00:15 , all verbs that we use to talk about the
00:17 movements of our bodies and to talk about the movements
00:21 of vehicles , like cars , buses and so on
00:25 . So we're going to talk about prepositions uh ,
00:29 that you use commonly with verbs together . Uh ,
00:33 and we're going to talk about whether you can split
00:36 them , whether they're separable are inseparable and talk about
00:40 some example sentences too . So I hope everyone can
00:43 find something in this lesson uh , and maybe ask
00:47 some questions too because in this lesson I have included
00:51 some phrase , all verbs that have different meanings ,
00:54 so different meanings meaning . Uh , they're used for
00:57 things other than movement as well . So send me
01:01 your questions if you have them live . Okay .

02:58 youtube ? Hi everybody on youtube . Abraham high from

03:04 Myanmar . Cool . Sunil Hi from India . Uh
03:07 , Wagner from Guatemala nanda , loose from Colombia who
03:10 we have so many people from all around the world
03:14 . Okay , let's get started . So , uh
03:16 , let's see today's lesson boards . Here are today's
03:19 lesson boards . You can take a picture if you
03:21 like . This is what we're going to cover today
03:24 . We have a lot we are going to talk
03:26 about over and off . So maybe you can see
03:30 I separated today's topics by proposition so over and off
03:36 up and down in and out . So I made
03:39 some groups of phrase , all verbs , we're going
03:42 to talk about them by group . And again ,
03:45 as I said , of course there are other phrase
03:48 , all verbs that use these prepositions but I've chosen
03:52 some focusing on movement and focusing on maybe some phrase
03:57 . All verbs you might not know . So as
04:00 we begin , don't forget to hit the like button
04:02 and share this video . Yeah , it helps other
04:05 people find today's lesson . So I'm going to share
04:07 the video there . It goes by . Okay ,
04:11 I've shared it . It's all right . I'm ready
04:13 to start . I have shared the video . Let's
04:15 begin with this lesson . Uh , I want to
04:19 start actually . I want to start with in and
04:22 out . I think I had the porter swept ,
04:25 but I want to start with these two today .
04:29 These two groups . So let's be gin , let's
04:32 be good . First group I want to talk about
04:36 is frazzle verbs that use in that use in So
04:41 for today's lesson I separated , I separated them into
04:46 groups like this , so we'll look at a few
04:48 examples of phrase , all verbs in this group and
04:52 an example sentence too . So you can send your
04:55 own example sentence uh in the chat , if you're
04:58 watching live , I will try to check , but
05:01 there are many comments , so please please keep that
05:05 in mind . Okay , let's go . Oh okay
05:09 facebook , are you okay over there ? Good ,
05:11 okay , let's get started . So first one in
05:14 the first phrase , all verb is get in ,
05:16 get in , we use get in to enter to
05:21 mean to enter a vehicle . So vehicle means something
05:26 that you use to move from place to place a
05:29 car , a bus , a truck get in is
05:33 like saying get inside or please enter the car ,
05:37 enter the bus , but we don't really say enter
05:40 the bus in conversation , it sounds a little strange
05:43 . So we would say for example , hurry ,
05:46 get in the car , get in the car .
05:50 Please note when we want to talk about a train
05:54 . We typically say , get on the train ,
05:57 get on the train . Same thing for an airplane
06:01 . Get on the plane . I need to get
06:04 on the plane . We typically use in for smaller
06:09 vehicles , like cars , buses , trucks get in
06:13 , means to enter something . Okay , next ,
06:17 go in , go in , go in . Also
06:21 means to enter to enter , but we use go
06:24 in for a building , a building . So like
06:28 a supermarket , I'm going to go into the supermarket
06:32 . Okay ? Or I went in in past tense
06:36 , go becomes went , I went into the bank
06:40 , I went into the bank . So to go
06:43 in means to enter , we often use this as
06:47 a command like hurry up , go in if you're
06:50 sitting outside for a long time , go in .
06:54 Okay . Okay . Other other others I'm looking for
06:59 your questions as well . Okay , uh baga .
