00:00 | Hello and welcome to the Tech mouth channel . What
00:02 | we're gonna be doing today is going to be adding
00:03 | some decimals together . We're gonna be looking at how
00:05 | we do this . So Pretty much I'll give you
00:09 | an example of where we would add decimals . So
00:12 | for instance the one we're gonna look at is this
00:14 | one here we go , 15 point 301 I'm going
00:19 | to add this to 2.9 And I'm going to add
00:24 | this as well to 0.07 . And this problem will
00:28 | show us how we actually add decimals together . So
00:31 | when we add any number together , it's really ,
00:34 | really important to line up the numbers in the same
00:36 | place where you , so we have units here here
00:39 | here and you know , tents , which is here
00:43 | here here . So we line these up and that's
00:45 | really , really important with decimals . Um , and
00:48 | it's really , really easy with decimals to because basically
00:51 | the way you do this is lining everything up with
00:52 | the decimal place . I'll show you how we would
00:55 | do this . So we would go We would write
00:58 | this as follows 15.301 . And I'm going to add
01:03 | this to 2.9 . We're going to see the decimal
01:06 | places lining up together and we're going to add this
01:10 | to zero 07 Okay , so we're gonna add these
01:16 | all together . Yeah , I think the other ,
01:21 | so everything lines up , it's really good . So
01:23 | the 10th hundreds thousands all line up together . Um
01:28 | but you also see that not all of these numbers
01:31 | actually have , this one has tents but it doesn't
01:33 | have 104 thousands . What is this one does and
01:36 | this one doesn't have thousands . So I think the
01:39 | next step with this and you can , as you
01:41 | get better you might not do this is you can
01:43 | actually pad these numbers out . So basically we add
01:45 | zeros until all the numbers have the same week .
01:48 | It's just a good habit to get into the start
01:51 | . Okay suit we're going to make this point with
01:54 | three decimal places in length . This one's a point
01:56 | with three decimal places in length . This one's a
01:58 | point with two . So add one more zero .
02:00 | They're never got three decimal places in length and then
02:03 | we can add these guys together just like a standard
02:07 | some sort of thing . So one we'll start with
02:09 | thousands one plus nothing plus nothing is one . Well
02:14 | I shouldn't say nothing . I told off in another
02:16 | video for this alcohol is 00 plus zero plus seven
02:21 | . He's seven . We're gonna look at that attempts
02:24 | . So three plus nine is 12 . So from
02:28 | that I'm gonna put the uh two down At a
02:32 | 10 part . I'm gonna carry over here as a
02:34 | one . Okay , so then we're gonna go one
02:37 | plus five is six plus two Is 8 , 0
02:42 | is id . And then the one is all by
02:46 | itself , so you end up with this and then
02:48 | we just have to wear this desk will place lines
02:50 | up , we just put the decimal there but that
02:54 | is a writer so it's not too bad , it's
02:57 | nice and easy . Hopefully you can work this out
03:00 | and tell you what , I'll give you one more
03:01 | example just so you can practice this . Sorry what
03:08 | about we I give you This one here , we're
03:11 | gonna go three numbers again , we'll go uh 256.01
03:18 | . We're going to add this to 27.8 four and
03:24 | I'm going to add this to 0.011 . Okay So
03:31 | first off again we're gonna right there so they occur
03:34 | in a nice straight line and everything lines up .
03:36 | So so we'll start down here 256 0.1 Uh so
03:44 | now there's 27 is gonna line up 27 and you
03:47 | know it will because of the decimals line up here
03:50 | , 0.84 And I also have 0.011 . Okay ,
03:58 | this one is two days away , this is two
04:00 | days away , this is three days away . So
04:02 | I'm gonna put some zeros here to have these other
04:04 | numbers out a little bit . You won't do this
04:07 | as you get better and better at that . But
04:08 | again it's it's good practice at the start and we're
04:10 | going to add these . So let's do this .
04:13 | 050 plus one . What one plus four plus ?
04:17 | Would is six zero plus 80 I The deaths of
04:24 | ice there , six or 7 is 13 . I
04:28 | put the three there . I carry . The one
04:31 | one plus five is six plus two . He's right
04:36 | . And then finally the two from 200 goes there
04:38 | . So answer . There's 283.861 . Anyway . I
04:44 | hope you did really , really well with those .
04:45 | I'll see you next time . Bye . |
