00:09 remember when we are putting together the puzzle that is
00:12 our planet using the four spheres as giant pieces .
00:15 Well , we got pretty far last time , but
00:17 we're not done yet . Oh no , that's because
00:20 in addition to the geo sphere and the biosphere ,
00:22 which we talked about last time , there are two
00:24 more spheres that we need to complete our planetary puzzle
00:27 . Those are the hydro sphere and the atmosphere .
00:30 So without further ado , let's dive in . See
00:33 what I did there . I said that because the
00:35 first sphere we're going to talk about is the hydro
00:38 sphere . Hydro comes from the greek word for water
00:41 and all of the water on earth is in the
00:43 hydro sphere . This means that every single drop of
00:46 salt water in the oceans , but also all of
00:48 the fresh water in lakes and rivers is in this
00:51 sphere and it includes all of the water trapped in
00:54 glaciers as ice and the water held deep underground .
00:57 Now there's also water in the air around us ,
01:00 to which we can sometimes see in the form of
01:03 rain and snow . Those things come from clouds ,
01:06 which happened to be way up in the atmosphere .
01:09 Our last but certainly not least , sphere . This
01:13 sphere contains all of the gases on the planet ,
01:16 which is fitting since Atmos comes from the greek word
01:19 for air , although we can't really see the atmosphere
01:22 or grab onto it , It reaches everywhere and covers
01:25 the entire planet like a giant snuggly blanket . But
01:29 our atmosphere blanket isn't all the same , it's split
01:32 up into many different layers . The trouble sphere is
01:35 the lowest layer . It contains 80% of the air
01:38 on the planet . It's also where all of our
01:41 weather takes place above the troposphere is the stratosphere .
01:44 There's no weather up there and much less air ,
01:47 but there's still important gases in it that help absorb
01:50 harmful rays from the sun . The mesosphere is the
01:53 coldest layer of the atmosphere and sits on top of
01:56 the stratosphere . There's almost no breathable air up there
01:59 and even less in the thermos fear above it ,
02:02 where you might bump into some satellites flying around the
02:04 planet . The last layer of the atmosphere is the
02:07 exists fear . That's the highest you can go and
02:10 still be on earth once you leave the exodus fear
02:14 , you're officially in space , baby . Now ,
02:16 these two spheres can be kind of hard to tell
02:18 apart . So let's investigate at the beach . Mm
02:23 hmm . The beach is the perfect place to take
02:27 a closer look at what pieces of our environment make
02:29 up the hydro sphere , in which are parts of
02:31 the atmosphere . The beaches of course , right next
02:34 to the ocean . And since the ocean holds most
02:36 of the water on our planet , it's the biggest
02:38 part of the hydro sphere , The rivers that flow
02:41 into the ocean are also a big part and so
02:43 is the rain that's just starting to fall on our
02:46 beach . Well that's a bummer , but check this
02:48 out while the rain is a part of the hydro
02:51 sphere , the clouds that came from our actually part
02:53 of the atmosphere and the wind that pushes the waves
02:56 around is part of the atmosphere , to even though
02:59 we can't see it , the atmosphere is all around
03:02 us in the form of the air that we breathe
03:08 our planet . Couldn't be the amazing place , we
03:10 know it to be without the four spheres , and
03:13 it can be a tough puzzle to put together ,
03:15 but the result is pretty amazing . I think you'll
03:18 agree .
