7.SP.5 / 7.SP.7.a - Understanding Probability

By MathwithMrAlmeida

In this video, Mr. Almeida introduces the concept of probability. If you're new to probability or don't really understand it, this would be a great place to start your journey with probability. This illustrates Common Core standards 7.SP.5 and 7.SP.7.a.

7.SP.8.b - List Possible Outcomes for Compound Events

By MathwithMrAlmeida

If you've ever been at a restaurant and seen choices for an appetizer, main dish and dessert, have you ever wondered what could the outcomes be if you had to pick one of each from the choices you had? In this video, Mr. Almeida shows you how to list the possible outcomes of compound events. This video addresses the modeling of how to find the possible outcomes using tree diagrams, as called for in Common Core math standard 7.SP.8.b. This is not asking how many combinations are possible, but rather it is a lesson in WHAT the outcomes are.

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) videos are designed to support states, schools, and teachers in the implementation of the CCSS. Each video is an audiovisual resource that focuses on one or more specific standards and usually includes examples/illustrations geared to enhancing understanding. The intent of each content-focused video is to clarify the meaning of the individual standard rather than to be a guide on how to teach each standard although the examples can be adapted for instructional use.

[7.SP.3-2.0] Assessing Data Overlap - Common Core Standard

Front Row allows students to practice math at their own pace - learning advanced concepts when they're ready and receiving remediation when they struggle. Front Row provides teachers with access to a detailed data dashboard and weekly email reports that show which standards are causing students difficulty, what small groups can be formed for interventions, and how their students are progressing in math. Probability -Flipping a Coin (Part 1)

By Khan Academy

You may have seen the first part of this video on the previous learnboard for common core standard 7.SP.5. If not no worries. :-) This video reviews the probability in a series of coin tosses. Remember that EACH toss is independent so we must multiply each individual probability to find the total.
