2 So, what can we do to help? You might think, “Me, I am just a kid!” However, every small effort counts. Start by keeping your surroundings clean; ensure your lawns and driveways are free of litter. Limit your yard watering to every 3-5 days, and remember to turn off water hoses promptly after use.
3 Consider volunteering on a weekly basis to clean up litter in your town. Create a list of litter hotspots and involve your friends or classmates in the cleanup efforts. By reducing litter, we can minimize the risk of trash polluting our waterways.
4 Avoid using plastic bottles or bags whenever possible. Encourage your parents to use cloth bags for grocery shopping. If you do use plastic, remember to recycle it. Plastic pollution is dangerous to our communities and can have far-reaching consequences.
5 When showering or bathing, be mindful of the time spent. Create a chart and encourage your family to do the same. By conserving water during daily activities, you not only help preserve our precious resources but also save money on monthly water bills.
6 When using the washing machine, avoid overfilling it with water. Opt for smaller loads or wash larger loads only when necessary. Most washing machines are equipped with water level indicators to assist you in using water smartly.
7 Water is definitely one of our greatest natural resources. We need it for survival! However, it is our collective responsibility to ensure its abundance and cleanliness for future generations.
