Grade 4 Math Sample Question 14

Travis is covering a floor using tiles. Each tile has an area of 1 sq. foot.
How many tiles will he need to cover a rectangular floor that is 20 feet
long and 30 feet wide?

A) 60 tiles

B) 600 tiles (Correct Answer)

C) 50 tiles

D) 100 tiles

Explanation:
To find the area of the floor, the length of the floor would be multiplied by its width.
The area of the floor, therefore, is 600 square feet. (20 x 30 = 600) Since each tile
measures 1 square foot, Travis would need 600 tiles to cover the floor.
