“I had the opportunity to review the English portion of the Summer learning HeadStart book. I love this book! I find the lessons not only relevant for test prep and aligned to common core standards, which take the guess work out of looking for material, but help to present materials that are needed for differentiation. It also teaches students necessary skills, while providing detailed explanation for each question. The lessons can be used in small groups, centers or whole groups as well an assessment of a student’s strength and needs. I was also impressed that the book was for grade levels 4 to 5. This indicated that students who are on grade level would not become bored, but rather challenged. The lessons presented in this book will decrease the loss of skills students’ academic gains during the summer months. I highly recommend this book!”
