00:38 the news and learn what you can , you also
00:41 need to question things and make your own conclusions .
00:45 Then on election day you can feel more confident about
00:49 your choice . Do you vote ? Do you think
00:52 elections are important ? Yeah . Mm . Before we
01:03 read , let's go over some vocabulary . I wrote
01:06 this text with high frequency words . In fact all
01:10 the words come from a list of the most common
01:12 words you need to know in english . Here's an
01:18 important question related to our text . A monarchy has

01:42 by voting , vote can be a countable noun or
01:46 a verb . Every four years . Americans vote and
01:50 choose a president . Politicians try to win our vote
01:57 . They want us to vote for them . When

02:37 this person have ? What's the noun ? What other
02:42 Suffolk's ? Can we add leadership ? That's the quality
02:48 of being a leader . How about the adjective ideal
02:54 ? Something that's ideal is perfect for someone or for
02:58 some situation . How do we turn ideal into an
03:02 adverb ? What Suffolk's do we add ? L .
03:08 Y . Ideally we say ideally to explain what exactly
03:13 we want for a situation . For example , ideally
03:18 you'll read this text every day for a week ,
03:23 knowing word parts like the Suffolk's . L . Y

05:02 We press a button when we say the press were
05:06 referring to all the people who give us the news
05:09 , tv reporters , newspaper photographers , etcetera . Here
05:16 are more complications . You'll read in the text belong
05:20 to a party , as in a political party run
05:26 for office meaning you're trying to get a political office
05:30 , a position in the government public official . This
05:37 is the person elected to an office for the greater
05:42 good meaning for the benefit of all the people ,

06:08 has a particular effect on us whether we belong to
06:12 this party or that one . We become excited around
06:15 election time . It's a chance to make our voice
06:19 heard . The press uses every occasion to influence us
06:24 . Friends , neighbors and relatives might try to .
06:31 The differences between two people running for the same office
06:34 may not be clear all the time . Their positions
06:38 on taxes , education guns and more may confuse us
06:43 . In the end . Your vote is your own
06:46 . You choose who you want to represent your interests
06:53 together as a nation . We hope for the best
06:56 leadership possible . Public officials are never perfect . However
07:02 , we expect those we elect to guide the growth
