The gingerbread house looked delicious, but something about it was scary. I had been making gingerbread houses with my mother at Christmas time since I was a little girl, but I had never seen one that was life-sized. Still, I couldn't resist all of those delicious goodies. I pulled a piece of licorice off of the window sill.
"Who's that out there?" a loud voice boomed from inside the house.
"Clara....," I said in a small, scared voice.
"Why are you taking apart my house?" the voice yelled again.
"I thought it was a candy treat. Whenever I make gingerbread houses with my mother, I get to eat them," I replied.
"Well...this house isn't for you to eat. Go away or I'll cut your fingers off!" came the loud voice again.
