02:16 to speak a little bit more slowly now . Uh
02:19 , so today's lesson boards look like this . We
02:22 are going to practice noun and adjective . So we're
02:27 going to begin today's lesson with now knows how to
02:31 make basic comparisons with Down's then short adjectives . Excuse
02:36 me . And then long adjectives . So today's lesson
02:39 , of course we'll have three groups , uh ,
02:43 three groups of contents that we will cover . Okay

03:16 ahmed Hello everybody mine old this . Hello . Thank
03:20 you . That's very nice . Alright , everybody's here
03:22 . Let's get rolling . Let's start with countable noun
03:27 is today accountable now . Where's my pen ? Okay
03:30 , so we're going to begin today's lesson with countable
03:34 noun and uncountable noun . I am not going to
03:37 talk in today's lesson about uh the like how about
03:43 the details of countable noun and uncountable noun . If
03:46 you want some details about countable and uncountable noun .
03:51 I have some videos on the english class Youtube channel
03:54 . So check those out upward . A link in
03:57 the Youtube description after today's lesson . So you can
04:00 check that out . Okay , let's go . Uh
04:03 Good . Lots of people are saying hi new people
04:06 . Ashwini , great Shiva . Hello . Good ,
04:08 good , good , good . Everybody who is new
04:10 is now saying hello , Fantastic . Thank you new
04:12 people . Well , lots of new people are saying
04:14 , hi , thank you . That's cool . Okay
04:17 , let's start talking about making comparisons with now sounds
04:22 . So I want to cover two groups . Countable
04:27 , announced a quick review . A countable noun is
04:30 now and we can count with 123 Like we add
04:35 an S to the end of the noun to make
04:39 it accountable , like markers or teachers or computers and
04:44 so on phones . These are countable notes . This
04:48 is important when we're making comparisons and in other situations
04:53 too . These are the patterns we use to make
04:56 comparisons with countable noun . The very basic patterns .
05:01 So I'll go through these examples and these patterns today
05:05 . But please in the chat or in the comments
05:08 . If you're not watching live , send me your
05:10 example sentences . If you're watching live , I will
05:12 try to check , I would try to check you
05:14 live . There's a lot that come in now .
05:17 So let's review . We use more plus plural noun
05:21 when I say plural noun here . I mean the
05:25 noun plus S . So for example if it's marker
05:29 , I use markers , Plural means more than one
05:33 . Yeah . So more markers than for example ,
05:38 if I want to express a comparison where one thing
05:42 there is not like fewer . So the quantity is
05:46 smaller of one thing than another thing . I use
05:51 fewer with countable noun . This point right here ,
05:55 many native speakers make mistakes with this . They use
05:58 less with countable now . Please use fewer . So
06:02 for example , fewer students than me . He has
06:06 fewer students than me . Okay , so this is
06:10 a key point for everyone to practice if you want
06:15 to express equal equal amounts of something . So A
06:21 and B are the same amount , the same amount
06:25 . You can use this as many plural noun as
06:30 so this as is on both sides . Yeah ,
06:34 like he has as many students as me . So
06:39 this expresses equal levels , equal levels . Finally this
06:45 last pattern here , not as many plural noun as
06:51 not as many plural noun at this expresses that one
06:56 thing , the quantity of A , the quantity of
07:00 A . So let's use markers again . Let's say
07:03 I have or rather um I think I have an
07:05 example here let's use this one . He doesn't have
07:09 as many shoes as me for example . So this
07:12 is expressing this is a different way to express .
07:15 I have more shoes than he does . So there
07:19 are a few as you can see . Maybe there
07:22 are a few different ways we can express a comparison
07:26 . We can use a negative , we can use
07:28 a positive . It's up to you to choose .
07:31 Let's look at some more examples . This one it's
07:34 kind of hard to see the colors , isn't it
07:36 ? I have more books than you . Another key
07:40 point I noticed with learners , many learners do not
07:44 put this s at the end , please clearly pronounce
07:47 and make sure to spell it with the s .
07:50 With your countable noun . Yeah . I have more
07:53 books than you . We have fewer plants than the
07:58 neighbor . We have fewer plants than the neighbor .
