INCREASING STUDENT CONFIDENCE IN MATH & BEYOND WITH FLIPGRID

Finding meaningful and engaging ways for students to interact with technology to create artifacts of their learning in math isn’t always as easy or intuitive as it is with other content areas. Jennifer and Susan rely on Flipgrid for their students to make their thinking more visible, provide constructive feedback to each other, to gain confidence when asked to explain their math reasoning and sometimes connect with other students far away. Participants will hear first hand accounts of how Susan transformed her math “station rotation” in her 3rd grade classroom using her own students as experts and how Jennifer has “knocked down” classroom walls with her 6th and 7th graders as they now have access to all student responses, not just those of the peers in their section.Participants will actively engage in this session by recording a response in Flipgrid, creating a Flipgrid account, exploring Flipgrid’s Discovery Library and planning their first topic they want their students/staff to respond to, creating confidence and amplifying student voice.
