00:0-1 Today and welcome to the tech mouth channel we're going
00:02 to have a look at in this video is how
00:03 to multiply by multiples of 10 . This means multiplying
00:07 by hundreds , thousands , tens of millions . Alright
00:11 , maybe you're really , really good at these .
00:12 We'll see by the end of this video . I
00:14 think you should be an absolute a look . All
00:18 right . What about say something like 26 times 100
00:24 . How would you get the answer to that ?
00:26 Well , these aren't really that bad , but there's
00:28 a little trick with us and this is the way
00:30 I do these . First off , I count the
00:33 number of zeros on this particular number here . The
00:36 one with the tens based one , which is this
00:39 ? So there's 120 is there ? And I get
00:41 my 26 And there's a decimal place after this .
00:45 26 . You can't see it . We don't often
00:47 draw it in but it's there and we have to
00:49 move it . We have to move the decimal place
00:52 . That's what we're doing . Whenever it's time to
00:54 buy tens or hundreds of thousands were just moving this
00:57 decimal place , 26 itself will stay the same .
01:01 So we're going to move this decimal place and we're
01:03 gonna end up with the moral zeros . Um ,
01:07 how many times we're going to move it ? Well
01:09 , we crossed out 12 zeros here . That's how
01:11 many times we're going to move it . Okay .
01:14 To zeros we're going to jump two times . So
01:16 one two . Okay . That's one place is going
01:20 to end up here . What we draw underneath or
01:23 above the , sorry , above these particular little jumps
01:26 is we put zeros there . Okay . And we
01:30 get the answer of 2000 600 . Pretty easy .
01:36 Right , I'll give you one more of these .
01:38 Mm hmm . We'll get rid of that . And
01:41 the next one will do is say something like 33
01:45 . What about 350 times 1000 ? Okay , so
01:52 first off , let's have a look how many zeros
01:53 as , as 123 zeros . We're going to have
01:57 to move this number is getting bigger as we're times
02:00 again . We're going to have to move three times
02:04 three Zeros . So all right down by 350 .
02:09 Yeah . Where the decimal places just here and I
02:12 move the number 12 three times and above these .
02:17 I put my zeros . So my answer . 350
02:25 1000 . Okay , I'll get one more of these
02:31 And this one is going to be a bit of
02:32 a tricky one . Okay , this one I'm going
02:36 to put a decimal place already in the number .
02:38 So what about I do say something like 3.75 and
02:44 I'm going to times this by 1000 . Okay .
02:49 So let's count the number of zeros in this particular
02:53 thing where timing by there is 123 zeros . Okay
02:58 . Okay . Because we're timing the numbers getting bigger
03:00 , the decimal place is going to move this way
03:03 . It's going to move three times this way .
03:05 So 3.75 decimal place . Alright , actually rewrite 3775
03:10 to get myself into space here . The decimal place
03:12 is going to move one two three times . And
03:17 what we're gonna do is we're going to end up
03:19 with a zero in here . So the answer we
03:21 get is 3700 and 50 . Here's a few questions
03:28 for you to practice boy . See here you go
03:31 on them . So here's the questions . All right
03:36 . I recommend you pauses and I want to go
03:37 through the answers in five seconds . So 54 three
03:43 two one . All right , so how do you
03:47 go with those ? Okay , let's have a look
03:49 . So We've got two zeros on this one here
03:54 . So we're going to move the decimal place on
03:56 the 6 52 times . So 6 50 I'm gonna
04:00 move it 12 times . The answer is 65,000 .
04:05 This one we got 30 as a decimal places .
04:08 Gonna have to jump three times . So 45 123
04:15 45,000 . The answer this one we have 123 decimal
04:19 places . So decimal place . So the decimal place
04:23 is going to jump three times . 123 Yes ,
04:27 This one got 10 . So we're going to move
04:30 the decimal place one time . So 9.6 I have
04:34 to move it once . Okay , so there's some
04:37 places getting up here . My answer is going to
04:39 be 96 . This one here , I've got 12
04:43 decimal 20 So I have to move the decimal place
04:45 twice . So 3.7 point 375 I'll have to move
04:50 the decimal place 12 times . Decimal place is gonna
04:53 end up here at 7 37 . This one here
05:00 I'm moving the decimal place once . Should end up
05:03 here . Getting 74.2 . This one a bit of
05:09 a trick one to put in . Put into the
05:11 end here . I'm going to move the decimal place
05:13 123 times . So let's do that . 123 .
05:19 The answer shoes . 12 . Okay . Hopefully went
05:24 really , really good with those . Any questions don't
05:26 fail to ask . You'll always be able to ask
05:29 and I'll always give you help as soon as I
05:31 can get back to you . Okay ? See you
05:33 next time .
