00:06 It's finally here . Okay . The turtle video ,
00:09 The turtle video , we are going to learn about
00:12 turtles . Uh , first we want to hear from
00:15 some of you , 10 year old Janna from London
00:18 had a joke for us and said , why can't
00:20 the bicycle stand ? It was too tired . That's
00:24 good . That's a good job . Good joke .
00:27 We also heard from 10 year old Abbey from texas
00:31 who learned about owls with us and said my favorite
00:34 owl fact was their amazing camouflage . That's true .
00:37 Their camouflage skills are pretty incredible . Mm That was
00:43 cool . Watch this entire video to see how you
00:46 can have a chance to be featured as well .
00:51 Well , as we mentioned earlier in this video ,
00:55 we are going to learn about turtles , but before
00:57 we dive into these turtle facts , let's cover the
01:00 basics . I think turtles are cute animals that are
01:06 famous for their protective hard shells and they're slow movements
01:10 . Uh , hey , do you already know what
01:14 type of animal a turtle is ? What type of
01:17 animal is a turtle ? Uh huh . Turtles are
01:23 a type of animal called reptiles . Turtles are reptiles
01:28 , wow . So what does that mean ? While
01:33 here are a couple of things about reptiles , they
01:37 breathe air . They are cold blooded and they are
01:40 vertebrates meaning they have a backbone , breathing air is
01:47 easy to understand . Right , can you take a
01:50 breath right now right now ? Yeah , you breathe
01:55 air to just like turtles and all of the other
01:58 reptiles . Even sea turtles breathe air . That's right
02:04 . So fascinating . This sea turtle is grabbing a
02:07 quick breath of air before going back in the water
02:13 earlier . We also mentioned that turtles and all of
02:16 the other reptiles are cold blooded . What does it
02:20 mean to be cold blooded ? Well being cold blooded
02:26 means turtles don't keep the temperature of their bodies the
02:29 same . Their environment changes the temperature of their bodies
02:34 . Or unlike turtles and other reptiles , we are
02:39 warm blooded . That means our bodies warm themselves and
02:42 keep our temperature about the same all of the time
02:45 . Even when we're out in the cold , if
02:50 you check the temperature of a turtle , it can
02:52 be all over the place depending on where the turtle
02:55 is because a turtle just like all other reptiles is
02:59 cold blooded . We also mentioned that just like other
03:05 reptiles , turtles are vertebrates , they have a backbone
03:09 . Next time you see a turtle smile at the
03:11 turtle and say , Hey , I know you you
03:15 are refer to break . You have a backbone ,
03:18 which is cool . Okay , Alright . Turtle ,
03:20 can you , can you hear me ? Turtle ?
03:22 Turtle ? If you would like to learn more about
03:27 reptiles , we have a full video on it .
03:29 You can check it out after this video . All
03:35 right . Time for more turtle facts . We want
03:38 to be experts on turtles . Turtle masters , let's
03:43 talk about this . What do turtles eat ? Huh
03:46 ? That's a good question . What ? Well ,
03:51 that depends on the type of turtle and what kind
03:54 of food is around it . Turtles spend their day
03:57 looking for food . They can eat things like insects
04:03 . Fish , worms are different kinds of plants because
04:06 they eat both meat and plants . Turtles are omnivores
04:12 . Can you say omnivores ? Uh , turtles are
04:16 omnivores . That means they eat both plants and meat
04:23 . It's interesting their eating habits can actually change as
04:26 they get older , too . Okay , when turtles
04:29 are young to eat more meat and older turtles tend
04:33 to eat more plants . Now , that's not always
04:36 the case , younger turtles can eat plants to an
04:39 older turtles can eat meat , but their diet changes
04:43 as they get older . Oh , lupus . Here's
04:48 a picture of a turtle with a buddy . Well
04:51 , at least you would think these turtles are friends
04:54 that their buddies . Well , guess what they really
04:56 are . They're really not friends . Okay , get
05:02 ready for a sad fact . Turtles don't usually interact
05:08 with each other . They're not very social animals and
05:11 they don't interact with other turtles . If they're in
05:14 a group , they don't even acknowledge one another ,
05:17 they're just doing their thing in this picture there ,
05:20 eating together . They're enjoying a meal and it would
05:23 be like , cool if they were turtle friends if
05:25 they were friends . But turtles don't become friends with
05:28 other turtles . Turtles don't have turtle friends , they
05:31 just do their own thing . But the good news
05:37 is the turtle can be friends with you . Some
05:39 people have turtles as pets . Do you know anyone
05:43 with a pet turtle ? Okay . All right .
05:49 We are ready for our next turtle fact . Did
05:52 you know turtles love the water and spend most of
05:56 their time ? They're all okay . This is actually
06:01 the major difference between turtles and tortoises . Turtles spend
06:05 most of their time in the water , and tortoises
06:09 spend most of their time on land . Now sometimes
06:11 people get these animals confused because they look very similar
06:15 and they're from the same family , but they are
06:17 different because of where they spend most of their time
06:20 . Turtles spend most of their time in the water
06:22 , tortoises spend most of their time on land .
06:27 Look at this amazing sea turtle . All turtles spend
06:32 most of their time in the water , but none
06:34 as much as sea turtles . Sea turtles are all
06:38 about the water . But you know , even sea
06:41 turtles spend a little bit of time on land .
06:43 In fact , female sea turtles lay eggs on the
06:46 shore and the baby sea turtles make their way to
06:50 the water once they hatch , it's interesting . Baby
06:56 turtles are called hatchlings . That's right . Hatchlings ,
07:01 that's such a cute name and they look so cute
07:04 . Hatchlings are so adorable , but notice , you
07:07 know , their mother is not helping them . That's
07:09 because turtles remember are not social animals . Okay ,
07:13 they don't really interact with one another that much .
07:16 And so they're kind of left on their own .
07:19 That may be why turtles don't celebrate Mother's Day .
07:23 Their Mother's Day card would just say dear mother ,
07:28 I hatched and did everything on my own love baby
07:33 turtle . Of course no turtle video would be complete
07:37 without sharing more about that famous shell . The outer
07:41 part of the shells made of something called keratin .
07:43 The same thing . Your fingernails are made of ,
07:46 your fingernails are made of the same thing as turtle
07:49 shells . And as you can see the shell is
07:54 great for protection . Turtles can hide their heads and
07:58 their feet in their shells , but not every turtle
08:02 can hide in its shell . For example , sea
08:08 turtles can't hide in their shells , but we shouldn't
08:11 feel bad for them . Look at where they live
08:13 , wow , Absolutely beautiful . Hey , what was
08:19 your favorite turtle fact ? Let us know in the
08:21 comments section below . We would love to hear from
08:23 you . Look at this hatchling , looking at the
08:26 water so incredible . These are amazing reptiles , aren't
08:29 they ? And we hope you had a great time
08:32 learning about them with . Okay , do you remember
08:40 the kids comments that were at the beginning of this
08:42 video ? Just by commenting , you can have a
08:46 chance to be in one of our videos too .
08:49 Just include with your comment , your name , age
08:53 and where you're from for a chance to be featured

09:02 are from along with your common we hope you have
09:06 as much fun writing them as we do reading them
09:12 . This is the end , but don't cry .
09:14 You know , there's a circle in the middle of
09:16 screen that's popping up . You can click that to
09:18 subscribe if you haven't already . And there are two
09:21 special videos that you can check out . You can
09:24 just go straight to those or , you know ,
09:26 do whatever you want , you know , an internet
09:28 land , but why not learn more ? We have
09:30 so many more videos . All right . So we
09:33 hope to see you there . Okay .
