00:0-1 Good day . Welcome to Tech Math Channel . What
00:02 we're gonna be having a look at in this video
00:03 is we're going to be having a look at a
00:04 method of addition to slight tweak on normal edition and
00:08 it's called no carry edition . Like the name suggests
00:11 it pretty much it tries to avoid carrying as much
00:15 as possible . Look , this method is not much
00:17 faster than normal edition or grant that straight away ,
00:20 but it's mainly for people who struggle with , with
00:25 carrying a cross or possibly are people who are just
00:27 looking for a slight different method of adding and subtracting
00:30 and things like this . Okay , so let's have
00:33 a quick look at this . Now , the way
00:34 that this works is as follows . Um , first
00:37 off , I'll tell you what , Oh , give
00:40 an example and then we'll look at how we'll work
00:42 this out . So say we're going to add 3145
00:47 6182 . and 9128 . Okay , that'll do us
01:00 for the start . Okay , So the way this
01:04 works is as follows , we're gonna be adding columns
01:07 as we go . All right . Uh but when
01:10 we do this , we're going to be we're gonna
01:12 be looking for complementary pairs just to help ourselves out
01:15 . We're going to get these totals , we're gonna
01:16 put them on slightly differently to how we do in
01:19 normal edition . Uh But one of the advantages of
01:21 this is we can actually , instead of adding left
01:24 , right to left , we can actually add left
01:26 to right . And this is really good because it
01:29 starts to uh you know , we start out getting
01:32 the most significant figures first , the least significant figures
01:35 last . And so the answer starts to get more
01:38 and more accurate as we go along . So what
01:41 about , I'll show you how to do this .
01:43 So let's start over this side here . Okay .
01:45 So let's look for complementary pairs . Will add all
01:47 these together , complementary pairs . These are ones that
01:49 add up to 10 . So do you see any
01:51 that we have seven and three there ? 10 ,
01:53 1925 . Okay . And this Is 25,000 , so
01:59 we can put this straight away in this 25,000 column
02:04 . Okay . The number finishes that the units part
02:08 of it finishes . There we go from there .
02:09 Okay . One plus one plus one plus one .
02:14 Easy is four . All right . So we're gonna
02:16 be looking at an answer . It's about 25,000 .
02:20 25,400 . We're getting closer . Okay , Let's add
02:24 these next ones together . eight and 2 is 10
02:29 18 . Alright , Let's put that in I think
02:33 . Alright , it's getting closer and closer , isn't
02:35 it ? 20 minutes a bit more now , maybe
02:37 you know 25,580 . Yeah . Okay let's have the
02:43 next ones together . Uh Tonight is ted 18 .
02:49 Okay , I'll put those ones in as well .
02:51 So now let's add these all together . Okay so
02:55 we're gonna some what we have here now and get
02:57 our grand total here . So let's do this as
03:00 follows . Okay . We have eight , we have
03:02 a nine , we have a five , we have
03:06 a five and we have a two . Okay .
03:09 25,598 . As you saw , we got closer and
03:13 closer to our answer as we went along . Okay
03:15 . With 25,025,425,580 . Okay . So we got closer
03:22 and closer and closer to our aunts . And so
03:24 I think it's one of the advantages of this um
03:27 You will notice occasionally you do get little carries at
03:29 this stage . I think it's easier possibly to do
03:33 that at that stage , but they're usually easier numbers
03:36 to work with . So let's have another look at
03:40 using this . Okay . I will rub this out
03:45 and we will start with another question . All right
03:49 . What about we have a look at another 1
03:55 . 3170 for 609 . 3087 . 1962 . 5000
04:13 143 . Uh Let's face it . That'll do it
04:17 for the hours . I'm gonna run out of room
04:18 , aren't ? I'll tell you what You give this
04:20 one to go . Alright , pause the video .
04:22 Give it a go . All right . Hopefully you've
04:24 done it . Hopefully you paused it . We'll see
04:26 the answer is I'm gonna be going from again left
04:29 to right here . So let's add these together .
04:31 I don't see any complementary numbers . So let's uh
04:35 Let's just add them as we go . 367 ,
04:38 12 . Okay . All right . This next column
04:44 . Okay . The hundreds . We have 10 ,
04:47 16 17 . This one here , we have a
04:51 10 icing 25 . This one here . 10 1921
05:02 . 25 . Okay , so let's add them again
05:07 as we go . Uh I should be putting probably
05:09 lions here to meet and everything up , shouldn't I
05:14 ? Okay , We have five . We have a
05:16 seven . We have a nine . We have a
05:18 three . We have a one . Okay . So
05:20 we started with 12,000 . We got closer when we
05:23 got 30 13,700 . And just adding these as we
05:26 go along . And you can see we got closer
05:28 and closer and closer and closer to our answer .
05:30 So , how did you go with that one ?
05:32 Hopefully that was the answer you got . Uh Oh
05:34 that hopefully I didn't get the answer just wrong then
05:36 , which does happen occasionally . Um So what about
05:41 I'll give you one last one of these , we'll
05:46 put it on there . Um What about we go
05:51 to 67026708 . What about 9120 for what ? About
06:02 uh 13,000 two . And then finally we'll uh another
06:13 couple up there , we'll do uh just a nice
06:16 small 1 . 100 and 61 and we'll do another
06:22 one which is going to be oh 4227 . Okay
06:30 , now let's add these together . Okay so uh
06:34 huh You're going to start doing these ones , I'm
06:37 going to start doing it from this side . Two
06:39 plus one is three . So we're gonna be looking
06:41 in the 30,000 range because we're in the tens of
06:43 thousands . Now , let's add these next ones up
06:45 . Look for complementary numbers . We have 10 here
06:48 , 1922 . Okay , so this is 20 .
06:52 So we're gonna be looking about 52,000 . Okay ,
06:55 starting these mentally in my head . Okay . We
06:58 have a 10 , 11 , 12 , 14 .
07:03 We have a 10 14 and then finally what we
07:09 have is a 10 18 1926 . Look , I'm
07:13 running out of room , I'm gonna have to start
07:16 moving my are stuff down there . So let's finally
07:20 add what we have here . We have a 6654
07:25 , 3 And a five . So answer 53,000 566
07:33 . Anyway , what do you think of that method
07:36 ? That's uh it's not a bad method if you
07:38 want to avoid carrying . It's just a different way
07:39 of looking at mathematics . Okay . That's all this
07:42 is devoted to . It's not always going to be
07:43 the fastest method . I personally find other methods a
07:46 little bit faster than this , But anyway , let
07:48 us know what you think . Okay , see you
07:50 later . Bye .
