Going Mudding with Dad

1 Jeff and his dad love to go mudding on their four wheelers.  Mudding is great fun, but can be dangerous!  Jeff has his own four wheeler, too.  It is not as massive as his dad’s but can go fast and sling mud everywhere.  Mudding has become a sport of sorts in the swamp country in Louisiana where they live.  So picture this in your mind.  A four wheeler with a kid on it going through muddy paths covered in moss and vines.  The mud is thick and water is everywhere.  Get the picture, if you like mud like they do, it is a blast.  The object of mudding is to see who can go the fastest beat the other “mudders” while getting the most mud and filth on them, as well.
2 There are several things to remember and keep in mind when preparing to drive and while driving four wheelers through mud. First, never go out alone.  Buddy up is the best policy.  Always wear plenty of clothing. Jeff and his dad wear long sleeve shirts, jeans, and high top hunting boots.  Never go on a four wheeler without wearing a helmet for protection. Most of them have seat belts, so buckle up. Take water or a vitamin sports drink and a healthy snack with you.  Keep a first aid kit in your four wheeler, too. If you are going out on a path that has several trails, take strips of cloth and tie on branches along the way to find your way back.  Be sure to inspect your vehicle before going out.  Check the basic like oil, gas, clean off any mud left before hand and make sure that your vehicle starts and stops when needed.  While driving do not turn your four wheeler too sharp at any time as this could cause it to flip over.  If the curve ahead of you looks sharp, slow down before you approach, or you might have an accident, as well.  Safety is more important than winning or being the muddiest one out there!
3 Then hit the trails, have fun and enjoy the mud!