07:04 Hey frank said get inside the office . Note get
07:07 in is used for vehicles , cars , things like
07:11 that for a place you go in , so go
07:15 in the office or go inside the office is also
07:19 okay . All right , other points okay , everything
07:23 looks good so far next is come in , come
07:27 in . So the difference between come in and go
07:32 in is your position or the speaker's position . So
07:38 come in refers to someone outside the building you are
07:45 inside entering . So if I'm in the building here
07:50 and black marker is outside the building and black marker
07:54 comes in the building . I just said it now
07:58 come in to come in from my perspective , that
08:01 person comes toward me comes to me . I don't
08:06 say black marker went in the building like their movement
08:11 , their movement is towards me in my direction .
08:15 I use come in to describe that . So it
08:18 sounds much more natural to say black marker came in
08:22 the building so it doesn't sound as natural to say
08:25 black marker went in the building . That sounds like
08:28 the other direction from me . Another one you will
08:33 hear this invitations a lot . If you go to
08:36 someone's house they might say come in , come in
08:40 , it's cold outside or maybe you come in ,
08:43 come in , have some tea or come in ,
08:45 have a drink , have something to eat . So
08:47 we use this as a friendly command to come in
08:51 , come in . Okay good . All right .
08:56 Uh Charles pell asked on Youtube . Go into school
09:00 . Yeah you can use go into school like I
09:02 need to go into school today . It's saturday but
09:04 I have something to do . Okay mm . Um
09:09 All right . Some people are still using get or
09:14 past tense . Got I see . Mr goofy on
09:16 youtube . Get in again . Get in is used
09:20 for vehicles . So don't say I got into a
09:23 store use . I went into a store , go
09:27 in is for building , get in for vehicles .
09:30 So maybe this is a good point for many people
09:32 today . Okay , let's go to the next one
09:37 back in back in . This is a car or
09:40 a vehicle related phrase over to back in . If
09:45 you are driving a car or a truck or van
09:48 or something to back in means to move into a
09:52 parking space with the rear of the car first ,
09:57 the rear of the car first . So if we
10:00 imagine this pencil or this marker as a car ,
10:03 this part is the front this part . This is
10:07 the back . Usually we drive the car this way
10:10 , right ? But when we want to talk about
10:13 backing in , or two back in the rear of
10:17 the car goes first we back in for example ,
10:20 to a parking spot . So we're ready to go
10:24 when we want to leave . So to back in
10:26 means to move into usually usually into a parking spot
10:32 with the rear part first , for example . Hey
10:35 , can you back into this spot ? Can you
10:38 back into this spot ? Okay . All right .
10:46 Uh Why ? All the time for bigger only ?
10:50 I'm not sure what that question means . Mc D
10:52 Can you maybe give me an example ? Oh ,
10:54 it's gone . Okay . Alright , okay . Okay
10:57 . So this is the first group using in uh
11:00 with verbs to talk about movement . All right .
11:04 I don't see other questions , so let's go to
11:07 out out . I have just a few examples with
11:10 ouch , I thought it would be good to talk
11:12 about . So first get out , Get out ,
11:17 We talked about this one . Get in right to
11:19 enter a vehicle to enter the car . Get out
11:24 However , we can use to mean to leave a
11:28 vehicle , like get out of the car or get
11:31 out of the van . That's good too . This
11:35 has the feeling of leaving a place quickly as well
11:41 , so we can use this as the opposite of
11:44 get in . Yes , I need to like ,
11:46 please get out of the car , that kind of
11:48 thing . But this can also have the feeling of
11:52 leaving a place quickly . For example , this party
11:57 is boring , Let's get out of here . This
12:01 party is boring . Let's get out of here .
12:03 So oftentimes often in speech get out of sounds like
12:09 get out of , Get out of . You've probably
12:11 heard this . If you've watched american english tv shows
12:15 , let's get out of here or get out of
12:17 here . That's what it sounds like . So this
12:20 means let's leave quickly . This is boring or this
12:23 is dangerous . Maybe you might hear this in action
12:26 films too . Okay , Good bye Nick . Is
12:31 it okay to say get out of my life ?
