35:58	possible . You probably aren't a language learning expert or
36:01	a world traveler . You might have school or a
36:04	job or two . So in this video we'll give
36:07	you three ways to help you learn language more efficiently
36:10	so that you get the most out of your time
36:12	and effort . Number one , use your time when
36:15	you have it . The most valuable resource you have
36:18	as a language learner is time while you may not
36:21	have to spend money to learn a language , you
36:23	will have to spend time , hours and minutes are
36:26	a currency that you trade on a weekly basis to
36:28	grow in . Your language learning . Language learning is
36:31	probably a priority for you . It might not be
36:34	the number one priority like keeping your job or taking
36:37	care of your family but it does have to be
36:39	important enough for you to invest significant amounts of time
36:43	into your learning . There's just no way around it
36:45	that being said . Use your time wisely because of
36:49	previous commitments , you can quickly fall into the trap
36:51	of putting your language learning off thinking oh I'll do
36:54	it next week or saturday , I'll do it saturday
36:57	, needless to say a few weeks can go by
36:59	and you haven't really learned or practice anything . If
37:02	you find that happening , then take some time and
37:05	re evaluate your approach . It's probably a long shot
37:08	for you to be able to spend hours every day
37:10	learning a new foreign language , But you can use
37:12	your time to spend an hour or even just 10
37:15	minutes a day every day studying or practicing . If
37:18	you're on a busy schedule , an hour a day
37:20	can sound like reaching for the stars . So start
37:22	slowly with just a five minute lesson over time .
37:25	As you learn more and it becomes more routine ,
37:27	you'll want to spend more time studying and you're studying
37:31	doesn't even need to be all at once . Make
37:34	use of the little gaps of time you have in
37:36	the day , listen to a podcast while driving to
37:38	and from work , review new words while on lunch
37:41	break or right before bed , even a quick review
37:44	while in line at the store or waiting for the
37:45	bus together . These moments add up this way ,
37:49	your little study session will add up to around 60
37:51	minutes of practice every day . You'll quickly be able
37:54	to see significant improvement in your language abilities . Number
37:57	two don't method jump when you're new to a language
38:01	learning , there's a temptation to try out the newest
38:03	course app or method . There are more language learning
38:06	tools and courses than I can list . But jumping
38:09	around from podcast , a podcast or from textbook to
38:12	textbook can really hinder your learning process . It's important
38:15	to find the best method for you , but when
38:17	you do stick with it , don't get distracted by
38:20	the newest app or if you suddenly find something faster
38:23	, cheaper claiming it can teach you a language with
38:25	no work on your part , stick with your learning
38:28	course or tool , consistent practice over a period of
38:31	time is what is essential for language learning . If
38:34	you hit a bump or plateau , you might be
38:37	tempted to think maybe there's a faster , better way
38:39	to learn . So you search around and by the
38:41	next best language learning tool only to use it for
38:44	a couple weeks and realize it wasn't really any better
38:47	than the last course you tried and the same difficulties
38:49	you had are still there . If you're learning your
38:52	first new language and you pick a specific method or
38:55	course , we suggest you stick with it for at
38:57	least 3 to 4 months , you actually hurt yourself
39:00	in the long run if you constantly switch between resources
39:03	because you never give yourself the opportunity to progress .
39:06	Number three , focus on one thing at a time
39:10	When you decide to learn a new language , you're
39:12	going to be really excited . You have all your
39:14	resources lined up a plan in place and you're ready
39:16	to go . You think you'll spend 3-4 hours a
39:19	day practicing and that you'll be fluent in no time
39:22	, but that's only for about three days . Then
39:24	you probably will get a little bit discouraged and avoid
39:27	it for another three days . And this process might
39:29	repeat three or four times before you realize that you
39:32	might be approaching things the wrong way . You can't
39:35	devour a whole new language in a very short time
39:38	, you'll burn out immediately . It's better to focus
39:41	on one small part of the language at a time
39:43	. Either a specific grammar point or specific vocabulary topic
39:47	in the beginning , these should be based on the
39:49	parts of the language you use right away . Even
39:52	in the business world , research shows that replacing less
39:54	important tasks with ones that add value and help you
39:57	reach your goals is the best way to get the
39:59	most out of your time as you advance through the
40:02	language and your level increases . Try to pinpoint the
40:05	harder aspects of the language and work on them one
40:07	at a time . Learning a foreign language isn't easy
40:11	. It takes time and work , but it is
40:13	possible if you stick to your learning plans and stay
40:15	focused , you will see improvement in your skills and
