Lionel Sosa and Sam Walton

Font Size
1 Lionel Sosa grew up in San Antonio, Texas.  He was expected to follow his family tradition and learn a trade and become a Democrat.  However, he chose to follow the ideal of the American Dream and also to become a Republican.
2 In doing so, he ran a small ad- agency.  It was then that US Senator John Tower employed Sosa’s company to run his election ad campaign.  This gained Tower his re-election by focusing on the Hispanic vote.  Sosa was then approached by clients such as Dr Pepper to help gain the Latino market sales.  Sosa and Associates became the largest and most profitable US Hispanic ad agency in the country.
3 Since then, he was able to work on many presidential campaigns including that of Ronald Reagan.
4 He now spends his retirement time painting and writing.

1 Sam Walton (1918-1992) founded Walmart and Sam’s Club.  He opened the first Wal-Mart Discount City in 1962 after having several franchise Ben Franklin stores. His main effort was to market American made products. Although after his death, this practice was not continued. He placed his stores close to distribution centers, thereby having stores in multiple areas, not just in major cities.
2 He was listed as the richest man in the US from 1982 to 1988. Walmart and Sam’s Club stores operate in the US and in 15 other countries including, Canada, Japan, Mexico, and the UK.