12:33 You are . That is 100% correct . Very aggressive
12:37 . If you have a big fight with someone and
12:40 you don't want to see them again . You could
12:42 say get out of my life . I don't know
12:45 if I've ever said that sounds very aggressive . Okay
12:48 . All right , let's go to the next one
12:52 . The next one here is come out to come
12:54 out to come out means to reveal something . So
12:58 if you've been hiding for a long time and you
13:02 reveal yourself , you can use come out to talk
13:07 about that . You use this a lot when you
13:10 are playing games as a kid , maybe you know
13:13 the game hide and seek where you and your friends
13:17 or like your brother or your sister you hide and
13:21 the other person has to find you . So you
13:24 can use this to describe that . For example ,
13:27 my brother hid hid that's the past tense of hide
13:31 . My brother hid in a cabinet for an hour
13:35 . He came out to eat dinner , he came
13:38 out to eat dinner . So he revealed himself from
13:42 his hiding position to eat dinner . So come out
13:46 to come out means to reveal something . Okay ,
13:51 kids looking for your questions . Uh , Julio cesar
13:57 says get in versus get into Yeah , good question
14:00 about this . Like can I say like get into
14:03 the car , you can , but in cases where
14:07 there's not a , not a difference between the meaning
14:11 . So like for example , get in the car
14:14 versus get into the car . I feel we tend
14:17 to use the shorter version just to be a little
14:20 bit more efficient . It's just shorter . So it's
14:23 easier to say it's one less sound to make .
14:27 Uh , so that's a case where you can ,
14:30 you can use either . There may be some situations
14:34 where it's more natural to use one or the other
14:37 . Yeah . Um , okay . Others , what
14:41 is the meaning of hit ? I said really quickly
14:43 . It means hide in past tense . To hide
14:46 . It becomes to hid are starting to hide becomes
14:50 hid , hide becomes hit . Okay , good .
14:53 Let's go to the next one to go out to
14:57 go out to go out means to leave your home
15:01 to leave your home . For example , I'm going
15:05 out with some friends tonight . So that means I'm
15:07 leaving the house , I am going to go to
15:12 some place with my friends . So this is a
15:15 very open expression , where am I going ? I
15:19 don't know . Or maybe I don't want to say
15:23 I'm going out . For example , I was watching
15:27 a Tv show this week and one character , it
15:30 was a husband and wife won the wife , she
15:33 was planning to leave the house and the husband said
15:36 where are you going ? And she said out so
15:40 she she wanted to be secretive about it . Where
15:43 are you going out ? So go out . Just
15:47 means to leave your home to leave your home .
15:50 You can say you can use it to talk about
15:53 work or school . Like before you go out to
15:56 school or before you go out to work you can
15:59 include the place but you don't have to don't .
16:04 Okay other points I'm going out for dinner . They're
16:07 going out for dinner . Lots of people are going
16:09 out for dinner and the comments . Good . Okay
16:11 . Very nice . Very nice . I'm going out
16:14 for a few drinks . Very nice . Allah rotten
16:18 . Run in and walk in both mean to enter
16:21 a building . Um , yes , you could say
16:24 for example , run into the supermarket and get some
16:27 milk or walk into the supermarket and get some milk
16:30 . We use run in when we want to emphasize
16:35 doing something quickly . So in that case , if
16:39 I said sorry , I need to run into the
16:42 supermarket and get some milk , it's like saying ,
16:45 please wait just one minute . I'm going really fast
16:49 . So it means like , please be patient .
16:51 Okay . Alright . Good . That's part one for
16:54 today . Whoa . That took 20 minutes . Oh
16:57 my gosh . I have to hurry for the next
16:59 part . Whoa . That was so much . Okay
17:02 . Let's take a really , really , really quick
17:04 break and then we'll go very efficiently through the rest
17:08 of today's topics . Okay If you missed it before

17:57 for today's lesson really quick . Oh , thank you
18:00 very much on Youtube for supporting us . I say
18:03 . That's super awesome . Thank you . Thank you
18:05 . Okay , um what was going to say please
18:09 like please like and share this video so other people
18:12 can find today's lesson . Please . Please please make
18:15 sure to do that . It helps other people to
18:18 join . Okay , let's go to up and down
18:22 up and down . Okay , let's go quickly .
18:25 So uh the next group I want to talk about
18:29 up and down next . So let's go quickly .