08:02 And again , he doesn't have as many shoes as
08:05 me . Another note with this negative pattern . This
08:09 not as many as pattern this . Not when I
08:14 say not . Sometimes you'll see maybe this pattern directly
08:20 , but this example the knot is here . He
08:25 does not have . So this not is connected to
08:28 the verb . Yeah . So this is just a
08:31 basic negative pattern here . Okay . Um , someone
08:38 says I'm trying to make a sentence and I don't
08:41 know which now onto you . So just think think
08:44 of a noun and think , okay , is this
08:46 accountable now or an uncountable now ? Just try .
08:49 Just try start by trying . Okay , I see
08:54 lots of people on facebook saying hello , welcome ,
08:57 good morning . Mr Alicia . Please use miss .
08:59 Please use myths for girls . Okay . Um ,
09:03 other examples . Salma says he has fewer friends than
09:07 me . Good examples . Yeah , She she has
09:10 more pen , pen . So when you use accountable
09:13 now and use the plural form pens . Pens .
09:16 Don't forget this . S at the end . Okay
09:21 . All right , let's continue to uncountable noun .
09:24 So uncountable noun are now that we do not count
09:28 with a number , like we don't say for example
09:32 at one time . Well , okay , sorry ,
09:35 When we talk about units of uh like minutes and
09:38 hours , time is uncountable or like air is uncountable
09:44 . These are things we use units with smaller units
09:47 with . Again , I'm not going to talk in
09:49 detail about these two grammar points , so I'll put
09:53 a link to this information in the Youtube description .
09:58 Okay , So when we use uncountable noun is to
10:01 make comparisons , we use these patterns more noun than
10:08 something . So you'll notice this one is the same
10:11 as accountable for . Um Yeah . So that's easy
10:13 to remember . However , this one when you use
10:16 an uncountable noun and you want to express that something
10:22 , there's not as much of something or there's the
10:25 quantity is smaller . We use less less . This
10:29 is different from countable noun ones where we use fewer
10:33 fewer countable . Knowns less uncountable noun . So less
10:39 time than less money than and so on . But
10:42 not fewer . Okay then a couple more patterns to
10:49 express that two things are equal as much noun as
10:55 . So he has as much time as me or
10:59 she has as much money as me . So this
11:03 pattern expresses that to amounts are equal , they're equal
11:08 , they're the same . Okay . And finally ,
11:12 to make a negative the kind of the negative version
11:16 of this second pattern , not as much now as
11:21 something . So my boss does not have as much
11:25 free time as me maybe . Okay , so let's
11:29 look at some example sentences that use this grammar .
11:33 First one I have more time than you please notice
11:39 . There is no s at the end of this
11:41 time , because time is an uncountable now . So
11:45 , no ? S here , baldwin says Alicia has
11:50 more hair than me . Good . That's a really
11:53 funny example . Okay , uh , next one is
11:56 he has less money than his boss . He has
12:02 less money than his boss . Okay , so ,
12:05 again , money ? No ? S at the end
12:08 of this , because money is uncountable . Okay ,
12:13 another one , I made a kind of creative example
12:16 sentence here , You have as much bread as the
12:21 bakery down the street . So , this is a
12:24 situation where you arrive at a friend's house for a
12:28 party or event . They have lots of bread .
12:30 And you want to make a funny comment . You
12:33 have as much bread as the bakery down the street
12:38 means that you and the bakery have equal levels of
12:41 bread . That sounds kind of funny . So we
12:44 can use these sorts of comparisons to make creative statements
12:48 to . So , maybe it's not exactly , but
12:51 we just want to express something creatively . We can
12:55 do it like this . Okay . Some of you
12:58 are writing some adjective comparisons , which is great .
13:01 We're going to talk about that later . All right
13:05 . Alright . Some other examples , Michelle says Alicia
13:10 has more pens than me , maybe . Okay ,
13:13 good . Nice example , sentence uh I'm looking for
13:16 your other example sentences on facebook . Someone says ,
13:19 what's her name ? Anyone know ? Yes , My
13:21 name is Alicia . So , okay , let's go
13:24 to johanna says is bread Uncountable . Yes , bread
13:28 . We don't say one bread . Two breads .
13:30 Uh We use the counter word loaf for bread .
13:34 One loaf of bread . Two loaves of bread .
