There are eight named planets in our solar system. The planets all are positioned at different distances from the sun. The farther a planet is away from the sun the colder the climate. The closer to the sun a planet is the warmer the climate. Mercury is the closest and Neptune is the farthest from the sun. Additionally, the placement of a planet is to the sun also effects the amount of sunlight that planet receives. The closer planets receive more sunlight than those planets father away from the sun.