18:33 I will try to speak uh smoothly but not fast
18:38 , but let's go efficiently through these . So first
18:41 one is get up , get up to move your
18:44 body from bed for example , it's two PM .
18:49 You need to get up , it's two PM .
18:51 You need to get up . You might think what's
18:53 the difference between get up and wake up to wake
18:57 up means to open your eyes . So in bed
19:00 you open your eyes , you don't have to get
19:03 up immediately . You don't have to get up and
19:06 wake up at the same time . I think most
19:09 people , most people usually wake up and after that
19:13 they get up right . Like you would usually ,
19:15 I don't know about you . Usually we don't wake
19:18 up and get up at exactly the same time .
19:21 That sounds interesting . So get up means to move
19:25 your body from bed to move your body from them
19:28 . It's two pm . You need to get up
19:31 , please get up , please get out of debt
19:34 is another way to say that next is sit up
19:38 , sit up to sit up , means to move
19:43 from a relaxed sitting position to a position with the
19:49 back straight . What does that mean ? So maybe
19:53 you've heard your parents say this , you're sitting at
19:55 your computer kind of like this slouched , right ?
19:59 This position is called a slouch . Your parents might
20:03 say , Hey Alicia , sit up . Your posture
20:05 is bad . That means to sit with good posture
20:08 , your back is straight . So we use sit
20:11 up to refer to that sit up . For example
20:15 , you slouch a lot . You should sit up
20:19 , you slouch a lot , you should sit up
20:22 . So to sit up means uh , to move
20:25 to a sitting position with a straight back . Do
20:30 you have lists of frazzle verbs ? Here is one
20:33 um , I think , let's see . I've made
20:36 some videos in the past on the Youtube channel about
20:39 other groups of phrase , all verbs . So I
20:42 recommend uh , to check for those , I'm not
20:45 sure how many are available yet . You can do
20:48 a Youtube search for appraisal verb on the Youtube channel
20:52 to find my videos about that . I hope that
20:54 helps you . How do you spell Slouch right here
20:58 ? S L O u C h Slouch . Slouch
21:04 , Javier says , I've also heard sit back .
21:07 Yes , you can use sit back . If someone
21:10 is really excited , like looking like right at the
21:13 camera in my case , you might you might say
21:17 please sit back like we can't see you or please
21:20 sit back and calm down . So that's what sit
21:23 back means to move in a backwards motion . Okay
21:28 , onward , let's go to the next one .
21:31 Pick up . Pick up . This one has two
21:34 meanings . I want to talk about pick up means
21:37 to clean , like to pick up your room to
21:40 pick up things in your room and put them away
21:44 . So to clean is one use and we use
21:48 it to mean to collect someone or to collect something
21:54 . So two example sentences , please pick up your
21:58 room , it's a mess . Please pick up your
22:01 room means please clean up your room as well .
22:04 So if it's helpful you can imagine your room is
22:08 messy , you should pick up the things on the
22:11 floor and put them in the correct place . So
22:15 this is may be helpful . Okay and this one
22:20 to collect someone or to collect something means for example
22:24 or for example he has to pick up his boss
22:28 at the airport , he has to pick up his
22:30 boss at the airport . That means he has to
22:33 go to the airport and collect or pick up his
22:37 boss . Okay so pick up bob , pick up
22:41 means choose , no pick means choose to pick .
22:44 This is actually a very common error . I hear
22:47 some learners say please pick the phone no completely wrong
22:52 , nope cannot say pick the phone . Please pick
22:55 up the phone . Pick up the phone . Pick
22:58 means choose yes , So please pick me or pick
23:02 one of these . Please pick up and pick are
23:05 different . Okay , Okay uh Mr Goofy says after
23:11 I got up I picked up around my desk and
23:13 sat down in my chair , then sat up my
23:17 back this morning . Mm sat up . We don't
23:20 say sat up my back . So when you want
23:23 to describe like what I talked about , sit up
23:27 . We don't have a direct object with this bird
23:30 . We don't say sit up my back or sit
23:32 up my body part , there's no direct object here
23:36 . So I sat down in my chair and I
23:40 sat up straight , right . So I used to
23:44 sit down and sit up together there . So that
23:48 means I sat down in my chair and I sat
23:51 up straight . That's how you could describe uh those
23:55 two actions together . Okay , big box incubators .
