00:15 here . It is . What is this painting called
00:20 ? Uh huh . The Mona lisa . This video
00:23 is all about the mona lisa . Yeah . Yeah
00:28 . The Mona lisa is a painting from the renaissance
00:31 period in Italy the renaissance period was an amazing time
00:36 for the arts , science and culture in europe .
00:40 Yeah , it was painted by someone you may have
00:43 heard of . His name was Leonardo da Vinci .
00:46 Here is a portrait that Leonardo da Vinci made of
00:50 himself . Leonardo da Vinci was an incredible inventor ,
00:58 scientist and artist . He kind of did it all
01:01 . He was like the renaissance champion . Hey look
01:07 at this . Here is a statue of Leonardo da
01:10 Vinci . He painted the Mona Lisa sometime in the
01:14 early 1500 so that was a long time ago .
01:19 Yeah . Mhm . All right . So this guy
01:23 Leonardo da Vinci painted this amazing work of art ,
01:26 the Mona lisa and it happened during a special time
01:29 known as the renaissance . Now you may have guessed
01:36 this , but the mona lisa is a portrait of
01:38 a real person . Her name was Liza del Gioconda
01:42 . Her husband commissioned the painting Leonardo da Vinci never
01:46 got paid for the mona lisa and didn't finish the
01:49 painting until years later when he was living in France
01:54 . It has remained in France since then and today
01:58 is owned by the country of France . So the
02:01 mona lisa will never be sold and remains one of
02:05 the greatest art treasures in the world . Ready for
02:12 some wonderful news . You can go see the mona
02:16 lisa . That's right . It is kept in a
02:18 museum called la lucha . Can you say that ?
02:21 It's french . It's a little tricky la lucha .
02:24 It now has its own room and they make sure
02:27 it stays safe . You see something happened to the
02:33 mona lisa back in 1911 , that was over 100
02:37 years ago . Someone who worked at the museum at
02:41 lula stole the mona lisa start . He took the
02:45 mona lisa hidden in his coat and left . People
02:52 were outraged . Here is a picture of what the
02:55 wall looked like without the mona lisa . The wall
02:58 is so sad with that gap . Oh my goodness
03:04 , thankfully the thief was caught and after two years
03:07 of being missing , the mona lisa was back at
03:10 Lalova . Everyone was so excited that the mona lisa
03:14 was back and that made the mona lisa even more
03:17 famous . There is so much about this painting to
03:23 love . One thing that people often notice about the
03:26 mona lisa is that smile of hers . She looks
03:29 happy . It's just a shame that Liza Delgado condo
03:34 never saw what the painting finally looked like . She
03:37 probably would have liked it . We want to share
03:43 one more fact about Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece . Did
03:47 you know the mona lisa was painted on a wooden
03:51 panel ? That's right . A wooden panel . That
03:54 means the thief was hiding a panel of wood in
03:58 his coat . The mona lisa , probably the most
04:01 famous painting in history was painted on a wooden panel
04:06 . That's pretty cool . That's pretty cool . Look
04:09 at that wooden panel , it's nice , but it
04:12 isn't the mona lisa , let's be honest . Okay
