00:0-1 Welcome to the Tech mouth channel . I'm josh .
00:02 Fireback . Consider this diagram here We're going to be
00:05 looking for four unknown numbers that can be used to
00:07 make these equations correct ? That is to say this
00:10 number plus this number will be equal to eight .
00:13 This number subtract this number will be equal six .
00:16 This number plus this number will equal 13 . And
00:19 this number plus this number will be equal to eight
00:22 . Suppose this video . If you'd like to give
00:24 this problem and try and when you're ready to keep
00:26 watching and learn how to solve this problem , start
00:28 up again . Yeah . Yeah . Mhm . So
00:39 how can we solve this problem ? First off ,
00:41 let's label these four unknown numbers to help us out
00:44 . We'll call this one A . This one be
00:46 this one C . And this one D . Now
00:49 we know a couple of things here . We know
00:52 that C plus A . Is equal to 13 .
00:56 We also know that B plus a is equal to
01:00 eight . So we can use elimination to form a
01:03 new equation where they will counselor . A . A
01:07 subtract A . C . Will subtract B . And
01:10 here we'll have 13 subtract leaving us with five .
01:14 So we have a new equation relating to see and
01:17 be . We also know that be Plus D .
01:22 is equal to eight . We know that C .
01:25 Subtract D is equal to six . So once again
01:29 we can use elimination to form a new equation positive
01:33 D . A . Negative D . Will cancel each
01:35 other out . What we'll do here is we will
01:37 end up with C plus B . And on this
01:40 side we'll have the product of eight and six which
01:43 is equal to 14 . Now we have two brand
01:46 new equations relating to see and be . We can
01:50 use once again simultaneous equations to solve these . So
01:54 as you can see negative be a positive be cancel
01:57 each other out when we put these two equations together
02:00 , C plus C is equal to to see This
02:04 is equal to 14-plus 5 which is equal to 19
02:08 . Therefore , what do we have ? Well ,
02:10 it to C is equal to 19 , C is
02:12 equal to half of that , which is 9.5 .
02:16 So we can go through now and start substituting in
02:19 some values . We know that . See here is
02:21 equal to 9.5 . What else do we have ?
02:25 9.5 . Take away one Ankle 6 . This will
02:28 be 3.5 . The product of this number 9.5 plus
02:33 . This unknown number is 13 . So therefore this
02:36 number up the top here has to be 3.5 .
02:39 The product of 3.5 plus is unknown number is eight
02:42 . Therefore this unknown number has to be 4.5 ,
02:46 4.5 and 3.5 do add up to Eagle eight ,
02:49 so we know that our answer is correct , and
02:51 that's the answer . Thanks for watching the Tech Math
02:54 channel . As always , a big thank you to
02:56 my subscribers and patrons for your support . Please comment
02:59 below and email me with any math problems or videos
03:01 you would live made . See you next time .
