00:00 this video is looking at the basics of area perimeter
00:03 and volume of rectangular shapes , something you were using
00:06 , a fair fair amount of in building . So
00:10 first off , we're gonna have a look at perimeter
00:13 to help you explain parameter . I'm going to use
00:15 this house plan here . The perimeter were quite simply
00:18 , is a distance around the outside of the shape
00:20 of a rectangular shape and you'll be using it a
00:23 fair bit in building or something like that . They
00:25 were working at the guttering or the eaves required on
00:28 a house . Okay , so we first off mark
00:32 on these outsides , You see 818 , the next
00:36 side , 12 1 , decide after that , going
00:42 around 818 and the final side is 12 1 to
00:51 work at the perimeter . What we would do is
00:53 we would add all these measurements together . You do
00:56 this and the answer you get , It's 40,720 ,
01:01 Or roughly , just under 41 m of material ,
01:04 you know , whatever could be facial guttering , anything
01:07 like that . So that's the perimeter . Pretty simple
01:12 . Just add all the outside measurements together . Next
01:15 we'll get onto the area . The area is a
01:18 measurement of death . The manner space . The two
01:20 dimensional object has a measure of length by week .
01:24 Okay , in the for example , here I have
01:27 a floor which measures six m by four m .
01:32 Very simply to work the area out . You just
01:35 get six times by four . Only get the answer
01:37 of 24 m2 . We'll just check this out .
01:41 So what I'm doing right now , I'm separating all
01:45 little parts of the length and the width into the
01:48 individual meters and we can count them up . Okay
01:53 . Been done for the width nationally and there we
01:58 go . So now we can count these up .
02:00 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 All the way
02:04 through 24 m squared . As you'll see the units
02:09 there are in meters squared . Okay . The actual
02:13 measurement is a meter by meter that we're talking about
02:15 each of these 24 little things . Okay . And
02:17 that's why it's written as a squared . Okay .
02:21 Next we're going to look at his volume . Okay
02:25 . Volumes . Basically where we've got a two dimensional
02:28 object and we've extended it with third plane and so
02:32 what we're looking at is three different measurements Measureed going
02:35 to be looking at here . The little box ,
02:36 two m . Why four m by three m .
02:44 You have separated up into all these little boxes here
02:47 . Yeah . The way that you'd work out the
02:49 volume is very , very simple . You just multiply
02:51 the length , the which and it did . Which
02:55 is three times 4 times two . Would you give
02:59 you the answer of 24 m3 began to write that
03:04 meters with a little thrill above it . Many cute
03:07 . There's three sides are dealing with . Okay ,
03:11 so this is all very , very easy , major
03:13 difference with all these things here . You can consider
03:16 it quite easily . Things like perimeter , You're just
03:19 adding up all the things around the outside . If
03:21 you're dealing with area , you just multiplying the length
03:25 of time with , you're dealing with volume , you're
03:27 multiplying the width , length , and depth . Okay
03:31 , so you're going to be dealing with a fair
03:33 bit with building if you luck with that .
