Designed by expert educators, Reading Buddy makes learning phonics, reading fluency, and reading comprehension skills easy and fun.

The EdTech Awards recognize people for outstanding contributions to transforming education through technology to enrich the lives of learners everywhere. Celebrating its 12th year, the US-based EdTech Awards program is the world’s largest recognition program for education technology, recognizing the biggest names in edtech.

“As events unfold on the world stage that seems to inch ever closer to a precipice unknown, we are reminded that the leaders and innovators of education technology, like Lumos Learning, have always worked on the edge,” said Victor Rivero, who, as Editor-in-Chief of EdTech Digest, oversees the program.

As a finalist, Reading Buddy and the other finalists and winners were narrowed from the larger field and judged based on various criteria, including pedagogical workability, efficacy, results, support, clarity, value, and potential.

“We’re pleased to see Reading Buddy being recognized for helping educators and parents develop successful readers,” said Mukunda Krishnaswamy, CTO, and Founder of Lumos Learning. “And we’re inspired to work even harder to support educators and parents help their students and children improve their oral reading fluency skills by leveraging engaging Lexile-leveled stories and empathetic artificial intelligence-powered oral reading fluency support.”

Reading Buddy improves childrens’ overall reading ability – accuracy, speed, and expression. It combines proven research-based methodologies such as independent reading, teacher modeling, repeated reading, and vocabulary practice with advances in speech processing and machine learning to provide empathetic oral reading fluency support.