13:37 Again , I will put a link to some videos
13:40 about Countable and Uncountable Now description . Okay , let's
13:44 take a break . Oh , ma fu says why
13:46 do we use have with he when he is the
13:49 third person ? Can you give me an example ?
13:51 I don't think I understand the question . Okay let's
13:54 go to the bank if you missed it earlier .
13:57 There is free stuff for you from the link below
14:00 the video . Uh If you're watching on Youtube or
14:02 above the video , if you are watching on facebook
14:06 you can download some vocabulary . It's all free .

14:33 , hobbies , leisure time , sports and exercise .
14:38 I hope we are all exercising and being healthy .
14:41 So check them out . Uh you need your name
14:43 and email address and you can download them all ,
14:46 print them out whatever you want to do . So
14:48 check them out . It would be cool . All
14:51 right . That's it for the break . Let's go
14:54 to the next part . I'll show you today's lesson
14:56 boards . If you want to take a screenshot ,
14:59 please get ready . Here we go . Boom .
15:01 Okay , so we talked about now knows how to
15:04 make basic comparisons with downs . Now we're going to
15:08 talk about adjectives . We're going to talk about short
15:11 adjectives . There are different rules for short and long
15:15 adjectives . Okay , many of you are asking questions
15:18 about countable and uncountable announces this now accountable . Is
15:22 this not an uncountable again , I'm going to put
15:24 a link in the description for you to check that
15:27 will hopefully answer your questions and this is slightly different
15:30 topic than today's lesson . Alright , short adjectives ,
15:36 Let's go . Let's talk about short adjectives . Okay
15:41 , onward onward onward . I don't seek other questions
15:45 . So here we go . How to make basic
15:48 comparisons with short adjectives with short adjectives . So what
15:53 is short adjective mean ? This means an adjective .
15:57 That is one syllable , 2 , 2 syllables .
16:02 But two syllable adjectives for this rule , they end
16:05 in . Why ? So this is an important point
16:08 for this rule for this comparison rule . What's a
16:12 syllable ? What is a syllable syllable is a beat
16:15 ? It's the beat in a word . So for
16:18 example big has one syllable big . We make one
16:23 beat when we say the word pretty has two syllables
16:28 . Priti Pretty two syllables . There are two beats
16:34 in the word . So this part this is the
16:38 rule we use for short adjectives . Words that have
16:43 one syllable , one beach or they have two syllables
16:47 and they end in Y . So how do we
16:52 make the comparative form with these ? The basic way
16:58 to do it basically we use the adjective plus E
17:02 . R . We add E . R . To
17:04 the end of the adjective . Okay if the adjective
17:11 ends in Y like pretty , the sound is the
17:15 same . So Pretty is an adjective that ends in
17:18 Y . This short adjective that ends in Y .
17:22 We make it pretty are . So the er sound
17:26 is the same as this rule . However , when
17:29 we spell the comparative form the why at the end
17:35 of the word changes , we dropped the Y .
17:38 And we add I . E . R . The
17:40 spelling changes . The sound Is earth still Okay then
17:47 ? Hard to see . I know I'm going to
17:48 read this part . Lastly if this ends if your
17:53 adjective ends in consonant vowel consonant . So vowel remember
17:59 A E I O U . Sometimes y . Those
18:04 are the vowels consonants are the other letters . If
18:09 your adjective ends in this pattern like big consonant vowel
18:14 consonant , double the last consonant . That means put
18:19 too put two of this consonant the last consonant and
18:22 add E . R . To make bigger again .
18:27 This is spelling . Okay . Finally , if the
18:32 adjective ends in e just add art . Okay ,
18:36 so we're going to practice this with a few examples
18:40 . And of course please send them in the chat
18:43 if you're watching live or so uh send them in
18:46 the comments to if you're not watching live . So
18:49 patterns to use these are all present tense patterns is
18:53 an are of course you can use uh past tense
18:58 and so on . So for today we're going to
19:01 focus on very basic patterns . So for example A
19:06 is or are comparative form , then beat . So
19:13 reminder In this practice , we are using adjectives .
19:19 This is different from the first part of the practice
19:22 today . So A is a noun and B is
19:26 in down here . We want to practice making the
19:29 comparative form of an adjective . So you are funnier
19:36 than me . For example , my brother is funnier
19:40 than me . For example , comparative form . Some
19:45 points to note though if you use this pattern or
19:49 this pattern , this negative one A is not as
19:54 adjective as B . Or A . Is as adjective
20:00 as B . There's no change to this adjective .
