Bruce Wellman: Got Data? Now What?

School planning is effective when the school builds a culture of inquiry into understanding how student growth is strengthened and supported. This session is for school teams need effective conversation protocols for problem-solving and decision making so that all students learn. It’s a formative approach to student achievement data.

This session will offer useful tools and strategies for school teams to gather, interpret, and use school both qualitative and quantitative data. The primary material for this session fee is the book Got Data? Now What? Creating and Leading Cultures of Inquiry by Laura Lipton and Bruce Wellman, given to you as part of your registration. Participants will explore this resource, including structuring group work and strategies and tools for collecting different kinds of data. The session will address how to confront obstacles and turn struggling committees into powerful learning communities.

This one-day session is aimed at principals and school planning teams. It aims to improve planning, monitoring, and outcomes at the school level. Please note that this date was set one day before SAGE (Special Area Groups for Educators) in order to accommodate rural and northern school teams who may already coming to the city for the coordinated conferences.