24:00 How do we begin using these phrases ? I chose
24:02 these phrases because they are easy to use in your
24:05 everyday life . So think about them or talk to
24:08 yourself in everyday life . You can use all of
24:11 these probably maybe today . So practice them uh to
24:16 talk about your movements and your actions . Okay ,
24:23 onward . We have to go next one . I
24:25 have a group here called up to there's one mini
24:28 group up to . This is a question I got
24:31 from a viewer on the Ask Alicia series uh ,
24:35 somewhat recently up to we can use up to with
24:39 any of these like um movement , motion verbs like
24:43 walk , run drive or jog . We use up
24:48 to With these two mean to do that action until
24:53 you reach a point , for example , he walked
24:57 up to the front of the room , he walked
25:01 up to the front of the room . You can
25:04 say . He walked to the front of the room
25:06 that's also fine , walked up to gives the feeling
25:11 of some like finish point . That walk doesn't have
25:15 another example . We drove up to the forest ,
25:19 we drove up to the forest like we did this
25:21 action until we reached this point . The forest ,
25:25 that's the very small difference in feeling . But this
25:30 is extremely common . We use this a lot .
25:32 It's very very common . Okay onward . Let's go
25:36 to down now . Down so down notice I have
25:41 marked these with stars . That means that you can
25:44 split or separate these . I'll explain what this means
25:48 in just a second . First one with down is
25:51 take down to take down something . There are a
25:54 couple of meanings for today . This means to remove
25:59 , to remove for example , you should take down
26:03 your holiday decorations . It's may you should take down
26:07 your holiday decorations , you should remove your holiday decorations
26:12 or you should take down that sign , it's really
26:15 old . So to take down means to remove something
26:20 , we often use it for decorations or announcements ,
26:24 that kind of thing to take down . So what
26:27 does this split mean ? It means we can put
26:30 our object between the verb and the preposition . That
26:37 means you can say you should take your holiday decorations
26:41 down . That is also okay . So some phrase
26:44 all verbs , it's okay to split in this way
26:47 . Some we cannot . All right , you let's
26:52 go to the next one . Right down to write
26:54 down . To write down , means to write on
26:56 paper to write on paper . Usually like a quick
26:59 note or a quick idea . For example , I
27:03 have a great idea . Okay write this down ,
27:06 write this down . So you can it's more natural
27:09 to say write this down than right . Please write
27:13 this like you can say it I guess , but
27:15 we usually use write this down , right this okay
27:21 , leo what does it mean ? Take him down
27:23 ? So to take someone down means to defeat someone
27:27 . So like in sports or in like a physical
27:30 competition , it means to defeat someone , take him
27:33 down , means to beat someone to to win .
27:37 Often in a physical , like a physical fight to
27:40 take someone down . It can also mean like in
27:44 like a like a business setting to defeat someone ,
27:47 like defeat a competitor to take someone down . It
27:50 sounds very aggressive , but I hope that that helps
27:54 . All right , let's go to the next one
27:57 . Put down . Put down again . This one
28:00 has some other meanings . But for today it means
28:03 to place something you are holding on a surface .
28:07 So imagine you have a drink you have in your
28:10 drink and your family members says put down your drink
28:14 and help me move the sofa , put down your
28:16 drink and help me move the sofa . Might be
28:18 like , oh , okay . I put it down
28:21 on the table so put down . That's the idea
28:25 . Something I'm holding . I hope I'm holding something
28:28 here . I put it down somewhere beneath where it
28:33 was before . Put down . Okay , again ,
28:36 we can split this one , put your drink down
28:39 and help me move the sofa is also okay .