20:04 We do not need to use the comparative form here
20:08 . So this pattern , for example , my brother
20:11 is not as funny as me . This uses the
20:18 basic form so my brother is not as funnier as
20:22 me is incorrect , incorrect . Do not change your
20:25 adjective in the negative pattern . And in this one
20:31 to express the two things are equal . A .
20:35 Is as adjective as B . Okay , so let's
20:40 look at some examples . First time gelato is tastier
20:45 than ice cream . My personal opinion , gelato is
20:49 tastier than ice cream . My adjective here is tasty
20:53 . Tasty ends in Y . So I follow this
20:56 rule right here . Tastier than ice cream so I
21:02 want to express this thing is in my opinion ,
21:04 better then I scream . Then another one . Seattle
21:09 is not as big as Tokyo . Seattle is not
21:12 as big as Tokyo . So city size in this
21:16 sentence , I use this negative form . So I
21:19 use the basic adjective Seattle A . Is not as
21:24 big as Tokyo . No , change to this project
21:29 . Okay , all right . Someone says tastier .
21:33 So tastier is coming from the adjective . Tasty .
21:38 Something that is tasty . Tasty is a casual way
21:41 to say delicious , delicious . Okay , some examples
21:46 are coming good . Uh , I'm looking for short
21:49 adjectives . Noora says I'm happier than my sister .
21:53 Good job , Nice one . Uh cardiology says he
21:57 is taller than me , but I'm smarter than him
22:00 . Nice example . Okay , someone says Alicia is
22:03 richer than me . Huh , interesting . Okay .
22:06 Uh , Love Khan says my son is taller than
22:09 me . Good examples , everybody , Okay , someone
22:12 says , okay , there's a good example . You
22:15 need to write more bigger , you need to write
22:17 bigger . So bigger is the comparative form more bigger
22:22 is incorrect . Also , this is the size I
22:25 have . So if I write bigger we cannot study
22:29 all the grammar points . So okay , let's go
22:34 . Oh some other questions . What's gelato ? Yeah
22:36 , gelato is like italian . It's I think it's
22:39 from Italy . Originally correct me if I'm wrong .
22:42 Yeah , but it's made with a heavy cream I
22:44 think instead of milk . Yeah . Okay , I
22:47 have to continue to the last point . So this
22:50 is short adjectives . Short adjectives . We are going
22:53 to finish today with long adjectives so real quickly .
22:59 Um real quickly . Short break . If you missed
23:03 it earlier . There is free stuff for you below
23:06 the video . If you're watching on Youtube , above
23:08 the video . If you're watching facebook , I showed
23:11 you a bunch of these already free pdf vocabulary sheets
23:17 to download . So check them out . If you
23:19 have not , you can find Like , I think
23:21 there's like 20 , I don't know there's a lot
23:23 now . So please just go look at them and
23:25 download the ones that you want to get . Okay
23:28 , let's go to the last part of today's lesson
23:31 . I'm going to share the lesson boards again if
23:35 you want to take a screenshot so please get ready
23:38 . Here we go . Okay , so now ones
23:41 with part one , we practice short adjectives . Now
23:45 we are going to practice long adjectives . Long adjectives
23:51 . So again we need to consider syllables . The
23:54 beats in a word , syllables . Okay , let's
24:00 go . So the final part of today's lesson is
24:05 about these long adjectives . So again , two syllables
24:09 or more to silla bulls . The beats of a
24:13 word . Yeah . So for example , beautiful ,
24:16 Beautiful . Has three beats or expensive has three beats
24:21 . These are long adjectives . We use this rule
24:25 for long adjectives . All right , let's go to
24:30 making the comparative form . We use more adjective than
24:36 more beautiful than more expensive than less adjective than so
24:42 less beautiful than or less exciting than as adjective as
24:49 . So this expresses equal . Two things are equal
24:52 . That movie is as exciting as the other movie
24:57 and a negative form . Not as adjective as .
25:03 So maybe you'll notice for this one . We don't
25:05 have to change the adjective . We don't have to
25:09 change the spelling , which is great , right ?
