01:25	and west is Kentucky . And finally bordering west Virginia
01:30	to the north and west is the state of Ohio

01:43	the main nickname of west Virginia so we can learn
01:47	even more about this awesome state . The main nickname
01:51	of west Virginia is the mountain state , yep .
01:55	The mountain state . Why do you think West Virginia
01:59	is called the Mountain state ? The yeah west Virginia
02:05	is called the mountain state because of all the mountains
02:09	that are in the state . There are multiple mountain
02:11	ranges that are in the state of West Virginia .
02:14	All of them are a part of a huge mountain
02:17	range called the Appalachian Mountains . You might remember that
02:21	West Virginia is in a region called Appalachian region because
02:25	the Appalachian mountains run right through it . Some of
02:32	the peaks are as high as 4000 ft above sea
02:36	level . That is really , really high , isn't
02:39	it ? There are six national parks in West Virginia
02:42	, allowing people to enjoy the beautiful mountains and protecting
02:46	the incredible wildlife that live in them in the mountains
02:50	. People enjoy going hiking , fishing , rafting and
02:54	more . So West Virginia is the mountain state because
02:59	of all the mountains in the ST simple enough ,
03:02	now , we're going to look at the flag of
03:05	West Virginia to see what else we are going to
03:07	discover about the mountain state . Tada here is the
03:13	flag of the state of West Virginia . The flag
03:16	of West Virginia is a white flag with a blue
03:18	border . In the middle of the flag is the
03:21	state coat of arms , which shows two men a
03:24	minor and also a former . These two men represent
03:28	two major industries in west Virginia . Coal mining is
03:33	one of the biggest industries in the state , which
03:36	is why the minor is on the coat of arms
03:39	. A farmer is on the coat of arms because
03:41	raising livestock is one of the biggest industries as well
03:46	, Hint between the two men is a boulder with
03:48	the date June 20 1863 . Why do you think
03:54	that date is on the border ? Yes , June
04:02	20 1863 . Was the date West Virginia became an

04:12	place on the map of West Virginia . Right here
04:16	, towards the southwest corner of the state is the
04:18	city of Charleston . Charleston is the capital and largest
04:23	city in west Virginia . Okay , here is our

04:33	Virginia ? That's an interesting question . What is the

04:42	West Virginia is the northern cardinal . That's right .
04:46	The northern cardinal cardinals are famous for their bright red
04:51	colors , which makes them easy to spot . They
04:54	are also easy to hear . They have a very
04:57	loud call . It's a good thing . They are
05:00	loud . This can warn other cardinals that they are
05:02	. There Cardinals are very territorial birds . They are
05:07	willing to fight to protect their land . The cardinal