28:43 All right , You let's be done with part two
28:46 . We are already late and I have two more
28:49 points to talk about . Let's go quickly . Okay
28:52 ? We have some extra time today facebook are you
28:54 ok ? Ok . I still see you . Okay
28:56 , good lobster for a second . Let's go to
28:59 Part three . Super , super quickly and then we'll
29:03 be done for this week . You have lots of
29:05 brazel verbs to practice at your house . Uh This
29:08 week I hope it's helpful . What's the adjective used
29:11 when you're using headphones and they're comfortable to have them
29:13 on comfortable ? It's fine . I'm not sure you
29:17 mean you're using headphones and they feel comfortable ? You
29:20 can say comfortable , maybe I'm missing something . Okay
29:23 , let's go to the last two points for today
29:27 . The last two points . Also , if you
29:28 haven't please make sure to hit the like button .
29:31 Yeah , it really helps other people find the video
29:34 . All right , onward over over . So a
29:38 few for over . It's over meaning to the side
29:43 . This is a theme with these phrase . All
29:45 verbs first move over to move over , means to
29:49 move to the side like move over , I have
29:52 no space so to move over just means to move
29:56 to the side to move over . Okay , next
30:00 is roll over , roll over . This means to
30:04 roll to the side so to roll , I can't
30:07 show you a role now , but to roll this
30:09 motion your body makes this motion like in bed at
30:13 night , for example his wife rolled over in her
30:18 sleep . His wife rolled over in her sleep .
30:21 Mhm . And one more for a car . So
30:24 movement of a car or I guess a bicycle .
30:28 Uh And so on is also okay pull over ,
30:32 pull over means to move a car to the side
30:36 of the road to move a card to the side
30:39 of the road . So you're driving driving , driving
30:41 and you have to pull over . You have to
30:44 move your car to the side of the road and
30:47 stop for example . Oh no , the police ,
30:51 you should pull over so you should move your car
30:55 from the road and stop to pull over to pull
30:59 over . Okay ? You let's go to the last
31:03 part quickly . So , uh , we have over
31:06 , move over , roll over and pull over so
31:10 you can use these to talk about moving to the
31:13 side . All right , onward , let's go to
31:17 off off the last group . There are only ,
31:20 I think , yeah , there are only three here
31:22 . So we'll finish quickly . First is knock off
31:26 , knock off . This means to stop to stop
31:30 doing something and it means to hit something and cause
31:35 it to fall . So for example , kids say
31:39 this expression a lot , knock it off , knock
31:42 it off . That means stop doing that . Stop
31:45 doing that . Adults say this too sometimes , but
31:49 it's a very casual phrase . It sounds a little
31:51 bit childish , knock it off . You're being annoying
31:55 . Okay ? And this one , this means to
31:59 hit something and cause it to fall , I knocked
32:03 a glass of water off the table . I knocked
32:06 a glass of water off the table so it's sitting
32:09 on the table . I bumped it got it fell
32:14 from the table . Okay , So you cause something
32:17 to fall . Okay , onward . Last to last
32:22 to the next one is work off . This one
32:24 is interesting . This is a really interesting one to
32:28 work off , means to lose something through physical activity
32:33 . We usually use this to talk about uh like
32:38 having a healthy diet . So we use this a
32:41 lot after we eat a lot of junk food .
32:44 For example , I ate five doughnuts at lunch .
32:50 I'm going to go for a long run later and
32:54 work them off , work them off to them .
32:58 Here means my five doughnuts , my lunch . Donuts
33:02 . Ok , so I say I ate five doughnuts
33:04 at lunch . I'm gonna go for a long run
33:07 and work as in like workout exercise , work them
33:11 off . So that means I want to do physical
33:14 exercise to remove those , like to remove the calories
33:20 to remove all of the junk from my body .
33:24 So we use work off to mean to lose something
33:28 through physical activity . You might hear this used to
33:32 talk about stress to I need to work off some
33:35 stress at the gym . Okay . Finally , last
33:41 point fall off to fall off . This means to
33:45 be moved from a high position from a shelf .
33:48 Maybe . So like this my markers on the shelf
33:51 and then I don't touch it . That's the key
33:54 here . I don't touch it , but it falls
33:57 . Oh no , that's how we that's the difference
33:59 between fall off and knock off . If something falls
34:03 off the shelf , I did not touch it ,
34:06 knock off is used to mean I on accident moved
34:10 it , I touched it . Okay . For example
34:13 , my book fell off the shelf . A book
34:17 fell off the Shelf 80 in an earthquake for example
34:20 . Okay . Okay . That was a lot .