25:11 But we need to consider these parts . And a
25:15 common some common mistakes I see with learners are these
25:19 parts at the end then and then with these two
25:24 more something than less something then . And with these
25:28 two as at the end . As to express equality
25:32 and something . Uh that is not equal , uses
25:36 this as a pattern . Okay , um let's go
25:40 . Two examples . Then . I'm checking for your
25:42 questions and your comments . I'll try to check live
25:45 . Okay , let's look at some examples . Now
25:49 . Action movies are more exciting than romance movies .
25:54 Action movies are more excited than romance movies . So
25:58 more exciting . Here is my adjective . No change
26:02 to the adjective , so not more exciting or but
26:05 more exciting . More exciting . And another point .
26:10 Movies . This is a countable noun . Yeah .
26:12 Action movies are so not . Action movie is incorrect
26:17 incorrect . If you want to talk about one action
26:20 movie only , that action movie is more exciting than
26:26 the other action movie . That's correct . This sentence
26:30 is a general statement about all action movies . Action
26:35 movies generally are more exciting than romance movies . Okay
26:41 , Another one . My phone bill this month is
26:46 less expensive , then my bill last month . My
26:52 phone bill this month is less expensive than my bill
26:56 last month . Okay , so a comparison using less
27:00 again . No change too expensive here . All right
27:06 , other examples . Uhh . Oh look on ,
27:11 be careful on facebook . My car is more expensive
27:13 than my friend's friend . Apostrophe S . If you
27:17 use my car is more expensive than my friend .
27:21 With no apostrophe S . It means the price of
27:24 your car and the price of your friend . You
27:27 don't want to compare the price of your friend .
27:29 Your friend has no price . So my friends ,
27:33 my friends car . Okay . Um All right .
27:39 I don't see other examples . Her computer is more
27:43 expensive than yours says NATO . Good examples . Okay
27:46 . One more the bus today was not as crowded
27:52 as the bus yesterday . So again , the bus
27:55 today was not as crowded as the bus yesterday .
28:02 Native speed . I would say the bus today wasn't
28:04 as crowded as the bus yesterday . We reduce these
28:08 to the bus . Today wasn't wasn't as crowded as
28:12 the bus yesterday . So crowded is my adjective meaning
28:16 lots and lots of people . Okay , cool .
28:20 I'm looking for your examples . I do not see
28:24 . Um , let's see . Jermaine says my cable
28:29 bill , maybe my cable bill this month is more
28:32 expensive than last month . Okay , So when you
28:35 want to compare like those time period ones this month
28:39 or this week or last week , it's sometimes if
28:42 it's not clear , it's a good idea to mention
28:45 the time period . So my bill this month ,
28:48 that my bill this week was more expensive than last
28:52 week , for example . Okay , uh Shima says
28:58 Alicia is crazy . Used as a long or short
29:00 adjective . Crazy follows the short adjective rule . So
29:04 crazy . It's two syllables ends in why ? So
29:07 please use the short adjective rule . So he is
29:10 crazier than she is . Okay , Johanna says old
29:15 cars are more aesthetic than moderate cars . Very cool
29:19 , Good , good , good . Bhavna says today
29:22 , today's today's like apostrophe S Livestream isn't as crowded
29:30 as . Don't forget this as here , I'm sorry
29:33 , this one the negative form not as crowded as
29:37 regular live streams . Okay , uh , joe louis
29:41 Hernandez says , wasn't or wasn't ? Oh , the
29:44 apostrophe apostrophe comes between N and T . Wasn't .
29:49 So in this one was not as crowded . I'll
29:53 write it here when you want to make the reduced
29:55 form of this pattern . Use wasn't wasn't as crowded
30:01 as you're . Apostrophe comes right here to reduce .
30:07 This was not becomes wasn't your apostrophe is here between
30:11 an entity . All right . Uh Charles says is
30:17 cheaper . Is that the same as less expensive ?
30:19 Yeah . Yeah . So you can , you can
30:21 choose whichever you prefer . So I could say my
30:24 phone bill this month was cheaper or is cheaper than
30:28 my phone bill last month or I could say less
30:31 expensive . It's up to you . Both are correct
30:35 . Okay . Oh my gosh , I'm very late
30:37 . I have to finish their , Okay , so
30:40 we have to finish there for today , awesome .
