice easy 1
01:11 35 kg . What is this in pails ? Okay
01:20 , so time's up . Did you get the answer
01:22 of £77 if you did ? Hey , congratulations .
01:26 If you didn't , I'm gonna show you how I
01:28 go about doing this . And there's a couple of
01:29 steps . The very first thing we do is to
01:33 our 35 kg . Here we are , going to
01:35 multiply a number by two . We're gonna double it
01:38 . So 35 times two we get the answer of
01:41 70 . That's the first thing we do , and
01:44 that's taking care of this two part . Here ,
01:46 we're gonna be trying to work out this little 10%
01:49 party , this remaining partners , 10% of what we've
01:52 got now so far . How do we do that
01:54 ? Well , we're just going to divide our answer
01:56 by 10 . So that's the answer , divided by
01:59 10 . Okay , we're gonna add that to it
02:02 . So what's the answer here ? Divided by 10
02:04 ? What the answer is 70 divided by 10 is
02:06 seven . I'm gonna add that to 70 plus seven
02:10 . This is £77 . Pretty simple . Right ?
02:14 What do you think of that particular trick ? I'm
02:16 going to go through a few more particular questions here
02:20 . So what about you go through and give them
02:22 a fly as you go . You're just going to
02:23 be doubling your answer , working at that 10% and
02:26 then adding that on . So let's give that a
02:28 go . Okay . What about you give this one
02:30 to go ? Uh seven kg . How many pounds
02:34 is that ? All right . You should be already
02:37 working this out . Okay ? So what's the first
02:40 thing you're gonna do here is you're going to double
02:42 your answer here , sir ? Seven times too easy
02:44 . Is 14 . The next thing you do is
02:47 you're gonna work at 10% of your answer here .
02:49 So divide by 10 . What's 14 divided by 10
02:52 ? Well , it's 1.4 we're gonna add that to
02:56 this and then we're gonna have our answer . So
02:58 1.4 plus four date , our answer is £15.4 .
03:04 Okay , so £15.4 as you go with that ,
03:09 let's go through another one . Okay , one kg
03:12 is £2.2 where much is 16 kg . So ,
03:17 let's see what that is . See if you can
03:19 work it out . All right , so double your
03:22 answer here , I'll double 16 . Double 16 is
03:25 32 . 32 . We're gonna work at 10 percentages
03:28 . So 32 divided by 10 is 3.2 and we're
03:32 just going to add our answer to this . So
03:34 are 3.2 plus 32 . Here's our answer . £35.2
03:43 . Okay , now , what we're gonna have a
03:44 look at is converting back from pounds to kilograms .
03:47 So there's £2.2 in a kilogram . So what we're
03:50 gonna be doing to go from pounds two kg is
03:52 we are going to divide by 2.2 . Now look
03:55 , do this mentally , I'm going to do this
03:57 in a couple of steps . The very very first
03:59 thing I do is I am going to instead of
04:03 multiplying by two . What you did before I am
04:05 going to divide by two . So we get 2.2
04:08 divided by two . We're left with this answer of
04:11 1.1 . Now , I don't really want to deal
04:13 with 1.1 . I'd much rather deal with a number
04:15 11 . So to do this , I'm just going
04:18 to chuck a step in between . So usually what
04:20 I could do is I can just directly divide by
04:22 1.1 , but I would rather divide by 11 .
04:25 So I do sort of an extra step in young
04:27 and divide by two . Multiply my answer by 10
04:31 and then divide by 11 . And you're gonna see
04:34 this is not as our complex as it might seem
04:36 . Okay , so let's have a bit of a
04:39 go at this . Let's change £33 into kilograms .
04:44 So £33 . So the first thing I do is
04:47 we can divide by two . So , what's 33
04:50 divided by two ? 33 divided by two is 16.5
04:55 . Okay , 16.5 , multiplied by 10 . We've
04:58 got 100 and 65 . Okay , And now it
05:01 is going to divide by 11 . So 165 divided
05:04 by 11 . Well , you might look at this
05:07 and go , okay , 11 goes into 16 ,
05:08 1 time , it's gonna leave a five there and
05:11 11 goes into 55 5 times . Okay , There
05:16 is a shortcut for doing that . I'm not going
05:17 to get right into that right now . So ,
05:20 what we have is £33 and this is equal to
05:23 15 kg . All right , let's go through one
05:26 more of these . Okay , so let's do £18
05:30 and see what that is in kilograms . Okay ,
05:32 so 18 divided by two is nine times 10 is
05:36 90 so it's 90 divided by 11 or 90 divided
05:40 by 11 years ago . Okay , well , 11
05:42 goes into 98 times and there's two left over .
05:45 So it's going to be around about 0.1 point two
05:50 . That's our answer . Okay , pretty simple .
05:52 Right . And this is going to be in kilograms
05:55 . So look , that's a fairly , fairly close
05:58 approximation of how are how many kilograms are in £18
06:01 . So look , so what do you think of
06:03 that trick ? Let us know in the comments below
06:05 . Once again , big shout out to my patrons
06:08 . Yes , yes . There is a video on
06:10 the way that I said I was going to produce
06:12 . Just got caught up with our technical issues .
06:15 And as always , thank you for watching . Please
