00:0-1 my parents . It's an assembly from the learn and
00:01 play Montessori team . Today . I'm gonna show you
00:04 how to make some really easy counting cards that you
00:08 can use to help your Children practically understand numbers .
00:13 They'll understand the number of formation as well as 1-1
00:16 correspondence as they can use items to count out the
00:20 numbers . What's more you can even use these counting
00:23 cards to help your Children with addition and subtraction .
00:27 So grab your materials and let's go . It's a
00:31 great are counting cards , we're gonna use some colored
00:34 a four card . We're going to fold it in
00:37 half and then we'll cut along the middle and this
00:41 is going to create two equal sized cards that we
00:44 can use for our number cards . And I've chosen
00:47 an assortment of colors just to make it a little
00:49 bit more fun . Now on my first piece of
00:53 card , I'm going to write the number one .
00:56 I wrote it in a pencil and then I traced
00:59 over it with a pen so that it was more
01:00 visible . However if you'd like to print off some
01:04 numbers you can do that and simply cut them out
01:07 and then stick them onto the card . I then
01:10 also drew one circle to correspond with the number one
01:14 and this is going to be the space that your
01:15 child can put items inside . I then continued on
01:19 to the numbers 23456789 and 10 . I only did
01:29 up to 10 this time . However you can take
01:32 your number cards beyond 10 . You could go up
01:34 to 20 and then of course your child can count
01:37 items out and don't forget you'll need the right amount
01:41 of circles for each card to correspond with the number
01:44 . Now counting cards are done , you may wish
01:47 to laminate them if you want and then you can
01:49 do extra activities such as asking your child to trace
01:53 the number with a pen . Then you can rub
01:55 it off and use it again and again . You
01:58 could also stick stickers along the number and then peel
02:01 the stickers off . But of course you'll have to
02:03 laminate it first . Now let me give an example
02:07 of how we can use these counting cards to count
02:10 with our Children and help them with their 1-1 correspondence
02:13 . I chose some delicious cereals . Help me count
02:16 out my numbers . However your child may use some
02:19 other small item that they like . However cereal is
02:22 always a good choice because it also serves as a
02:25 delicious snap as we count . You may place the
02:28 number one in front of your child and ask them
02:31 to put one piece of cereal onto the card and
02:35 of course they'll try to put it into the circle
02:37 . They can then understand that that is one .
02:41 And to reinforce this , you may then ask them
02:44 to trace the number one with their finger . Now
02:47 I'm a child may choose to eat their one snack
02:50 and move on to the next number . Or they
02:52 could simply put the piece of cereal back into the
02:54 ball . Now we can want to number two .
02:57 Can your child count out two pieces of cereal ,
03:00 put them into the circle . I wonder if they
03:03 can eat too as well And don't forget use their
03:07 finger to trace the number two , reinforcing the word
03:11 so that they can understand the word , the image
03:13 as well as the amount . And of course you
03:17 can work all the way up to number 10 and
03:19 this may take a while . Your child will meticulously
03:22 count out 10 pieces of cereal and again will trace
03:26 the number 10 with their fingers . If your child
03:29 is already confident that they're counting , understand amounts and
03:34 knows exactly what the numbers look like can trace them
03:37 and possibly even right , then you may decide to
03:40 move on to some simple addition and subtraction . You
03:44 can simply use some of your number cards and cut
03:46 out a small plus sign , a minus sign and
03:51 an equal sign . And then you can use these
03:53 to create sons . And it's great because you can
03:57 help your child to count out the pieces of cereal
04:00 to make sure that the sun is correct . I
04:04 hope you enjoy finding out how to make your own
04:06 number cards and I'm sure the activities that you'll come
04:09 up with at home to use these to enforce numbers
04:12 will be endless . I hope your child enjoys learning
04:15 . None of us . Bye . Mm .
