What is SBAC?
Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) is one of two state consortiums responsible for developing assessments aligned to the new, more rigorous College and Career Readiness (CCR) Standards and Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Test developers are working together to create the new computer based English Language Arts and Math assessments.

The SBAC is based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics. The SBAC tests are comprised of the Summative Assessments, the Interim Assessments, and the Digital Library which have been designed to support teaching and learning throughout the year.

Most states that are in the SBAC consortium will measure student achievement through state tests in the Spring of 2018 and SBAC assessments in the 2018-2019 academic year. The dates for the 2019 SBAC assessment administration vary based on the state and school district. A summary of expected dates are provided in the table below. Please consult your school to get the exact test dates for your student.
